BB17 Day 44 - James nominates Clay and Shelli
July 31, 2015
Very early this morning, after a night of talks, James decided that he wants to nominate Clay and Shelli together. Details on how the plan developed here.
12:00-1:00 PM: Vanessa asked Clay if he thinks that James is keeping true to his word. Clay said yeah. Vanessa questioned how Clay has no idea who James is targeting, after they talked to him for a long time. Clay said that he only mentioned Steve but was not saying a whole lot. Vanessa asked Clay to give his word that he did not throw her under the bus. Clay said on his life that he did not do that. He told her that they would never do that to her. Vanessa said that she didn’t either. Clay told Shelli about Vanessa asked him to promise that they did not throw her under the bus. Clay said that it makes her feel as though Vanessa is guilty of something. Up in the HoH room, James told John that he has never been a target of his. James told John that if he is behind him then he will get him to jury this week. John said that he will keep James safe next week. James told John that one of the power couples in the house needs to be split up or else they are going to steamroll all over them. James said that he knows that John is an independent voter, so he will not tell him which way to vote but he would like for him to talk to him about how to use the PoV if he wins it. John went along with it.
1:00-2:00 PM: The have-nots for the week were chosen. James chose Austin, Julia and Liz. In addition to slop, they received lollipops. James spoke to Austin and told him that he is a heavy hitter and is going after a strong couple. James clarified that it is not him and Liz. Austin told James that he has his support. James said that Austin, Liz or Julia may need to be the replacement nominee if someones comes off of the block. He explained that those three would vote to keep each other and they would also have the votes from Becky, Jackie and Meg. Austin said that he may want to take the hit for the twins, since he is the romantic kind of guy. Austin also said that he is willing to keep the nominations the same if he wins the PoV. He said that he has the perfect excuse not to use it, since he can’t risk one of the twins being nominated. James told Austin that the couple told him that they have no relationship with him or the twins. Austin told James that he will have him in this game if he does this for him this week. James said that Shelli will likely pick Vanessa to play for PoV. Austin said that he doesn’t think that Vanessa will want to win it, but hopefully she doesn’t throw it to Clay or Shelli. Austin then headed downstairs to fill the twins in on the plan. They were happy that they are not the targets.
Shelli told Vanessa that she feels as though her and Clay are taking the blame for having thrown James’ name out there as a target, since Vanessa said that someone wanted him up as the replacement nominee. Vanessa went up to the HoH room to swear that it was not Clay and Shelli. Vanessa told James to take that off of the table if it is influencing his move. James said that he has other reasons. Vanessa said that she is pretty sure that she sees the direction that he is going. Vanessa said that it is a game move and there will be no issue between them. She told James that she will support him in what he does. James assured Vanessa that she does not have to worry about being nominated or backdoored. While Vanessa spoke to James, Clay and Shelli spoke to Meg. Shelli said that it is obvious that people are blaming them for what happened to Jason. She said that she is pissed off about that. Shelli said that they were not the ones to throw Jason’s name out there. Meg said that nobody is giving them straight answers, so she blames everyone but James and Jackie for it. Clay said that they didn’t want Jason to go. Meg pointed out that he went. Clay asked if Meg thinks that there is even a shot that James nominates him and Shelli. Meg said that she doesn’t think so.
James told Vanessa that he knows that he is on the bottom of the totem pole with these people. He said that they will never go against each other and he will never have their votes in jury. James said that these two also were caught in lies, particularly with Meg after Jason was nominated. Vanessa asked James not to tell her anything more, because she does not want to be in a position where she knew the plan ahead of time. Vanessa pointed out that this is the same reason that she did not tell James about Jason ahead of time. Vanessa told James to do what he thinks is best and go with his gut. James said that he feels good about the decision and doesn’t think that there is anyone else that he can righteously send home. Vanessa spoke to John about what is going on. John was wondering if they should give Clay and Shelli a heads up about what is going on. Vanessa said that it’s best that they say that they don’t know. Vanessa pointed out that Clay and Shelli know stuff about their games that could hurt them right now. John told her that he doesn’t think that they would play that way.
