BB17 Day 71 - John returns and Vanessa wins HoH

9:00-10:00 AM: John told Meg that at some point today he is going to be told that he is going home, so he has nothing to lose and will tell her everything. He said that Steve approached him with a Final 2 deal around Week 4 or 5, though they have not been on the same page with everything. John said that he wanted to send Vanessa out during the double eviction, but Steve wanted to send Jackie out. John told Meg that last week Steve brought him upstairs to make a Final 5 with Austin, Liz and Julia. John said that Steve then brought him downstairs and revealed that he had a Final 4 with Austin, Liz and Vanessa since the “Gronk Pong” competition, which became a Final 5 with Julia. John said that Steve has been the lap dog for them for a long time. John said that Austin and the twins are probably saying to send him, Vanessa, or the returning juror out next, while they are telling him to take James out. John said that he is pretty sure that he can convince Vanessa to flip. Meg said that the others wanted Steve to stay but it is better for their games to have John. John said that he is willing to say that he orchestrated it all and come after him. John told Meg that he is willing to ask Liz and Julia to nominate him and he will sit down during the veto competition and ask to be voted out if that side wins. He pointed out that it would be four of them against Liz in the HoH competition, since Austin cannot play and Julia has not won. John told Meg that Steve would not turn on Austin and the twins this week. John said that he can get James, Meg and Vanessa together at about 5:00 PM if everyone is on board. Meg said that Steve will not tell her who he is targeting. John said that it’s time for a blindside. Meg told John that he can let Vanessa know that they are flip flopping.

10:00-11:00 AM: Meg told James that John thinks that he can get Vanessa to flip. John then spoke to James and told him about his Final 2 with Steve and that he wanted to get rid of Vanessa during the double eviction. John then revealed that Steve has been in a Final 4 with Vanessa, Austin, Liz and then a Final 5 with Julia. John said that he then got brought in, in place of Vanessa. John explained that he told Vanessa that and then she flipped out. John pointed out that they have been loyal to Steve, so he will not go after them, but he will go after Austin, Liz and Julia if he stays. Like he told Meg, John said that he would own it all after the eviction and say that he orchestrated it. John said that he was told that he has to nominate James and whoever comes back, as well as Meg if needed. John said that they are letting Austin and the twins pick them off one by one if they don’t make this move. James said that the only way that they can do it is if Vanessa tells them that she is on board. John said that they can send him out if she does not tell them that she is down to make the move.

James and Meg discussed keeping John over Steve. Meg told James that she wants to talk to Vanessa. James said that they don’t want to give her any ammo to come after them next week. Meg said that she wants to tell Vanessa, Austin and Liz that they know about the Final 5 that they have with Steve. Meg said that they will find out that they flipped anyway. James said that he knew that they were being targeted. James told Meg that one of them is going home next week. James said that the information that John gave seems accurate. James told Meg that Austin showed his hand yesterday when he said that Steve wont flip on them. Meg told Austin that Steve has been weird and hasn’t said anything. Austin said that Steve was talking fine to them. Austin said that he reassured Steve that everyone is voting for him and it’s not just the three of them saving him. Meg said that Steve is giving her a weird feeling this morning. Austin told James and Meg to make Steve give his word that he will put up the returning juror, cause then it’s hard to go back on it. Meg said “I guess”. Meg said that Steve seems very confident today and it annoys her a lot, since you should at least go to the people that are voting. Austin told James and Meg that Steve does not throw their names out there. Austin said that Steve probably figures that Liz, Julia and Vanessa are voting together, so he focused on them.

After Austin left, James said that Austin was defending Steve. Meg agreed and said that he was getting a little nervous. Meg said that Austin is going to start freaking out now. James said that this proves that there is more than one Final 5 out there. Meg wondered if they should out their Final 5 with Austin and the twins to Vanessa. She said that Austin would know right away that they told. James said that they would know when John stays. Meg asked if they are going to blow it up. James said that it’s about time, since the others have a good team and Steve seems to be on their side. Meg said that they really need Jackie or Becky to come back. Vanessa joined James and Meg. Meg said that she wants to make sure that they are making the right decision. Meg said that they are hearing that everyone has been told the same thing by Austin and the twins. James said that they have heard about a lot of Final 5 and 6 deals. Vanessa said that if James and Meg tell them that they have a deal that doesn’t include her, then she will do whatever they want. Meg said that they made it seems like they were a Final 5 and Vanessa was the sixth, just like they did with John and Steve. Vanessa asked if she has been cut out of Brass Tacks. Meg mentioned that these talks were last week. Meg said that her concerns it that John was told the same things that she was told and that Steve seems to have no desire to talk to them about their votes cause he feels like he has got enough secured. Vanessa said that there would be big consequences if the three of them go against Austin and the twins.

