BB17 Day 73 - James wins the Power of Veto
August 29, 2015
10:00-11:00 AM: The veto players were chosen. Vanessa, James, Meg, Austin, Julia and Liz will be competing. James told Meg that he wants to get through to Austin that this is there opportunity to get John or Steve out, if Austin or the twins win the veto and use it. Meg said that they are all such babies. James said that he would be upset if he was Liz and Austin does not offer to sit on the block for her. James asked what Vanessa’s worst fear is. Meg said that it would be that James wins the veto and then goes after her. James said that he would. Meg still thought that Vanessa would try to get James to work with her. James said that he isn’t sure that he would be able tot rust that. Meg figured that Austin and Liz would want to win the veto, since they are afraid that they would go on the block. James thought that John or Steve would go up, but Meg figured that Vanessa would be concerned that the votes would flip if so. Meg said that she has feelings about these things and believes that she is going to be the one to go. James said that it would not be smart to keep him, cause Vanessa knows deep down that she is not worried about Meg in competitions.
Up in the HoH room, Austin told Vanessa that the veto player selection went well. Austin felt that James and Meg had been working on John in hope of getting him to use the veto on them. Vanessa said that she was thinking the same thing. Vanessa told Austin that they cannot have James come off of the block, cause it would be terrible and she cannot see a way to send Meg out if that happens. Austin asked if Vanessa would want to leave James and Meg in the game together. Vanessa said no but she cannot guarantee that the votes would be there to get Meg out. Vanessa mentioned the scenario in which Steve goes up. Austin said that they would not vote Steve out unless Vanessa wants them to. Vanessa replied by questioning if they would be stupid not to at that point. She said that that’s what makes things difficult. Austin and Vanessa agreed that they just need the veto in their possession to prevent these things from becoming an issue. They begun strategizing for a potential counting competition. Meanwhile, James told Meg that he is ready for the competition. He said that he would run through a wall right now if it would get him a veto. He told Meg that he is really pumped, since he knows that he has got to win this veto for the both of them. He also said that he will feel that he let them both down if he loses.
11:00-12:00 PM: Vanessa told Austin that the only way that James and Meg both stay is if James wins the veto, saves himself and either John or Steve really screw up and make her want to target them more so than Meg. Vanessa thought that James and John would soon realize that they need each other, since they are in similar positions. Austin said that James and John together in the house really scares him and that he thinks that one of them needs to go this week. Vanessa asked if Austin trusts Steve. Austin said to an extent but he wondered who Steve would vote for if he was up on the block next to a twin. Vanessa asked if Austin would want Steve to vote for him. He said that he obviously would and that he is not going to pull a Clay. Vanessa figured that Steve would definitely keep Austin over Liz then, so she was not sure who Steve would choose between Austin and Julia. Vanessa suggested that keeping John over Steve may be best, since she would have a better shot at beating John in a veto competition. She felt that she had a similar skill set to Steve but Steve was better. Austin pointed out that they would then lose a number in the HoH competition. Austin and Vanessa discussed their Final 4 with the twins. Vanessa told Austin that he is in the best spot, since he has the stronger twin and her on his side. She suggested that they would need to make a deal to even things up a bit. Vanessa wanted Julia to choose her over Austin if it came down to it. Vanessa said that she would choose Julia over Liz, since Austin is choosing Liz over Julia. She also said that she would choose Austin over the twins. It was assumed that Liz and Julia would always choose each other, and that Austin and Liz would both choose each other over Vanessa. Austin said that he was on board with it all. Austin then headed down and told Liz that Vanessa is worried about John and that he may go if James wins the veto. Liz asked why. Austin explained that James and John would be a deadly combination. Liz hoped that James would still go, though Austin said that John is just as big of a threat.
