BB17 Day 61 - Liz decides not to use the Power of Veto
August 17, 2015
11:00-12:00 PM: The veto ceremony took place. Liz decided not to use the Power of Veto. Becky and John remain nominated. Austin told Liz that Becky was basically saying in her speech that she will come after Liz if she does not save her. Steve said that people read too much into the speeches and that they do not mean anything. Julia told Liz that Becky couldn’t have expected her to get any additional blood on her hands by saving her and having to nominate another person.
12:00-1:00 PM: John and Becky spoke outside. Becky said that she is not in a good spot. She believes that the twins like her but Austin does not and he is the head of their alliance. She also pointed out that Vanessa doesn’t like her. Becky felt that she was taking the fall for the eight person group that Vanessa had created, even though she didn’t initiate it and wanted not part of it. John told Becky that at least they can now hang out. Becky agreed but said that it sucks that she is always in a grumpy mood now. Becky asked why Steve doesn’t like her. John said that he doesn’t think that Steve doesn’t like her, but he was probably concerned that Becky was close to him. He suggested that Steve would be open to working with Becky moving forward, as long as she makes it clear that she doesn’t hold the Jackie eviction against him. Becky said that she already made that clear to Steve and that Meg was the one that was most angry at him. Meg spoke to John and told him that Becky’s speech did not help her. John said that he doesn’t want to campaign against Becky, since she kept him safe last week. He felt bad that Becky was put into this position because she saved him last week and went against the plan. John told Meg that her and James should vote to keep Becky. He then told her that they can do whatever they want. Meg told John to stop. She asked if he was Clay and said that she does not like when people say that. Meg told John that he will likely be fine this week. John said that he plans to lay low, which Meg felt would be the best option. John and Meg discussed that they have lost everyone. John said that he has lost Clay and Shelli, and now he will lose Becky if he stays. He told Meg that he has gone through the grieving stage already and whenever it is his time to go, he almost won’t even care anymore.
Vanessa spoke to Austin in the HoH room. They cleared the air about Vanessa’s concerns over the past few days. Austin said that there is nothing wrong between them and that he may have been goofing around too much to realize how she was feeling. Austin said that they need to work on John for the rest of the week, ensuring that he feels really good about them. Vanessa said that John needs to be the target next week. She explained that John would work with Becky or Shelli if they returned. She said that those two plus the other two that remain could all align and make it 4 on 4 against her, Austin, Liz and Julia. Vanessa figured that the other side would want to keep Jackie around if she returned, while they would want to keep Shelli if she returned. Vanessa then discussed that they will not want to make it to the end with Meg, because all of her friends are going to be in jury. She also said that everyone is going to take Meg if she is still around when the Final 4 rolls around. Austin said that he believes that Julia is almost guaranteed Final 3 at this point, since people would come after both Liz and himself first. Vanessa figured that the twins would be targeted before Austin, because only two people would be mad if they went up but three would be mad if he went up. Vanessa revealed that she asked if they allowed to make a deal in which she and Austin can agree that if one of them wins then the other gets x number of dollars to spend on gambling. She said that they could then split the gambling profits, so it would allow them to win extra money. If Austin is the one doing the gambling, Vanessa said that she could coach him. She thought that they would be able to create a spin off to create TV content about their gambling experience as well. Vanessa brought up that Ian is Steve’s hero. She pointed out that Ian flipped on his group. Austin said that they would be running out of time for a Quack Pack to form. Vanessa asked if they should throw the next HoH. Austin told her that he has been thinking about it, since they have deals with everyone. He suggested that John and Steve would target James and Meg and vice versa. He ultimately said that they can wait and see who is left in the HoH competition, deciding if there is someone that they can trust to throw it to.
1:00-2:00 PM: Vanessa spoke to Austin and the twins, telling them that John needs to go next. She said that those three could make a deal with John, but she can hold off on that so that she can target him. Vanessa said that they had just better save her if John wins and nominates her. Austin said that they should all get John to feel comfortable so that he will throw HoH. Vanessa felt that Steve’s loyalty to them would be limited as long as John is in the game. Becky spoke to Austin and Liz, informing them that she plans to make people think that she is going to jury. Liz suggested that Becky campaign and tell people why she should stay over John. Becky said that everyone knows that she will be targeting Vanessa and Vanessa will be targeting her if she stays in the game this week. Becky said that she is not a well rounded player, only being able to win competitions that involve running, as opposed to John who is well rounded. Becky told Austin and the twins that she would incorporate them into her discussions if she won HoH next week. Austin asked what would happen if Vanessa won the veto. Becky said that she knows who she would put up and Austin, Liz and Julia would still be safe. After Becky left, Austin told the twins that John’s conversation with them about wanting to target Vanessa has sealed Becky’s fate. Julia brought up that Vanessa could still be a number for them and it may be best to keep her until after the jury member returns. Julia was concerned that they could lose the numbers if Jackie returned. Julia suggested targeting John next week, since Vanessa would not take one of them out. Liz was concerned that Vanessa would target Austin, so she said that Vanessa needs to go next. Austin said that Vanessa would turn people on them. Julia disagreed, saying that everyone knows that Vanessa is crazy. Liz told Julia that it is best for her to throw HoH to John. Julia was concerned that John would nominate Liz. Austin said that John has to work with them. Austin agreed that it is best if he wins HoH and keeps their options open.
