BB17 Day 38 - Clay wins the Power of Veto; The target shifts off of Austin

July 25, 2015

11:00-12:00 PM: The houseguests picked players for the veto competition. Vanessa, Becky, Clay, John, Liz and Shelli will be competing. John went to Steve and told him about Austin being a target this week. Steve said that he knew that the twins were but didn’t know about Austin. He asked if it is because he is protecting the twins. John said yes. Steve then told John that he should try to win the PoV if Liz is still in it, otherwise he doesn’t need to win. John told Clay that he would have to use the Power of Veto on Becky if he won, since people would be expecting it and it’s fairer that she has someone playing for her. Clay was fine with that. Elsewhere, Austin told Clay that he is concerned that if people were lying about Liz being the target, then it’s possible that the other side of the house is going to try to target Clay this week. Austin said that they need to get Clay off of the block and that he will tell Liz that she needs to use the veto on him if she wins it. Liz later asked Austin if she needs to use the PoV on Clay if she wins it. Austin said that she will obviously have to, since they need to save Clay.

12:00-1:00 PM: Vanessa spoke to Jackie in the HoH room. She said that for her own game she will need to tell Liz about the plan to backdoor Austin. She did not want to blindside Liz, particularly when there will be two twins in the game. Jackie felt that Vanessa should not tell her, since Liz would then go to Austin with that information. Vanessa figured that it would be too dangerous not to tell. She figured that Liz would understand once she hears the whole story and realizes that Austin has been disloyal and wanting to go after Julia. Jackie suggested talking to Shelli about it to see what she thinks. Vanessa was also debating whether or not she should try to win the Power of Veto. Her concern was that she has already won three competitions. Jackie told her that if Liz is still in the competition, then she will have to win. If someone else is going to win, Jackie said that Vanessa could let them have it.

Becky headed up to the HoH room to talk to Vanessa. She expressed her concern about Vanessa having chosen Shelli to play in the veto competition. Becky said that Clay now has two strong competitors, Vanessa and Shelli, playing for her. Becky felt that she was at a major disadvantage now. Vanessa assured her that she is not the target, wont be going home, and that she only picked Shelli because Shelli would have killed her if not. Jackie was there too and said that Becky has John playing for her. Vanessa mentioned that she had a plan in place to select Shelli, though she would have chosen Jackie if Shelli could not play. Vanessa then brought up to Shelli that she is unsure of how to handle telling Liz about the plan to backdoor Austin. Shelli said that Austin and Liz are so close and that she will tell him anything that she hears. Jackie agreed. Becky also said that it’s best not to let her know the plan. Shelli suggested waiting until after the veto competition, at which point they will know whether or not Liz has the veto and they can determine the best way to proceed. Feeds went down and Vanessa has to choose three have-nots for the week. She chose Clay and Shelli, since they are the only ones yet to be have-nots. She was going to choose Austin for the third one but Steve volunteered. Steve wanted to get his second turn out of the way this week rather than next week. The have-nots can eat “slopcorn”, a combination of popcorn and slop.

1:00-2:00 PM: Austin told Clay that he is concerned that Jackie, John, Becky, James, Jason and Meg put an alliance together and were trying to take Liz out this week. Austin said that Liz is the one that brought it to his attention that she may have been the target. Austin thought that they could not risk leaving Clay on the block, since this is the last week that that group can have the numbers over them. He said that it may not even be best to take out Steve if that group is together. Austin mentioned that James was the perfect person for Jackie to nominate, since he nominated her and he would be willing to throw the competition in order to take out Liz. Austin said that they will need to let Vanessa know about this, since she may be unaware that there is a fix in the works. Clay said that they cannot let the others know that they are on to them. He suggested that Austin watch the reactions of people during and after the veto competition. John spoke to Becky and said that he is ticked off about how nobody but her has filled him in on the plan for the week, even though everyone but two people know about it. Becky was frustrated that Vanessa chose Shelli for houseguest’s choice. She said that they are so concerned about Clay going home due to his showmance, though they think that she would be safe on the block. Becky said that they shouldn’t have gotten into a showmance if they were worried about that. She said that Clay and Shelli are so strong. John told her that it will catch up with them eventually but she cannot let them know that she is on to them.