Austin told Steve that Meg is a little angry that Steve has not been talking to her. Liz then came down and broke up the talk between James, Meg and Vanessa. Meg told Liz about her concern that Steve has not yet talked to her about her vote. Meg then told Julia that John is campaigning like he should be and she is pissed that Steve hasn’t talked to her. Julia went up to the HoH room with Liz. Julia said that James and Meg are being sketchy. Julia said that if Meg is going to start this, she is going on the block. Julia felt that James and Meg were being so fake, since they didn’t tell them about their concerns with Steve last night when everyone was making the decision. Julia said that she is so done with John and he is going if he is going to throw them under the bus. Julia said that James was such a coward and wouldn’t say anything, letting Meg speak for him. Steve came up to the HoH room. The twins let him know that James and Meg are concerned that he is not campaigning. Vanessa joined them in the HoH room. Vanessa told Steve that he needs to talk to James and Meg more, cause they are feeling uneasy since they think that he is going after James. Austin told Steve that he can hint that he is coming after him. Downstairs, John told James that Austin and the twins are making deals with everyone, so that they all have to go after each other unless they go back on their words.

1:00-2:00 PM: James told Meg that they will have to see what Vanessa says. She said that Vanessa may end up wanting to flip the votes, though she also may have a five person deal with Steve and want to keep him. Meg said that Vanessa does have that deal. Meg let Austin know that John is saying that there is a five person alliance between Austin, Liz, Julia, John and Steve. Meg said that they are nervous that Steve is being kept to do their dirty work. Austin said that it’s not true and that Vanessa wanted to have John and Steve on their side so that they can play both sides and she could throw HoH. Austin said that he won HoH anyway and they chose to be on James and Meg’s side. Austin let James and Meg know that their true Final 5 is with them and that they are letting Steve and Vanessa hear what they want to hear. Austin assured them that Steve is going after the returning juror. Austin said that Steve would also likely go after Vanessa before he goes after James and Meg, since they still have some issues between them. Austin suggested that James and Meg talk to Steve to ease their minds.

Steve spoke to Meg. She said that her concern is that she is hearing that Steve is coming after James. She also mentioned her concern that Steve has not talked to them much. Steve explained that people shoot themselves in the foot more often by doing too much rather than too little. He did not want to campaign more than he needed to. He said that he took the same approach with everyone. Steve said that he will be nominating the returning jury member and a pawn. Meg let him know that she and James have no issue with Steve. Steve said that he doesn’t have an issue with them either. Steve asked how the others would use him after putting him in this spot. Meg said that he could make a deal to stay in exchange for doing whatever Austin, the twins and Vanessa want. Steve said that it didn’t happen and that the only deals that he had were based on people reciprocating him keeping them safe during his HoH, though that is now done. James then had the same talk with Steve. Meg went to John and let him know that he doesn’t have the votes, so they cannot keep him. John said that he would talk to Vanessa again. Meg said that it’s a risky move for people to make. Meg then gave Vanessa the heads up that she told John that he doesn’t have the votes and also that he said plans to talk to Vanessa again. Vanessa was irritated about that, since she said that she told John that she is voting with the twins. Vanessa eventually told John that she is on her own and can’t save him with her one vote. She said that it was decided by the others last night and the decision was told to her.

6:00-7:00 PM: During tonight’s live show, John was evicted by a unanimous vote of 5-0. The four jurors were brought on stage and entered the house, through the front door. Julie announced that they would all be competiing in the same competition. The last juror standing gets back in the game, while the last one remaining, juror or not, will become the new HoH.

7:00-8:00 PM: The HoH competition wrapped up within 10 minutes. By the time that feeds returned, James had dropped out. Liz and Vanessa were up with all four jurors. Becky, Jackie, Liz and Shelli all dropped out within a minute or two of each other, leaving John and Vanessa as the only two standing. Both John and Vanessa tried to cut a deal with the other, telling them that they are safe if they fall. Vanessa said that she wants to hear from her girlfriend and she can keep going for an hour. John said that he has something that he has to do, so they can play it out. John fell a minute later. John is back in the game and Vanessa is the new HoH. Austin and the twins were concerned about John being back in the game. Austin felt that John’s comment about why he could not drop was in reference to him wanting to come after he and the twins. Austin said that they should have got Steve out and then he wouldn’t have come back, though they had no way of knowing that the competition would be this one. Liz was quite concerned that John would win the PoV.