4:00-5:00 PM: Austin and Steve agreed that Vanessa is a pretty big shield right now and that people would target her before they would target them. However, they said that Vanessa has done enough stuff to make herself the clear #5 in their five person alliance. Austin informed Steve that Vanessa was saying that he is playing an Ian Terry game and that he will form an alliance to go against his original alliance. They discussed that Becky needs to be the one to go this week. If John won HoH and tried to backdoor Vanessa but failed, Steve pointed out that it could be Becky, Jackie, James and Shelli fighting for one spot to get back in to the game. Austin said that that would be ideal, since they are all of the big physical competitors. Steve agreed. Austin told Steve that James and Meg are targeting him and Vanessa, but they would have the votes to save him. They talked about making a five person alliance with John and the twins, hoping to secure that John is on their side. Steve said that it would not be able to be done until Becky leaves. Austin felt that they are in an amazing position and that Steve, Liz, Julia and himself could make the Final 4. Steve said that he is not opposed to that. Steve asked Austin if he knows that the twins will want to be in the Final 2 together. Austin said that he obviously does and that he cannot come between sisters. However, he said that he cares for Liz so much that he would be okay with being third place to them. He admitted that he would fight for the HoH if it came down to that though. He also told Steve that it is not necessarily the case that he would choose the twins over Steve at the end. Afterwards, Austin spoke to Liz and said that Steve is their most loyal fourth. Liz agreed. Austin said that the fact that Vanessa is saying that Steve may turn on them to make a Quack Pack alliance is ridiculous. Austin and Liz agreed that Steve would keep them in the game over Vanessa. Austin also thought that he would keep them over John if it came down to it.
5:00-6:00 PM: Austin told Vanessa that he likes her gambling stakes idea. Vanessa asked how much he would be willing to guarantee. Austin said half of what he wins, cause he is crazy. Vanessa said that she would be down for that and that she can make so much money off of that. They discussed that Steve will become the “king” if given enough time. Austin said that he is about two weeks away. Vanessa said that Steve really does not want to lose John. Austin said that he has noticed that and that Steve sees John as his guy and also his shield. Vanessa suggested that they offer John their votes in exchange for him not putting them up next week, so that way they can still nominate him. Vanessa asked if James and Meg are good for their word. Austin told her that they would stick to it until someone returns. Vanessa wondered if they were stupid to leave James and Meg in the game, giving them a chance to become a three with Jackie. Austin said that Steve will be going after James and Meg next week for that reason.
Liz told Julia that the best option for them is to have Shelli return, while the worst option is to have Becky return. They discussed plans for later in the game. Liz said that Final 5 with James and Meg would be good. Julia said that someone would need to get James out. Liz acknowledged that James is really good. They felt that Meg would have a tough time winning the game, since she has not won anything. Liz told Julia that she too needs to win something, otherwise she will not be able to win the game. Julia said that the only reason that she wants to keep James and Meg around is that they need someone to take Steve out for them. Austin joined the twins and said that he has a nice long talk with Vanessa. He said that she is feeling good about things again. Austin revealed the gambling stakes agreement that Vanessa wants to make with him. He said that you aren’t allowed to split prize money with someone, but setting them up with a gambling stake is not the same thing. He figured that Vanessa was talking to him about this in order to secure that he takes her to the Final 2. Julia asked what happens if Vanessa loses all of the money. Austin said that she wouldn’t care, since she has made lots of money, possibly millions. Austin told the girls that gamblers are dangerous, because they will do anything to win. Julia said that she does not want to be the one to take out Vanessa. Austin said that she needs to win an HoH but next week might not be the week for her to do it, because everyone else would target Vanessa.
6:00-7:00 PM: Austin spoke to James and Meg. James asked what the plan is for the eviction. Austin said that they are voting Becky out, unless she comes up with some dirt on John. Austin told them that Vanessa wants to make a deal with John in which John would get her vote in exchange for not nominating or backdooring her. Austin said that John already told him that if Vanessa makes a deal, he will say yes but will go back on it. Austin let Meg know that Vanessa sees her as a question mark and feels that James talks to her but Meg does not.
9:00-10:00 PM: John asked Steve if they need to win HoH this week. Steve said that it would be a good idea. He felt that it would give them the opportunity to make the deal that they need to make. John was concerned that they would be seen as the bigger threat than James and Meg once Vanessa is gone. Steve asked if John still think that taking Vanessa out is the right move. John said yes. John thought that they needed to get some protection, since they are only two people and cannot win every HoH. Steve said that they have two options. John said that they either go with Austin and the twins or they go with James and Meg. John felt that they would be the smaller threat if they are with Austin and the twins. On the other hand, he thought that they would be the bigger threat than James and Meg. For that reason, John felt that it would be best to go with Austin and the twins. Steve asked if they should do a Final 5 with them or add Vanessa into the mix and make it a Final 6. John preferred to get Vanessa out. Steve thought that she would be good to keep around to be a target in front of them. John thought that he would be Vanessa’s main target and it is not worth it to keep her around. Steve mentioned that Shelli wouldn’t be a bad person to have come back. John agreed but said that Vanessa would have to be gone. John felt that Becky coming back would be best, since the Goblins would look like a trio again. He suggested that being perceived as having fewer numbers would be best.
1:00-2:00 AM: John and Steve discussed making a five person alliance with Austin and the twins. Steve was still questioning if it is best to bring Vanessa in as well, because he does not want to go into it outnumbered. John did not want her included, as she cannot be trusted. John said that he plans to target her, nominating James and Meg as pawns. Steve head upstairs to talk to the twins. They said that they are still on board with working with John. Steve then brought John up. Julia told John that she will definitely be voting for him and that they want to work with him. They discussed the plan moving forward. Julia said that they are scared to take out Vanessa and they would throw HoH to John if they can. John said that he would make the move, since he has been wanting to take Vanessa out for weeks. Steve said that they have to be careful since it’s going to be the last week before someone returns. John said that Vanessa will not win the competition to come back. There was some discussion about keeping Vanessa an extra week as a target for whoever comes back. Steve said that it’s best to focus on winning HoH before they talk about that any further.