3:00-4:00 PM: Feeds returned following the veto competition. Clay won the Power of Veto. Becky was crying to Jackie. She was upset because she feels as though she has been left in the dark about a lot of the plans for this week. She said that she didn’t realize until today that everyone in the group was planning on using the Power of Veto on Clay, leaving her on the block. She said that she trusts that the group will vote to keep her, though it’s still tough to be on the block.

4:00-5:00 PM: Vanessa told Liz that they need to talk. Vanessa said that Liz will not like what she is going to tell her, so she needs to prepare herself. Liz had just gotten out of the shower, so Vanessa told her to get her makeup on and then they will talk. She said not to act weird around Austin in the mean time. Liz said that she knew that this was coming, since Julia told her that they cannot trust Austin and said that she would have to talk to Vanessa. Liz said that Austin wont leave her alone and it’s pissing her off. Vanessa said that it wont be an issue for very much longer.

5:00-6:00 PM: Vanessa told Shelli that Liz brought up that Austin wont leave her alone, so she is acting right now. Shelli mentioned that Austin and Liz kissed last night. Vanessa said that you can tell that Austin chases Liz around. She felt that it is necessary for Liz to let Austin feel that there is still something there with Austin, so that he wouldn’t expose anything because it would hurt Liz’s game. Vanessa informed Shelli that Austin and Liz came to her today and said that Clay and Shelli are convinced that a six person alliance was formed and are coming for Clay. While Shelli denied saying that, she did admit that it crossed her mind that people were targeting Clay. Shelli said that she had a feeling that Becky was throwing the BoB in order to keep Clay on the block so that he could be voted out. Shelli said that if that really happened then she is about to go to war. Vanessa also pointed out that people were upset when she picked Shelli to play in the veto competition. They were confused about that, since it was clear that the plan was to save Clay.

Austin came upstairs and was questioned about the six person alliance speculation. He said that it was purely speculation since the other side had the votes to target Clay. He talked about the reactions that he saw on people’s faces when Vanessa picked Shelli to play for PoV. He said that Jackie and James were visibly upset about it. After the veto competition, he felt that there were no happy faces. Austin said that taking Steve out could be the wrong move, since it could be 6 on 6. Austin figured that Steve could be a number for them, even if he is throwing HoHs, so there is no need to do the dirty work for the other side. Vanessa said that they will need to nominate Meg if they want Becky to go. Vanessa asked Austin if he knows who the vote to evict John was last week. Austin said that he does not know. Vanessa asked that Austin give his word that he does not know who voted John out. Austin did. Austin then left and Vanessa told Shelli that they will still go through with their talk with Liz, then they will have to make a decision with Clay. Vanessa said that it was so obvious that Austin just lied about his vote, though they questioned if this is all genius ploy to have them take Austin out in order to evict one of their own. Vanessa wanted to confront Austin about his talk with Jason in order to give him a chance to explain himself.

Austin went downstairs and spoke to Liz about how he was questioned about his vote. Liz said that Julia may have told Vanessa that Austin voted the other way. Austin said that he just lied to Vanessa’s face then. Austin asked that Liz lie to Vanessa for her, saying that he was considering making that vote but decided against it. Liz then headed up to talk to Shelli and Vanessa. Vanessa caught her up on everything that Austin told Jason. Liz said that she knew what Austin was planning to tell Jason and that he did it to try to protect her and Julia. Vanessa said that he didn’t accomplish that, since he put a big target on them as being a trio. Vanessa told Liz that Austin said that she will never be fully loyal to them while Julia is in the house. Liz said “that’s disgusting”. Liz was then questioned about last week’s vote. Liz said that she cannot lie and that Austin did vote to evict John and asked her to cover up for him. She said that the goal was to make Steve look like America’s Player. Vanessa told Liz that everyone knows that Austin is the target, which Liz was surprised to find out. Shelli and Vanessa brought up that Austin said that he kissed Liz. Liz said that she is not attracted to him at all and that he went for a kiss last night and she was like “eww” and turned away afterwards.

