BB17 Day 45 - James wins the Power of Veto
August 1, 2015
10:00-11:00 AM: Players were picked for the veto competition. James, Clay, Shelli, Becky, Jackie and Vanessa will be competing. James spoke to Vanessa, telling her to do what she does and win that veto. James told Austin that he couldn’t pick him for houseguest’s choice, since it would look like something was up, so he chose Jackie. John told Steve that it was a nice draw. Steve said that it could not have gone worse for Clay and Shelli. John said that’s good for them. John said that he was worried that Clay or Shelli would get houseguest’s choice and pick him to play, which would look terrible. Vanessa quickly spoke to Austin and said that it may be good for him or the twins to fake a fight with Clay and Shelli. Vanessa said that James needs to see a divide between them if they have any hope of keeping the Sixth Sense together. She said that they could potentially get John or Becky evicted if so.
11:00-12:00 PM: Austin headed up to the HoH room to talk to James. He said that Clay is giving him an evil eye, as if to say that he knows that he is working with James now. Austin said that Clay should get mad at John or someone else, since everyone is fine with what is going on right now. James said that one of them needs to win the veto and seal the deal so that Clay and Shelli remain nominated. James said that even in the worst case scenario, Clay or Shelli wins the veto and the other one is definitely going home. James said that it bothers him that Clay came in there for his own game and now Shelli wants him to use the veto on her and he seems to be on board with it. Austin said that he knows the difference between a showmance and the game. James said that he will tell Clay how dumb he is if he does that and he will tell Shelli that she better marry that guy. Austin said that Shelli hasn’t even kissed Clay. He said that Clay should at least get a kiss out of that. James, Jackie and Becky then discussed plans for the veto competition. Jackie asked what Vanessa would do. James said that she will keep the nominations the same. Becky pointed out that Vanessa changes her mind a lot. Jackie asked if they should take the veto from Clay or Shelli if they have $5,000. James said yes. James said that it’s almost guaranteed that Clay is going to use the veto on Shelli if he wins, which would mean that he is going home. Jackie said that they need to get rid of whichever one stays next week.
Austin headed downstairs. Vanessa asked him if he had a good time in the HoH room. Austin said that he was using the bathroom and only talked to James for a minute. Vanessa told him not to mess with her. Austin said that he isn’t. He explained that he told James that Clay is mad at him, since she wanted it to appear as though there is a divide. Vanessa told Austin, Julia and Liz that one of Clay or Shelli is going to stay and those people have had their backs from the beginning. She said that they helped to hide the twins’ secret and played a big part in saving Austin last week. Vanessa said that Clay and Shelli are very loyal and never said that they wanted the twins out. Vanessa said that James’ side cannot be trusted. Vanessa said that Austin and the twins would be the first to go in that group, since that side is four independents. Vanessa said that the only way for Austin and the twins to go deep is with another big group. Austin said that he knows. Vanessa said that they are crazy if they think that James is their friend. She said that this is a one week move and they cannot make any long term moves. Liz asked Austin why Vanessa got mad. Austin said that she doesn’t trust James and doesn’t want them to trust him. Liz said that Vanessa is a fool for believing Clay and Shelli, since they are only looking out for themselves. Austin said that Vanessa is getting too paranoid because she is always stuck with Clay and Shelli.
12:00-1:00 PM: Austin told Vanessa that he is worried that Clay and Shelli would throw him under the bus and get Jackie, James and Meg to flip if he is nominated. Vanessa said that they control Steve, so they have votes from her, Julia, Liz and Steve. Austin said that they need one more vote. Vanessa asked Liz to give her word that she will keep her if she goes up. Liz said that there is no question in her mind that Vanessa is more valuable to them. She said that Julia feels the same way. Austin said that he would love if they can get everyone to stay but he is not 100% convinced that Clay and Shelli are being truthful. Austin said that Clay and Shelli are already saying things to Julia about him and they may have said things to Jackie as well. Austin told Vanessa that James already said that he will use either him or the twins as a pawn. Vanessa said that it is pointless for her to use the PoV then. Austin said yeah, unless James agrees to nominate someone else. Vanessa again asked Austin and the twins if they are loyal to her over James. They said that they are and that they are just telling James what he needs to hear. Austin pointed out that if Vanessa wins it could prevent Clay and Shelli from trying to blow them up in attempt to get James, Jackie or Becky to use the veto.