2:00-3:00 PM: Shelli told Clay that they are good as long as neither of them are nominated, since James wouldn’t have the numbers to get them out if he backdoored one of them. John approached Clay to tell him that James said that he is going to make a move on a power couple, though he did not say which one. John figured that it was either Clay and Shelli or the twins. John mentioned that Vanessa is getting similar vibes and feels as though Clay and Shelli may be nominated, though she is conflicted about telling them. Clay told John that James swore that he would not put them up. John said that it must be the twins then. Meg headed up to the HoH room to talk to James about her conversations with Clay, Shelli and Vanessa. She said that Clay and Shelli are definitely freaking out right now. James said that they should be, since it’s time for them to sweat. James pointed out that it is like week one again, with Clay and Shelli having no control.
3:00-4:00 PM: The nomination ceremony took place. James nominated Clay and Shelli for eviction. Feeds returned and Shelli was telling Clay that she does not want to be there without him. She pointed out that they are being split up right before jury. Clay was upset with James. Shelli said that he does not know what really happened last week, so it is not his fault. Shelli told Clay that they need to get Austin backdoored. Shelli also said that there was no reason for Vanessa to have pulled them down last week when she made the decision. Elsewhere, James was saying that either Clay or Shelli will be going home and he hopes that somebody will win the PoV and leave the nominations the same.
4:00-5:00 PM: Shelli told Vanessa that she knows that Austin went upstairs and threw them under the bus. Shelli said that she will do whatever she can to say, even if it means exposing their alliance. Clay mentioned that it was Vanessa’s decision to nominate Jason. That angered Vanessa. She told Clay that they were in on the decision as well. Vanessa said that if they want to start a fight, they are going to take their most loyal person and make her turn on them. Vanessa then said that she needs some time and she left. Shelli spoke to Clay and questioned why they are the ones to blame and why Austin, Vanessa or the twins are not nominated. Shelli then told Clay that he cannot blow up and he cannot upset Vanessa, since they need her and cannot afford to lose their numbers. Clay said that he doesn’t trust Meg and does not trust anyone in the house right now. Shelli said that this is how the others felt last week. Clay told Shelli that he is going to use the PoV on her if he wins it. Shelli told him to stop and said that she would then be stuck in the house without him.
Outside, James told Julia and Liz that Clay and Shelli tried to get him to target the two of them, saying that they have no relationship with them. Shelli came outside and interrupted the conversation, asking James to talk. Clay apologized to James for blowing up. Shelli said that she would have stuck to a deal if she had made one like James made with her during the competition. Back outside, Vanessa told Austin that Shelli mentioned blowing up their alliance. Vanessa said that they are disloyal. Austin and Vanessa agreed that they need to deny everything if Shelli tries to expose them. Vanessa then spoke to Becky and the twins, bringing up that Shelli said if anyone wanted to know what went down last week, it was not them behind it. Vanessa proceeded to explain what happened last week. Liz said that she is frustrated with Clay and Shelli, since they tried to get them nominated. Vanessa questioned why they would burn the tightest bridge that they had. Vanessa told the twins about the plan to deny any knowledge of the Sixth Sense alliance. Julia said that she is done with Clay and Shelli now that they tried to get her and Liz nominated.
Back inside, James told Clay and Shelli that Austin and the twins are not threats to him, since he can beat them in competitions. James pointed out that Clay and Shelli would be much tougher competition for him. Clay said that it shouldn’t be a concern when they are on his side, since them winning competitions is like him winning. Shelli told James that they have not betrayed him in any way. Clay added that they were never going to either. James said that they withheld information from him, such as their talks about Final 4 with Jason and Meg. He said that he would have liked to know about that if his own people are excluding him from groups. Clay and Shelli said that they were upset that they are getting broken up right before jury. They said that whichever one of them stays would not vote for James to win, while he could have both of their votes if he keeps them. James said that he didn’t have reason to nominate anyone else. Clay said that Austin was the one behind sending Jason home. Shelli asked if there is any chance of keeping them both safe this week if they win the PoV. James said that it would be up to them to get the rest of the house on board.