5:00–6:00 PM: The feeds returned after the veto competition. It was the “Hide & Go Veto”. James won the Power of Veto. Meg asked James if it feels good. James said yeah and it feels right, like karma, since they did not deserve to go up on the block. James told Meg that he will try to make a deal with Austin and the twins to save her. He said that they have to know that Vanessa is a sitting duck next week. Meg figured that Steve would go on the block, cause Vanessa would know that Austin and the twins are likely to keep him. James said that he plans to swear to Austin and the twins that he will throw Vanessa on the block with whoever remains between John and Steve. He said that he would threaten Austin and tell him that he will be going after each one of them if Meg goes home. James said that this will be his week to show that he is not playing games anymore. Julia headed up to the HoH room to check on Vanessa. Julia asked if Vanessa would prefer to send Meg home. She said that she doesn’t know now, since James and John together would be scary. Vanessa also said that there is no way that Meg will go home at this point, since the only person that she may have left over is James. Vanessa pointed out that Austin and the twins would be dumb to evict Meg over John, so it would be tough to believe their word that they would evict Meg. Julia said that she is fine with targeting Meg, though she thought that Austin and Liz would probably want John out. Vanessa said that she really wants Meg to go. Julia said that she would not mind it either, since she does not want Meg floating to the end. She told Vanessa that they would have to talk with Austin and Liz later. Meanwhile, James and Meg explained to Austin that they had never said that they would nominate two of Austin, Liz and Julia. James said that he also can say whatever he wants to Vanessa cause it doesn’t mean that he is actually going to do it. James made it clear that he will go after Vanessa, since she put him on the block twice for petty reasons. James said that he doesn’t care who tells Vanessa that he is after her, cause he will say it to her face.
6:00-7:00 PM: Austin told Liz that James is definitely gunning for Vanessa now. He said that James and Meg brought up some good points and James explained that he was telling Vanessa what she wanted to hear. Liz said that she wants to hear James say that he did not tell Vanessa that he would nominate two of them, because she knows that he did. Austin said that he believes that James and Meg would nominate Steve and Vanessa, which would allow them to save Vanessa. Julia joined them and said that Vanessa is freaking out, worrying that they will not vote to evict Meg. Austin initially said that if Vanessa wants Meg to go, they will do what she wants. However, he pointed out that leaving James and John in the game together is not good. Julia said that Vanessa brought that up as well, though she wants Meg to go. Austin said that he believes that it will be John or Meg going. He mentioned that Meg is not a threat. Austin didn’t think that Vanessa would be smart to risk putting Steve on the block. They discussed that they will have to talk everything over with Vanessa later.
Austin told Vanessa that James talked to him but still wont admit that he would nominate two of them, though he believes Vanessa. Vanessa said that Meg has to go. She said that it would be the stupidest thing to leave James and Meg in the game together, giving James the power of having that additional vote. Vanessa asked if nominating Steve would ensure that Meg goes. Austin said that nominating John ensures it, if that is what she wants. Vanessa said that nominating John is too risky, since he could come after her. She said that she believes that Steve would understand being a pawn. Vanessa again said that she 100% wants Meg to go. Austin said that he will do what she wants, though the worry in evicting Meg is that James and John could align. Vanessa wondered what James would do if he won HoH. Austin told her that she would definitely go on the block but that is fine as long as Steve goes up with her. Austin felt that there is no deal that James would make if they voted to evict Meg. He admitted that James would probably not keep the deal anyway, but there is a chance. Vanessa asked what Austin thought about using Julia as a pawn, guaranteeing that Meg would go home. Austin said that Liz and Julia would not be happy. Austin said that Meg may not be the right one to target, seeing as she is immediately out of any physical competition. Austin told Vanessa that they need to figure out John’s true mental state.
7:00-8:00 PM: Vanessa told Steve that John has still not come up to her HoH room this week, which is concerning her. She said that for John to be loyal to them when they are loyal to Austin and the twins is stupid. Vanessa said that she can put a pawn up that guarantees that Meg leaves or she can put up another target. She told Steve that he will not be going up. She said that if she does not nominate Austin or the twins, they have to vote the way that she wants. Vanessa told Steve that John will not look her in the eye. Steve said that John spoke to him earlier in the week and said that he is 100% cool with Vanessa. He said that it may have changed but he has no reason to believe that it has. Steve asked if he could tell John to come talk to her. Vanessa said no cause she wants him to do it on his own, so that she can tell if it is genuine. Vanessa let Steve know that Austin and the twins are making the case that James and John are more dangerous than James and Meg. Steve said that he would agree if both of those existed, though he does not believe that James and John are actually together. Vanessa asked Steve if he would vote to keep her over Austin or the twins. Steve said yes. Austin and Liz spoke to Vanessa. Austin said that he can see John winning the Final 6 veto comp and screwing them over. Vanessa said she believes that Steve told John about the five of them, which could concern John. Vanessa began going over the options for the replacement nominee. She said that Steve cannot go up, since she needs him to go up next to her if James win HoH. She then pointed out that Austin and Liz are big targets and cannot go up. She said that she knows that Julia would be safe as the pawn, so that is one option. If John goes up, Vanessa felt that she would lose him and then he would have to be the target. Austin said that it’s possible that they could make it clear that they saved him and reel him in if they chose to save him.