6:00-7:00 PM: Vanessa, Liz and Shelli discussed Austin’s wrestling name, Judas. Vanessa brought up that the problem with all of this is that Austin is a vote for their side. Liz agreed. Shelli said that she believes that they need to send Becky home, since she feels as though the other side was plotting against Clay. Vanessa said that she will have to confront Austin about the information that she has. Liz begun talking about how she doesn’t want to sleep in the same bed with Austin. She said that she is not attracted to him but is afraid that he would turn on her like Caleb turned on Amber if he were to find out how she really feels. They discussed that the only way to keep Austin is if they can get James, Jason and Meg on board with it. Vanessa did not want to make enemies out of everyone after promising to target Austin. Liz said that she feels bad because Austin was trying to guarantee her safety and was not doing anything maliciously. They agreed that Becky and Jackie have a Final 2 deal and that they need to try to get Becky out this week. Vanessa figured that Jackie may have to be the replacement nominee. Liz suggested that Meg should go up. Shelli counted out the votes and agreed that Meg is the best option.

Austin talked to Vanessa. He said that he was not going to admit to being that vote in front of Shelli. He explained that it was done in order to put a target on Steve and take the target off of the twins. Vanessa said that Austin does not realize how much is back is agains the wall right now. She said that it’s a real possibility that he is going on the block. Vanessa said that he has been disloyal and lied to her. He questioned if this was about his talk with Jason. Vanessa says that Jason came to her right away after that. He said that he believed that everything would be okay as long as he could get the twins in to the house. Vanessa said that Austin should have ran that by her, because she thought that he could trust him and now he is the target. Austin pleaded with Vanessa not to do that to him. Austin said that he is falling in love with Liz and that he made mistakes because of that but Vanessa was always his #1. Vanessa said that she would have to go back on her word to everyone if she did not nominate him now. Austin said that he can be next week’s target in front of her. He said that he has been feeling sick about this for days and wanted to talk to her. Vanessa pointed out that he had his chances to do so but chose not to. Austin explained that his talk with Jason was meant to create confusion so that people did not see him as being that close with the twins. Vanessa said that she does believe him about why he did it, even though it was a dumb move. Austin continued to beg for his life in the game, saying that he will do anything for Vanessa and that he will be willing to go on the block next week and take a bullet for her. He said that he has made decisions in the house that impact his life outside of there, so he just wants to get to jury and let things happen with Liz.

7:00-8:00 PM: Austin was told to go downstairs and try to campaign to Clay and Shelli in order to get them on board with keeping him. Austin said that he is legitimately a wreck every time that Liz leaves, since it crushes his heart. Austin told Vanessa that the relationships that he has developed in the house mean more to him than the game. He said that he thought that he had a friend for life in Vanessa. Vanessa told Austin that she still needs a reason to not put him up and she cannot get a huge target on her back out of it. Austin suggested that Jason could be the target for betraying him and leaking the info about the twins. Vanessa said that it’s up to Austin to figure out how to get himself out of this. Austin headed downstairs to talk to Clay and Shelli. He said that he is upset with Jason because his intentions were not what Jason made them out to be. Austin said that he is falling in love with Liz and that is why he made the decisions that he did last week. He said that he talked to Jason about his personal life and also about how he is feeling conflicted emotionally due to the twins switching out and because they will always choose each other. Austin admitted to voting John out and came clean about this wrestling name. Austin said that he is a number for them. Clay said that he is concerned about Austin playing too emotionally. Austin told Clay that he has learned his lesson from this. Shelli said that Austin needs to say and Becky needs to go. Shelli advised Austin to talk to Jason and see if he can get him on board with possibly keeping him around, even if it means sending him out next week instead.