6:00-7:00 PM: Clay apologized to Vanessa for what happened earlier. He said that he did not mean to imply that he does not trust her. Vanessa told Clay and Shelli that if she plays in the veto competition she will be using it on them. Clay told Vanessa to use it on Shelli. Clay said that he would prefer to have Austin go home than any of them and therefore they may need to try to get him backdoored. Up in the HoH room, Meg and Jackie discussed that Clay is willing to throw his game away for someone that he met less than 50 days ago. They said that they may need to win the PoV and use it on Clay, nominating Liz in his place, in order to ensure that Shelli goes home. Meg then filled James in on what Clay is saying. James’ response was “wow, what a hero”. Meg said that it’s even more reason to keep Clay over Shelli. They agreed that Shelli needs to be the one to go. Steve and Vanessa quickly spoke in the storage room. Steve brought up that Becky is doing a brilliant job of playing the middle. Vanessa asked if he thought that she is a bigger threat than Clay and Shelli. Steve said that those two are huge targets and it is good to keep bigger targets than them around, so sending Becky home would be the better plan. Vanessa said that they can probably make that happen. She said that Clay and Shelli also pointed out that Becky is skating by too.
7:00-8:00 PM: Becky and John spoke to Clay, catching him up on some things. Clay asked if they would use the PoV on one of them if they won. John said that they would have to. Prior to Clay showing up, Becky told John that she wants to work with whoever remains out of Clay and Shelli. She said that Jackie, James and Meg had no issue with admitting that they wanted Jason to stay over her. Becky felt that Jackie has been distancing herself from her. It was then Shelli’s turn to talk to them. John told Shelli that he was getting the vibe that they may be going up. He said that Vanessa had that same vibe but told him that he should not tell them. Shelli asked if he swears on his life that Vanessa is playing her. Becky spoke up and said that they don’t know and that they think that Vanessa is with everyone. Shelli said that she thinks that Vanessa is on their side but she felt attacked when her and Clay said stuff after nominations.
9:00-10:00 PM: Liz headed up to the HoH room to thank James for not nominating her or Julia. Liz said that James made a very bold move and that only the best game players are not scared to make the bold moves. Liz told James that her and Julia owe James big time and will vote whichever way he wants. James said that right now he is leaning towards wanting Shelli to go. Liz then spoke to Austin, telling him that James mentioned that they are thinking of targeting Shelli over Clay. Liz said that she thinks that it is a good plan. She mentioned that Clay will try to latch on to anyone that he can, while Shelli is going to be very bitter if she is left in the game without Clay. Austin was concerned that if he goes up as the replacement nominee that Clay and Shelli will go tell people about “Judas”. Austin said that they need Clay and Shelli to remain nominated. He said that he kind of wants that to happen. Liz said that Clay and Shelli only care about each other and they cannot be fooled by them.
10:00-11:00 PM: Austin and Jackie talked things over in attempt to clear the air. Jackie had some concerns that she may not be safe with Austin and the twins. Austin told Jackie that she is 100% good with him. Jackie said that the same goes for him. He told Jackie to speak to the twins if she is worried about them, since they are not targeting her either. They then discussed that Clay and Shelli’s loyalty is only to each other and that they have made that very clear. Austin then went to Vanessa to tell her that Clay and Shelli told Jackie that she is the #1 target for him, Liz and Julia. Austin said that those two are using information and that he would have been gone if he had done that last week. Vanessa agreed. Austin pointed out that they told Clay and Shelli to chill but they just wont do it.
Julia asked Austin if he believes Clay when he tells them that they were not trying to get the twins nominated. Austin said no. Julia said that she wants Clay or Shelli to go, which Austin agreed with. He said that right now he would like for nominations to remain the same. Austin suggested that Julia and Liz speak to Jackie at some point. Julia said that she really does like Jackie and said that they are cool now that Liz and Jackie each nominate each other. Austin told Julia that James is doing something huge for them by giving them a chance to stay during a week that they thought that one of them would for sure be gone. Austin then told both twins that they have a good excuse for not using PoV, since they don’t want each other to be nominated. Clay quickly came by to speak to the twins and Austin. He asked that if they win the PoV and choose to use it, please use it on Shelli. Clay said that they will have the numbers as long as one of them comes down. Austin said that’s as long as one of them doesn’t go up in their place. After Clay left, Austin told Liz that the only way that they can use the veto is if James tells them to use it. He said that he would still like to have the veto in their possession, so they cannot throw the competition.