Julia joined them and Vanessa explained the options for the replacement nominee. Julia said that she is fine with it if she knows that she is not going, though she is a huge target since people want to break up the twins. Austin said that James and John are threatening to leave in the game, but he admitted that he has incentive to say that since John is after him. Vanessa said that she would be fine if James or Meg won HoH, as long as they do not nominate her with one of the twins or Austin. Austin said that John is likely to go rogue, rather than nominate James and Steve. Liz said that she is not scared of Meg at all but cannot say the same for John. Vanessa said that Austin and the twins would control the votes if she nominated Steve. Austin said that they would keep Steve over Meg. Vanessa brought up that Steve would try harder to win HoH if Meg is still in the game, but he would be upset at her for getting John out. Austin said that Steve would understand why they have to get John out, because they have already taken him out once and have to expect that he would be after them. Vanessa felt that getting Meg out does not help her long term chances of winning the game. Her concern was that Meg would never go. Austin discussed that Meg would be an easy person to take out during the double eviction. He said that they could bring James and Meg in, making them feel that they owe them their lives. By the end of the conversation, Vanessa said that she is heavily leaning towards nominating John based on their conversation. She wanted to talk to John and also to James to see how he feels about her nominating someone that would ensure that Meg stays.
8:00-9:00 PM: Out in the backyard, James told John that he is probably going on the block. He had observed that everyone was up in the HoH room talking. James advised John to go upstairs and tell Vanessa that they had a deal. James said that he will be going after Vanessa if he wins HoH. James told John and Meg that there is no playing nice anymore. John headed up to the HoH room and broke up the conversation. Meg told James that John is a good guy and she doesn’t like when the others talk about him so much. James agreed and said that he wishes that they had brought him in earlier on. James said that there is no way that Austin is being 100% truthful with them. He figured that everyone is still covering for Austin at this point. Meg said that Vanessa is going to have no votes in jury. James agreed. He said that Vanessa is playing the game by saying that she had to do things and she is the victim, which he hates. Austin made his way outside and told Meg that he is trying to present every scenario as to why keeping Meg is a good idea. He said that John would be the one going up if that happens. Austin told James and Meg that Vanessa wants to know that there is some hope for her next week and that she would not go up next to him and have her fate sealed by that move. Austin told James and Meg that Vanessa may need to know the stuff that John is saying to them. James and Meg clarified that they have no beef with Austin and the twins.
John, Steve and Vanessa spoke up in the HoH room. Vanessa said that Austin, Liz and Julia are saying that they will vote the way that she wants. John said that Austin, Liz and Julia will probably get rid of him if is nominated. Vanessa agreed but said that there are not many options that would ensure that Meg leaves. Steve’s name then came up. John said that Austin and the twins love Steve and would evict Meg over him. Vanessa said that she does not like that Austin and the twins are pressuring her to keep Meg when they know that she wanted either James or Meg to go this week. Vanessa said that those three are probably scared that John is after them and rightfully so. Vanessa said that they are concerned that John has been hanging out with James lately. However, she said that she does not need to nominate John and hope that Austin and the twins vote the way that she wants, cause she could nominate someone that ensures that Meg leaves. John said Julia. Steve was asked if he would for sure keep Julia over Meg. Steve said yes.
9:00-10:00 PM: John told Vanessa that last week he volunteered to go up as a pawn and he was sent home, even though Austin and the twins were in a group with him. Vanessa mentioned that those three will push for Steve to go up over Julia if she wants Meg to be the target. She said that if John goes up, Austin and the twins will want him to guarantee that he will keep them safe if he wins, so he would have to go back on his word to someone. John hinted that he would be fine with going back on his word to those three in order to keep his word to Steve and Vanessa. Vanessa asked John and Steve to think everything over and come talk to her tomorrow. Afterwards, Steve told Vanessa that he did not tell John to come up to the HoH room. Vanessa said that it is fine and asked if he believes that John would not nominate her next week if she does not nominate him. Steve said that he does not think that John would come after Vanessa, especially after the comment that he had just made about not keeping his word with Austin and the twins. Vanessa asked if Steve would rather go up or have John go up if it comes down to that. Steve said that he does not want to go up. Vanessa said that he would be safe but John would definitely go. Steve still said that he does not want to be nominated. Steve brought up that Austin, Liz and Julia are looking out for the three of them alone and not for her. Vanessa agreed but pointed out that they are three people and she could upset them all and have them use her as a pawn if she nominates Julia.