8:00-9:00 PM: Austin told Jason that he knows that he is the target. He wanted to clear things up with Jason about the talk that they previously had. He told Jason that he is falling in love with Liz and only has her in the game. Jason explained that he did not tell people what Austin said to betray him, but rather because he saw it as useful information. Austin said that the show means a lot to him and he wants to stay. Austin told Jason that he could take him out next week if he wants. Jason told Austin that he already promised Becky his vote, though he isn’t necessarily against him if he does not go on the block. Austin said that he will not hold any of this against Jason if he stays. Elsewhere, Vanessa asked Shelli and Clay what they think about sending Jason home. Clay and Shelli both shot that idea down. Vanessa then brought up nominating Jackie, since Jackie will be upset with her either way for targeting Becky. They discussed needing to bring Steve on board to their side. Liz told Vanessa that she feels guilty because Austin did these things to help her. She said that Austin staying is best for their long term game. They went over the replacement nominee options. Liz thought that Meg was the best option. Vanessa threw out the idea of targeting Jackie, which Liz was on board with.

9:00-10:00 PM: Vanessa talked to Steve and told him everything that has gone down, including how Austin became the target. Vanessa told him that the twins will be entering the game this week. He had believed that they had another week to go. Vanessa let Steve know that the other side is terrified of him because they think that he is throwing competitions and can be an Ian later in the game. They discussed what is going on this week. Steve said that he thought that it was public knowledge that James, Jason, Jackie, Becky and Meg are aligned. Vanessa said that she has been hearing that as well. Vanessa told Steve that Clay and Shelli are open to saving Austin, so she wanted to know his thoughts on it. Steve compared this situation to the one where Zach’s allies saved him last year over Jocasta, since he was a number for them. Steve said that they will be shooting themselves in the foot if they evict Austin. Vanessa was concerned that she had promised James, Jason, Jackie, Becky and Meg that she would target Austin. She said that they offered her safety, though she quickly realized that it may not be true. Steve told Vanessa that that group will laugh that they got her to take out one of her own if Austin leaves. Jackie interrupted the conversation. Vanessa asked her if people were upset about Clay winning the PoV. Jackie didn’t think so. Vanessa asked who Jackie would nominate if she won HoH. Jackie said one of the twins and possibly a pawn from their own side. Jackie brought up that she is feeling uneasy and unsafe for the first time in the game. Vanessa questioned why, since she is HoH. Jackie said that she knows that she wont go up and that Austin is the target, so things will be fine. Vanessa talked about her conversation with Austin and said that she has to go through with the plan unless her alliance tells her to do something different.

10:00-11:00 PM: Shelli told Clay that Jason and Meg are still floating alone and are looking for a group. Shelli said that she doesn’t know how truthful Austin is being in the things that he says, so they really have to talk to Vanessa to see how much she wants to save Austin. Clay felt that Austin was overselling himself to them. Shelli said that James is someone that is slithering from side to side, since Austin said that James shook his hand and said that he would let him know if he was ever in danger, since Austin did that for him when he was up against Jeff. Austin told Shelli that James did not say a word to him about what was going on this week. Later on, Jason told Meg that keeping Austin may be best for Clay and Shelli but it is not best for them. He pointed out that Austin has already nominated them once and he doesn’t want to give him the chance to do it again. Meg agreed. They discussed that they need to formalize a deal with Clay and Shelli. Jason said that they are in a pretty good spot in the game. He figured that the twins would go after Becky and Jackie before them. Jason and Meg decided to call their alliance the “Goblins”.