Vanessa asked who they would prefer to stay, Shelli or Clay. Julia and Liz said that they want Shelli to stay. Vanessa said that she does too and that the four of them and Steve can vote to evict Clay in order to ensure that Shelli stays. Julia said that she could never vote Shelli out. Vanessa assured them that Shelli would stay loyal. Vanessa said that they don’t have to vote the way that James wants, since Clay could swing to the other side. Austin said that he expects Clay to win PoV and to actually use it on Shelli. Vanessa told Austin not to make any long term deals with James. Austin said that he will do whatever he has to this week and then he will go back on it if he has to, just like James went back on his deal with Shelli. Vanessa said that James, Jackie, Becky and Meg will always look out for each other before them. Austin said that now that there is no Battle of the Block, they can guarantee that James, Jackie or Meg leave if they win HoH. Austin said that they can nominate Jackie and Meg, backdooring James. Vanessa agreed and said that they all need to do that if they win. Vanessa said that she is going to try hard to win the veto and keep the nominations the same.
4:00-5:00 PM: Feeds returned following the veto competition. James won the Power of Veto. Becky won $5,000 and Clay won a trip to Ireland. Clay went to John and asked him to promise that if nominations stay the same that he will keep Shelli. John said that he will only do it because Clay is telling him to. Clay said that he will be asking Austin, Becky, Julia, Liz and Vanessa to do the same. Clay got John to give his word that he would keep Shelli over him. Clay asked John to look after her. Austin and Vanessa were filled in on the plan. Vanessa told Julia that Clay will be asking her to vote for Shelli. Vanessa said that it is the most romantic thing that she has ever seen. Julia said it’s so sad. Vanessa then told Shelli that Clay is making everyone promise to vote for her. Shelli asked if she is kidding and questioned why Clay is doing that. Vanessa said that Clay thinks that Shelli has a better shot to win, which she agrees with. Meanwhile, up in the HoH room, Jackie and James discussed that Shelli needs to go. Jackie said that they will need to get Clay out next week. They figured that Clay would nominate the two of them if he stays and wins HoH. James came downstairs to talk to Clay and Shelli. He said that he really likes both of them and this is a game move. He said that he has to play hard for his daughter. James wished them the best together outside of the house and said that he hopes that they can be friends. Clay told him that there are no hard feelings.
5:00-6:00 PM: Shelli told Clay that James has a lot of blood on his hands from this move and he knows that the two of them will stick together no matter what, so he is not going to change his mind. Clay wasn’t so sure. He thought that they had a legit chance to get James to use the PoV. Clay said that if they stay it’s two people that James has on his side. If they go, Clay pointed out that the other one would go after James and his side. Shelli wanted to talk to James still but she did not expect anything to come of it. Shelli also did not want to make any promises that they can’t keep. Clay said that it may come down to making promises that they can’t keep or not being in jury together. Shelli said that the one thing that she will not do is go against Vanessa. She also said that she could not go against John. Clay hoped that they could get James to put Steve up. He felt that nominating Steve would put the least amount of blood on James’ hands. Shelli said that Steve has been good to them, while Clay said that he hasn’t really done anything for them. Clay figured that they could get people to go up to James and say that they are on board with that move. Shelli said that Austin and the twins owe them and that keeping them in the house keeps another target in front of them. Clay said that he would be willing to say that he would go after them, since they have done nothing for them. They agreed that Austin is the reason that they are in this position. They discussed telling James that he is losing a jury vote if he takes one of them out, as opposed to keeping them both and having two jury votes. In the have-not room, Julia asked Austin and Liz if they think that James will make them vote Shelli out. Liz said that she is scared of that. Julia said that she doesn’t have a relationship with Clay, so she would vote him out, but she does not want James to get mad. Austin said that he knows and it is going to be a tough decision. Julia pointed out that Clay hasn’t won anything and Shelli is the bigger threat, but Shelli would go after the other side. Julia said that she does not know what Clay would do if he stayed.
6:00-7:00 PM: Clay asked Meg to promise that she would vote him out over Shelli if it comes down to it. Meg said that she cannot make that promise and that she have Clay do this and then possibly regret it down the line. Clay said that he wont. Clay asked if Meg is afraid that James would be mad at her. Meg said that she is not but they have been close from Day 1 and she cannot vote him out. Clay said that he is telling her to do it. Meg told him to stop. Meg begun crying and told Clay that if he is still there he will have people on his side. Clay started crying as well. Meg told him that he needs to stop, because she cannot do this. Meg said that if the roles were reversed, she would really hope that he would be saying the same thing to her right now. Meg said that she is not letting Clay throw away his game. Clay said that he is already a winner. Meg told Clay that she will be voting for him if he makes it to the Final 2. She said that he is picking the wrong girl to make this argument to. Meg then went to Jackie and told her what Clay had just asked her to do. They both agreed that Shelli needs to go. Clay spoke to Becky next, getting her to promise to keep Shelli over him. She promised on her life but told Clay that nobody can know that she is voting him out except for him and Shelli. She said that James wants Shelli out since she wins more, so she cannot let people know that she is voting against that.