10:00-11:00 PM: James joked about using the veto on Meg in exchange for getting to share a bed with her and cuddle with her during a trip to New York. Meg said that she would kill him if he even thought about using the veto on her. Meg wondered if it was bad that they are the only ones not to have talked to Vanessa tonight. James said no and that Vanessa is scared and doesn’t know what to do. James did mention that he would like to talk to Vanessa to let her know that he is mad before someone else is able to tell her. Meg figured that it was best for them to talk to Vanessa separately. Out on the hammock, John told Steve that he does not think that Vanessa will put him up. John and Steve agreed that they are likely to go if they are nominated. John said that they need to make sure that Vanessa knows that. John said that they cannot go after James next week if they win, since they need to go after Austin and the twins. Steve said that he does not know. Steve asked if John trusts James. He said that he could, since he knows the position that he is in and feels that they could reel him in after he finishes venting about everything. John mentioned that Austin and the twins are going to send everyone out at some point. Steve agreed. He told John to make it clear that he is 100% Team Vanessa and that she is safe with him. John said that she actually is, since he would go after Austin and the twins even though he will say whatever he needs to say to them to get through this week. John even suggested that James and Meg would work with them longer than those three would. However, he said that they will have to send Meg out if that is what Vanessa wants. Steve said that that’s where they are at right now. John said that he has no reason to get rid of Steve or Vanessa, because he likes that Final 3 and the people on the outside seem to as well.
11:00-12:00 AM: Meg went to speak to Vanessa. She told her that she wanted to check in tonight and let her know that she really wants to stay in the house. Meg said that she does not think that targeting her is the smartest game move for Vanessa. Vanessa let her know that she is totally open minded and that what she did was just a game move. Vanessa brought up that multiple people have told her that James is vocalizing that she is his target. She said that taking Meg out would weaken James, so she should talk to James and let him know that what he is doing is a terrible strategy and it is impacting her decision. Meg said that James does want to talk to her and said that he had wanted to let her know what he was saying before anyone else could. Meg told Vanessa that James is more open to things that she thinks. Vanessa said that she is willing to listen. Vanessa said that she will do what is best for her game and there is definitely hope for Meg. Vanessa suggested that it is likely that things will work out in Meg’s favour because there is just a little hurdle to get past.
Meg let James know that he needs to kiss Vanessa’s ass, cause she is saying that one of the main reasons that she would want to take Meg out is cause of how James is acting. Meg said that Vanessa is saying that multiple people told her that James is threatening her. James said that he is. James eventually headed up to the HoH room. He told Vanessa that he has been on the block twice when she was HoH, so he wants to know how things are between them. Vanessa said that there is nothing personal between them and it came down to her options being limited. Vanessa brought up that four people had told her that James is upset with her. James reminded Vanessa that she had made a deal with him that she would not nominate him or a person of his choosing. Vanessa said that James breached her trust and made it clear that she is expendable to him, which led to him being expendable to her. James pointed out that she told Austin that he cannot be trusted, which was also breaching trust. Vanessa went back to the talk that they had on Thursday night and said that James planned to nominate two people from the Brass Tacks, so that shows that he was not loyal to it.
James said that Vanessa remembers every little bit of information from each conversation and then brings it up later. He told Vanessa that she is playing the game too hard. Vanessa said that that is James’ opinion. She questioned if he is insulting her and told him that it is best for James to go downstairs. Vanessa asked if James is the expert and won last season or something that she does not know about. She told James that making it clear that she is this big of an enemy is only giving her reason to take out his #1, Meg. James clarified that he was just asking why they can’t have a talk that will not be used later on. Vanessa told James that he just has to ask for her word and then it will not leave the room. Vanessa let James know that she is super disappointed in the conversation and she feels confused and insulted. Vanessa explained that James was not even her target. Vanessa later let James know that she got heated for a second because she felt insulted. James apologized. She said that her feelings were hurt but she does not believe that James meant to insult her.