Vanessa spoke to Austin and said that she does not know why John turned down her offer of safety. Austin said that John was likely going to nominate him and Vanessa together, backdooring the twins if needed. Vanessa told Austin that his “Angels” stayed in control anyway. Austin told Vanessa that he is scared of John. Vanessa said that she has a lot of thinking to do and needs to do what is best for her game. Austin agreed and told her that what is best for her game will be best for their games. Vanessa assured him that he and the twins would be 100% safe and not even touch the block. Steve told Vanessa that he is not sure if he can trust John anymore. Vanessa said that Austin and the twins want her to target John but she does not think that it’s the best move. She felt that the two of them and John could beat Austin and the twins in any competition, so they need each other. Steve said that he agrees with what she is saying and they can talk tonight. Vanessa told him to really think about it cause she values his opinion. Steve went to John and said that he thinks that this is good. He asked if John trusts Vanessa again. John said yeah. Steve said that he does as well. Steve spoke to the cameras and said that a Final 3 of him, John and Vanessa isn’t bad. He said that the best Final 3 is when you are aligned with both people and they aren’t aligned with each other. He said that he would take John to the Final 2 over Vanessa if it came down to it, since he would be easier to beat now that he has been evicted once already.

8:00-9:00 PM: Vanessa spoke to John and asked him if he fell during the competition. John said that he did. Vanessa said that she was wondering why he wouldn’t have taken the deal if not. John told her that he couldn’t accept that publicly. Vanessa said that John is good anyway. She said that they can keep their feud going but there is no feud on her end. John said that there isn’t on his end either. Vanessa told John that everyone is assuming that she will put him up but they have no idea what’s coming. Austin spoke to Vanessa and told her that John’s game play is textbook how you don’t play this game. He said that John now has to win veto every week to stay. Austin eventually told Vanessa that if she has bigger plans then she can do whatever she wants. Vanessa said that she has got to do what she has got to do. She said that she will need reasons for whatever she does. Vanessa brought up that leaving a known duo that is strong in competitions is beneficial as a shield, so keeping John and Steve in could be good.

After hearing that John may be staying, Austin went to John and told him that he knows that John was probably coming at him with that comment. John said that it’s nothing personal. Austin said that hopefully they can start over. John said that it’s all game. Austin told John that he will not hold a grudge and he knows that if John had come after him it would have been a game move. John said that he knows that Austin was in a bad situation where he had a deal with everyone and had to break it with someone. Austin said that he no longer has those deals and they can start over. John agreed. Vanessa then told Austin that James and Meg are the only two that did not congratulate her. Vanessa said that while Austin and the twins feel good with James and Meg, she does not. Vanessa said that she hates targeting those two but she feels that it is the better move. Vanessa let Austin and the twins know that James and Meg were wanting to get Steve out because those three have been using him and want him to stay. Vanessa said that they were really feeling her out and were open to flipping the vote today. Vanessa said that John could go on the block if James wins PoV. Vanessa asked that she not be the pawn if they win next week, asking that Steve go up instead.

9:00-10:00 PM: Vanessa told Austin and the twins that she is fine with either James or Meg going this week. She pointed out that Meg is the one that is more likely to win a days competition. She said that Meg is strong socially and she does not want her floating to the end. Vanessa said that James began to drift away from Austin and the twins a bit once he found out about the five person alliance. Elsewhere, James and Meg discussed their thoughts on what Vanessa would do. Meg said that it wasn’t the week for them to win HoH anyway. James said that it is if one of them ends up going home. Meg told James that there is no reason for Vanessa to send one of them out. James was worried about John winning the PoV. Meg said that Steve should then be the one to go, because he is Vanessa’s competition in mental comps. Meg told James that she feels closer to Vanessa than ever before, cause she thinks that Vanessa finally gets her on a personal level.

10:00-11:00 PM: Liz was concerned that James and Meg would try to tell Vanessa that they cut her out of the Brass Tacks alliance. Julia figured that there was no need to even bring it up. Austin disagreed and said that things like that do not go away and Vanessa would rather hear about it. Austin and Liz figured that they could explain that it was during Liz’s HoH when they still had questions about Vanessa. Austin went to talk things over with Vanessa. She told him that Meg had already told her about them cutting her out of the alliance. Vanessa said that she did not find it to be a big deal. They begun discussing down the line in terms of Final 4 scenarios. Vanessa said that he can’t imagine Austin stick to their Final 2 deal if Liz is with them in the Final 3. Austin said that it would be tough but he would choose Vanessa over Julia if it came down to it in the Final 4. If that happened, Austin said that he may just bow out of the final HoH competition so that he doesn’t have to make the decision between taking Liz or taking Vanessa. He figured that it would be like a Mike Boogie situation when he dropped out during BB7, thinking that both girls would have to take him. Vanessa said that she would never turn on Austin and the twins and hopes that they would not turn on her. She wanted to make some kind of a deal to make it a little more beneficial for her to go to the Final 4 with them. She suggested a deal in which Julia would take her to the Final 3 over Austin, since Liz would take Austin over her. Austin agreed that they could do something like that. Vanessa also wanted to find a way to convince the twins that they are only winning an extra $25,000 each if they get both 1st and 2nd, as opposed to having just one of them at the end. She thought that they could make a deal in which that $25,000 could be made up to them in exchange for one of them getting taken out sooner.