11:00-12:00 AM: Shelli and Clay discussed the veto competition and potential replacement nominees. Shelli said that she thinks that James would nominate Steve if he had to choose a replacement, since it’s the least blood on his hands. She said that they could then flip the votes. Shelli told Clay that she does not think that the twins would use the PoV if they won it, since they would have to protect each other. Clay disagreed and felt that they could get the twins on board. Clay said that Austin and the twins would feel like crap if they won the veto and did not use it on them after all that they have done for them in the past. Shelli then talked to Vanessa about how James is telling Austin that he will nominate a twin if Austin uses the veto. Shelli felt that he was bluffing and that there was no way that James would want to anger her and Clay as well as the Austin, Julia and Liz trio. Vanessa advised Clay and Shelli to be careful about any badmouthing of Austin, Julia and Liz that they do, since they will need their votes. Shelli asked if they are foolish to think that they have the votes if Steve goes on the block. Vanessa said no but it’s not guaranteed either.
12:00-1:00 AM: Vanessa told Steve that she told Clay and Shelli that she will play for them if they get houseguest’s choice. She said that she will likely tell James that and say that she will not use the PoV without his blessing. Steve pointed out that it would be him, Austin, Liz or Julia being nominated if she did use it. Steve said that it would be interesting if Clay and Shelli chose Becky to play in the competition, since it would raise doubts about Becky. He explained that anyone that Clay or Shelli choose will be viewed as working with them. Steve said that it could be the first part of the plan to getting the other side to lose trust in Becky. Steve then brought up that he would like to keep as many layers in front of them as possible. He believes that Clay and Shelli being split up will remove one of those layers. Vanessa told Steve that he could let it slip that Becky knew the plan to nominate Jason the night before, not an hour before like she is claiming. The two had earlier discussed potentially trying to make Becky the target. Vanessa then told James about how she told Clay and Shelli that she would play in the veto competition for them. She said that she would not use the veto unless James gave his blessing and they agreed on a replacement nominee. James said that he wants the nominations to stay the same. He also revealed that he would prefer that Shelli leaves this week, which surprised Vanessa. She said that based on his speech he wanted Clay to go. James said that Clay would be the more reasonable one if he remained in the game. Vanessa asked if it’s best that she throws the veto competition. James said yes but he doesn’t want to ask her to. Vanessa said that she got him to throw a comp last week, so it’s fine. Jackie later told James that they need Vanessa to try, otherwise Clay and Shelli have a better chance at winning.
1:00-2:00 AM: Steve approached Clay and Shelli to tell them about this plan to choose someone for houseguest’s choice strategically in order to cast doubt. He didn’t name names but Clay and Shelli knew that he was talking about Becky. Afterwards, Vanessa told Clay and Shelli that it is a good plan. She said that Becky will throw the competition and then they have better odds of winning. Clay felt that it wouldn’t be a big difference make if they picked Becky, so he would rather have someone fighting for the veto for him. He also said that he is not willing to throw Becky under the bus. A short while later, Shelli told Vanessa that she feels as though their group is no longer solid and that they don’t have their backs. Clay said that he feels the same way. Shelli said that she does not know if Austin and the twins will vote for them and she feels as though the loyalty that they gave last week is not being shown back this week. Vanessa told Shelli that she cannot help her then, since she has done enough and can’t do it anymore. She told Shelli not to talk to her. A couple minutes later, the talk continued. Vanessa said that it seems as though Clay and Shelli throw their loyalty to her out the window whenever they feel threatened. She said that she can only take so much before feeling that they do not have her back. Vanessa also said that she was disappointed that Shelli did not include her in the deal that she made with James. They eventually discussed potential replacement nominees. Shelli was hoping to get Steve nominated. Vanessa said that she is better off exposing that Becky is betraying James, rather than targeting someone like Steve that is helping them. Shelli said that Becky is betraying James in order to help them.