12:00-1:00 AM: Vanessa told James that she will have to do what will minimize her odds of going on the block next week, since she cannot play in the HoH competition to defend herself. James asked that the two of them can be cool with each other from this point on. Vanessa said that they are. She said that it has been a weird journey and she wishes that things could have been different. Vanessa told James that given what she now knows, if she could have picked anyone to be her #2 it would have been James. Vanessa asked James to keep an open mind if he wins HoH, giving her a chance to have a conversation with him. Vanessa said that she would have some points to make that could be compelling. James assured Vanessa that things are definitely not set in stone with her and that he does not hold grudges. Vanessa asked what John would do if he won HoH. James said that he does not know and that John would not give him any names earlier. He did mention that John told him that Steve and Vanessa were involved in a five person alliance. Vanessa denied it and said that John said the same thing to her and was just fishing for information. James said that this week is important and will go a long way in setting Vanessa up moving forward, so it’s a big decision that she is faced with. He advised her not to let anybody get in her ear.
1:00-2:00 AM: Vanessa told Austin, Liz and Steve that she is heavily leaning towards targeting Meg this week. She said that it was her plan before the week started to get either James or Meg out. Vanessa felt that Meg is definitely gunning for her and there is nothing that she can do to change that at this point. She also said that she can tell that she is the target for James. Austin asked what she is thinking about the pawn situation. Vanessa said that it is very tough. Austin mentioned that he had a good talk with John and he told her that if he trusts Austin and the twins to vote to keep him if he ends up on the block. Vanessa explained that she does not want to use John as the pawn, because he would then have an easy excuse to come after her. She mentioned that keeping John in the game benefits Steve, so she may ask him to be the pawn. Vanessa also pointed out that keeping three people off of the block every time is a lot to ask, in reference to Austin and the twins. Vanessa then spoke to Austin alone and told him that she does not want to give John another reason to target her when she can use an ally as a pawn since they have the votes. Vanessa asked if the girls were mad that she suggested that Julia be the pawn. Austin said yeah and that Julia is weirded out by it. Vanessa said that Julia is not winning HoHs and she has got to do something.
Vanessa told Austin that he is only going to be able to protect himself and both twins for so long. She said that he can protect himself and Liz but asking to protect three is too much. She suggested that Austin start making deals like that. Austin said that he made need to begin making deals for himself. Vanessa said that a deal with John could be a good idea. Austin was concerned about James and John aligning. Vanessa said that John told her that he is on board with targeting James and that he is only hanging out with James because they are have-nots. Austin then brought up that John is telling James and Meg that he has a deal with her. Vanessa said that that’s even better then, since John believes that the deal during the HoH competition was accepted and therefore she cannot nominate him. Vanessa said that she and Austin need to make a deal with John, telling him that he will not be the pawn if he keeps the two of them off of the block next week. Vanessa eventually said that Steve would be the best option for the pawn, as long as Austin and the twins give their word that they will not vote him out. Meanwhile, downstairs, Julia told Liz that nobody wants to be the pawn next to Meg. She said that everyone goes home next to Meg. Julia said that she would vote Meg out if that is what Vanessa wants. The twins then spoke to Steve. They agreed that they all need to look out for each other. Steve assured Julia that he would not vote her out if she is nominated. Julia said that they will all have to be pawns and Steve did it last week, so she will do it if she has to.
2:00-3:00 AM: Steve went outside and spoke to the live feeders. He said that as much as he would like to split up Austin, Liz and Julia this week, he cannot. He said that sending Julia out does not accomplish much. He said that Liz is the one that he would want to send out and it does not make sense to evict Julia and leave the two stronger competitors, Austin and Liz in the house and coming after him. Steve also feared that a four person alliance of Austin, Liz, James and Meg would form if Julia were to leave. Steve said that his plan is to get rid of Meg this week, win HoH next week and nominate Austin and Liz together. Steve said that James is the only person that will want Vanessa out this week. Steve said that Vanessa will not be touching the block if he wins HoH. Austin told Liz that Vanessa is going to nominate Steve. Liz said that she thinks that Julia should be the pawn. She felt bad that Steve was the pawn last week and he will think that he is at the bottom of the alliance. Austin told Liz to tell that to Vanessa, cause it would be perfect since it’s a lot easier to explain to James that they are not keeping Meg if Julia is nominated than if Steve is. Austin then ran up to the HoH room and told Vanessa that the twins are fine with Julia being the pawn. He explained why it would work out better for them with James. Liz said that nobody wants to be the pawn but Julia is understanding and knows that they have the votes. She said that Steve had to be the pawn last week as well. Vanessa said that she wants to talk to Julia first but she is glad that everyone is being understanding. If Julia is on board with it, Vanessa said that she will then nominate her as the pawn.