11:00-12:00 AM: After Vanessa got her HoH room, she spoke to Austin and the twins. She said that she needs some reasons for nominating James and Meg. It was brought up that Meg told John to go throw her under the bus during Liz’s HoH. As for James, Austin suggested using that he did not let her know that he revealed that he threw the Battle of the Block competition, making her look dumb. Vanessa liked that and said that he opportunistically took advantage of the situation, trying to make her a target when all that she was doing was keeping her word by not telling. Vanessa said that she wants John to feel good with the group and not think that he is the #6. Vanessa said that she will not nominate John if he agrees that he will go after whoever is left between James and Meg next week. Vanessa said that she does not plan to tell James and Meg that they are going up. She said that she can explain it all afterwards. Julia said that the nominations will hopefully stay the same and James can go. Austin said that Meg is just as bad. Vanessa said that she is fine with either one going. They discussed that Austin and the twins can tell James and Meg that all that Vanessa said is that she will do what is best for her game. Julia stayed behind to talk to Vanessa for a few minutes. Vanessa made her a deal that they will take each other to the Final 2 unless Liz is there with them for Julia to take. Julia agreed to the deal.

12:00-1:00 AM: James and Meg spoke to Vanessa. She asked them if they thought that John accepted her deal. Meg said no and that John slipped. Vanessa said that she is open to making some big moves. She asked if there is any information that they would like her to have. James said that there are a lot of Final 5 deals out there and he does not know which one is real. After going over some of the rumoured deals, Vanessa said that there is no Final 5 between her, Austin, Liz, Julia and Steve. She said that John was taking a shot in the dark when he came up with that one. Vanessa brought up that it is unlikely that neither John nor Steve would win the veto if they were nominated together again like they were last week. Vanessa asked how James and Meg feel about being pawns. Meg said that nobody likes to be a pawn and the numbers may not be in their favour at this point. James said that he wouldn’t mind going up before Meg if one of them has to go on the block. Meg begun crying and told Vanessa to please put her up before James. Meg explained that it’s the better decision game wise, since it’s less likely that she leaves if she is up on a Thursday as compared to James being up there. James said that’s fine but he can be the one that goes up initially. Vanessa asked if they are willing to make deals. James said that he would not nominate or backdoor Vanessa if she does not use them as pawns this week. Meg said that she does not win HoHs but she is not interested in going after Vanessa either. Vanessa asked for their word. They gave it. Before heading out, James again said to nominate him before Meg. Vanessa said that she hears them but she will do what is best for her game.

Vanessa next spoke to Steve. She told him that before John left, she asked him if she could trust Steve and he said yes. Vanessa said that John mentioned that they were in a named two person alliance, though he did not reveal the name. Vanessa pointed out that John, Steve and herself are stronger than Austin and the twins. Steve asked if that is her ideal Final 6. Vanessa didn’t see why not. She figured that it would be best if John won and took the shot at the others at that point. Meanwhile, James and Meg discussed their chat with Vanessa. James said that he doesn’t think that Vanessa is as close with Austin and the others as they had thought. He also said that he would be very shocked if Vanessa throws them up on the block after the deal that they offered and the talk that they had. Back up in the HoH room, Vanessa informed John that James and Meg are under the impression that he is the target. Vanessa said that he is not the target in reality. Vanessa told John that Austin and the twins are concerned that he would come after them, so they want to hear that he would be willing to take out whoever remains between James and Meg. Prior to Steve leaving the room, John, Steve and Vanessa agreed that they need to stick together and not go after each other.

1:00-2:00 AM: Vanessa told John that she is willing to have the Final 6 be herself, John, Steve, Austin, Julia and Liz, since they are the stronger competitors. Vanessa said that Austin and the twins are going to want John to go up as the pawn if the veto is used, though she does not want to do that. She asked John who he would suggest that she nominate. John said Julia. Vanessa thought Liz, though John explained that she can win competitions and Julia cannot. Vanessa then agreed that Julia would be the better option. As for the target, John said that Meg may be the best one to take out. Vanessa said that she actually agrees with him. John figured that James would then side with them over Austin and the twins, since there is a possibility of them splitting but Austin and the twins will always stick together. Vanessa said that the reason that keeping Meg is ideal is that she cannot win competitions. Vanessa told John that she needs him to act as though he accepted her deal that she offered him during the HoH competition, because she needs to use that as a reason for not nominating him. Vanessa again told John that he will not be a pawn, since it’s too risky and she cannot afford to take that risk. John said that they could go to the Final 6 with Austin and the twins if they want to be loyal. They then wondered if it would be dumb to target Meg over Austin and the twins next week. They agreed that it would be dumb. John said that he can do whatever the hell he wants if he wins HoH. Vanessa agreed and said that it is great.