8:00-9:00 PM: Jackie received a knight costume due to the veto competition. She will have to wear it for an entire week. She must keep the helmet on even if she goes in the pool or the shower. Vanessa’s punishment is to be the “squire” for Jackie for 24 hours, polishing her armour at all times. The only time when Vanessa can stop is when Jackie sleeps. Vanessa must sleep on the floor next to Jackie’s bed.
9:00-10:00 PM: Shelli’s punishment from the veto competition is that she must complete 2400 “battles” in 24 hours with a sword that she was given. Should she fail, she will have to sit out of the next veto competition.
10:00-11:00 PM: Clay spoke to Julia and brought up keeping Shelli over him. He then told her that if James asks they should say that they would prefer to send Steve home this week. Clay then grabbed Austin and Liz to catch them up on the plan. He told them to promise that they would vote him out over Shelli if they remain on the block on together on Thursday. Austin swore that he would. Liz said that she will too. He mentioned the plan to try to get Steve on the block to them as well. Austin spoke to Liz afterwards, telling her that Clay can talk to James about getting Steve nominated as long as he doesn’t throw them under the bus. He said that there is no way that James will be on board with it. Liz said that James wont change his nominations, otherwise he wouldn’t have passed up on $5,000 and the trip to Ireland in order to get the Power of Veto. Austin said that all that they can do is go along with James’ plan, whether that means leaving nominations the same or not.
11:00-12:00 AM: James asked John how he feels about everything that went down this week. John said that James did what he told him that he would do for him. He said that it sucks that someone has to go but that’s the game. James said that he believes that everyone has a fair shot to win now, since they don’t have to compete against a pair in the competitions or campaign against a pair when they are on the block. James pointed out that he has kept John safe both times when he won HoH, so he hopes that John remembers that. John said that he appreciates everything that James has done for him. James hoped that he would be given a week off next week, with people leaving him off of the block since he helped them all get to jury by keeping them safe this week.
12:00-1:00 AM: Clay quickly told John about his plan to get Steve nominated. He asked John to go along with it if James asked. Clay mentioned that James told him that if the house is on board then he can make a different move, so he plans to tell James that the house is fine with. Clay told John that he can say that him and Shelli will always be targets, while Steve is someone that is going to start winning all of the memory competitions down the stretch.
3:00-4:00 AM: Clay spoke to Liz about getting Steve out again. Clay said that Steve has not mentioned any names but he said that he would target the other side of the house. Liz said that it’s their last hope. Clay said that Steve is the only one to nominate that would not get any blood on James’ hands. Clay asked Liz to say that they would rather have Steve go home, since Clay and Shelli will always be a target. Clay brought up that they can say that Steve will start winning the memory competitions and they wont know who he would put up. Clay pointed out that James can’t play for HoH in the double eviction if it is this week, so he wont want Steve there. Liz asked if Clay is nervous. Clay said that he can’t see James using it. Liz told him that James would have taken the money if he was okay with the PoV being used. Clay agreed. Liz then told Austin that what Clay said is going to put them in the middle of things. Liz said that Clay is planning to tell James that Steve has mentioned that he would be going after that side of the house. Austin said that throwing Steve under the bus will not work. Liz told Austin that Clay wants them to verify that Steve is targeting them. Austin said that it will sound like they are trying to protect Clay and Shelli, because Steve never talks. Austin thought that a better strategy would be to out Becky about having worked with them last week.
4:00-5:00 AM: Austin and Liz told Clay that they are concerned that Steve doesn’t mention names. Clay said that they only need to say that Steve planned to target the other side, though he told them that they do not have to force the conversation with James. Clay acknowledged that it could make it look like they are all working together if they do this. Clay said that they can say that they don’t want Steve to be in jury with them. Austin said that they would be targeting Steve next anyway, so he can say that and mention that it would be good if he wasn't in jury. Clay told Austin and Liz that he will keep them posted on how their talk with James goes. Austin told Liz that it’s easier now that Clay doesn’t want them to talk to James unless James approaches them first. Austin said that James will not nominate Steve and either Clay or Shelli will leave. They discussed that they are worried about James wanting them to vote Shelli out. Liz said that it’s tough, because her and Julia promised their votes to James. Austin said that if they break their word and Jackie wins HoH, she will now put them up. Liz said that Jackie would do it anyway.