11:00-12:00 AM: Vanessa told Austin that she needs him to give her a credible reason as to why she can’t trust someone and should be nominating them in his place. She said that she will be making an enemy out of four people by saving Austin. Austin told her that they are already enemies and will go after her either way. Austin said that he would be the top target if he stays and he would be willing to call people out and make it clear who he is after in order to ensure that that happens. Vanessa told Austin that he made a critical error at a critical time and he will face the consequences for it. Austin questioned if he should give up now and not even talk. Vanessa said no and she is praying that he can pull something out but she is not going to do it for him. Vanessa said that Austin has 24 hours to figure this out, because right now she doesn’t feel comfortable not putting him on the block. Liz told Vanessa that she feels so bad because Austin is going home because of her, since he was trying to protect her. Liz did say that she will be okay with it if Vanessa has to nominate Austin. She said that she will vote how Vanessa wants. Vanessa told Liz that the trusts her more than anyone else in the game. She asked if Liz has feelings for Austin. Liz said as a friend but not in the way that Austin does. Vanessa told her that she cannot let Austin know that he doesn’t have a chance with her, other wise he may want to blow up their games.

12:00-1:00 AM: Up in the HoH room, Jason told Jackie, Liz and Vanessa that Austin could be a saboteur. He said that the move that Austin made to tell him everything about the twins is the type of move that a saboteur would make. He later said that there likely isn’t actually as saboteur, though Vanessa said that it is actually very likely. Later, Liz told Clay and Shelli that Austin is probably a lost cause at this point. Shelli said for sure. Liz said that Vanessa is making deals with the other side of the house. Shelli asked if they are new deals or ones that she previously had. Liz said previous ones most likely. Liz told Clay and Shelli that the three of them and Julia are the ones that need to worry if the other side wins HoH next week.

1:00-2:00 AM: Liz told Austin that Vanessa made deals with the other side. Austin said that it’s one week and this move will ensure the demise of Vanessa’s own alliance unless they continue to win HoH. Austin figured that Vanessa would go through with the move to nominate him. Liz said that Vanessa is doing exactly what the other side wanted. Austin felt that Vanessa was not only sacrificing him but also their whole alliance. He figured that his only hope would be to have Clay and Shelli convince Vanessa not to make this move. Austin mentioned that Vanessa is too focused on her game theories and using statistics than she is on focusing on her connections with people. He thought that she overthinks things and is making decision that he would not make.

2:00-3:00 AM: Shelli and Clay headed upstairs to talk to Vanessa and Liz. Shelli said that the more that she is talking to Austin, she realizes that they messed up. Vanessa said that Austin made the initial mistake of of lying but they then made the mistake of jumping to the conclusion that the lie meant disloyalty. Vanessa said that they had a trustworthy person and an alliance, but they messed it up. Clay said that Jason and Meg have loyalty to Becky but they are willing to go with the house. Vanessa said that the issue is that she gave her word to the eight person alliance. Shelli said that they would be celebrating if Austin won HoH but they would be worried if Becky won HoH. Vanessa agreed. Clay said that Austin would be indebted to them if they save him. Clay said that something makes him feel uneasy about Jackie. Shelli said that that’s another reason that Becky needs to go, since they are a strong duo. Shelli thought that they could get Jason and Meg on board with it.

3:00-4:00 AM: Clay, Shelli, Liz and Vanessa continued to talk over their options for the week. Clay said that they could nominate Austin and then they will see if they can trust Jason and Meg to stick to their word and vote Becky out. Vanessa went with it for a few minutes before questioning why they are even giving the other side the chance to vote Austin out. Vanessa said that Jackie is gunning for her anyway and it might be best for her to nominate Jackie. Liz said that she would rather target Jackie anyway. The others got on board with that. Clay said that Vanessa could get Becky on her side by spinning it that she is saving Becky. Shelli said that they need to get Becky on board tomorrow. Clay and Shelli discussed that everything fell in to place perfectly this week, so they have got to roll with it and stick to their alliance. They said that it is a strong alliance and there is no reason to do what the other side wants. Vanessa suggested that her, Clay and Shelli can make a fake alliance with Jason and Meg to get them to feel better about this plan.
