BB17 Day 87 - John wins the Power of Veto
September 12, 2015
4:00-5:00 PM: Feeds returned after being down for 4.5 hours due to the veto competition. John won the Power of Veto. Liz told Austin that she is worried that Vanessa will try to split them up now that she cannot split up John and Steve. Austin said that she still can split them up by sending Steve home. Liz said that Vanessa likes Steve more and probably will not want to do that. Austin said that John and Steve do not have the same relationship with Vanessa that they do, and Vanessa would also be betraying the two of them and pissing off whichever one of them stays. Austin said that Steve is still the biggest threat to win the Final 4 PoV, so Vanessa will still want him out. Austin mentioned that John said that he doesn’t even want to work with Steve anymore, so it might not even come down to Vanessa’s vote. Austin said that John will be ready to flip things, since he knows that he was Vanessa’s target. Austin said that that’s why Vanessa is so upset. Liz said that she was so close to winning. Austin said that John came out of nowhere to win it. Austin said that Steve was too close, so John could not throw it. Austin also figured that John cannot win the game, so he told Liz that if they can get Steve out it will be Vanessa or either of the two of them winning the game. Liz said that she would love to work with John but she cannot trust him. Liz said that she would not doing anything to betray Vanessa. Austin told her to keep reiterating that to Vanessa.
7:00-8:00 PM: Vanessa spent a significant amount of time running through scenarios with M&M’s and Skittles. She tried to determine who would make the Final 3 based on every possible combination of HoH and PoV winner next week. She eventually decided to talk game. She told Steve that she knows that he is freaking out. Steve said that he is not. Vanessa said that it’s a bad situation since he will have to stay on the block. Vanessa told Steve that if anything that they talk about gets out, it will be bad for him. Vanessa asked Steve if he knows anything about a deal between John, Austin and Liz that was made prior to the veto competition. Steve said no. Vanessa let him know that John told Austin and Liz that he would throw the veto to them if they agreed to vote Steve out. Vanessa said that John told Austin that he was going to throw it until he saw how well Steve was doing. Steve figured that John was just trying to cover himself in case he did not win the PoV. Steve did not think that he would actually throw the PoV to them when he was on the block and he knew that he was the target. Vanessa asked who Steve would vote for at the end between Austin and Liz. Steve said that he is leaning towards Liz, because she overcame the twin twist. Vanessa was surprised by that answer. Steve then said that Austin avoided being on the block until Final 6, which is big, but he is still leaning towards Liz. He said that she has the better social game. Vanessa said that Austin is clearly the better strategist of the two, so she is surprised that he would vote for Liz.
After thinking about it, Steve told Vanessa that she is right and that Austin was the head of that alliance and he would probably vote for him. Vanessa asked who would win at the end between Austin and John. Steve counted out sure votes for Austin as himself, James, Meg, Julia and Liz. Vanessa asked who Steve would keep, her or John, if Liz wins HoH and he wins PoV. Steve said that he would take Vanessa because he can beat her at the end. Steve said that he feels strange saying that. Vanessa said that it’s okay, because she does not disagree with him. Vanessa asked if Steve would swear on something important that he would take her to the Final 3 over John. He swore on his mother that he would. Vanessa said that she would take Steve to the Final 2 if he did that, like she has said all along. Vanessa asked who John would save between the two of them. Steve said that he would be the obvious choice but the deal that John made with Austin and Liz makes him think otherwise. He also said that John may feel that taking Vanessa is best because he can beat her. Vanessa asked Steve who he would take to the Final 3. He said that he would cut either Austin or Liz. Steve figured that John would also cut Austin and Liz. Vanessa told Steve that he is not going this week and she will vote the way that she said that she would. Vanessa asked Steve who he would nominate, Austin or Liz. Steve asked if he can get back to her on that. Vanessa said no, since he would then come back with a more calculated answer that benefits his game. They ran through the jury votes that Vanessa would have against each Austin and Liz. Steve brought up that Austin was not nominated until the Final 6, so he is doing something right.
8:00-9:00 PM: Steve and Vanessa continued to talk things over. Vanessa said that the worst part about this all is that she gave Austin and Liz hope that they could stay in the game together and now she has to take that hope away. Vanessa mentioned that it could end up being a blessing in disguise, however. She pointed out that Steve will be even more likely to take her to the end now, since will be upsetting another two jurors. They discussed who they could beat more easily between Austin and Liz. Vanessa said that Liz is more likely to win Part 3. Vanessa said that Austin would be more likely to beat Steve in Part 2, while neither is likely to beat her in Part 1. Steve agreed that it would be easier for him to beat Liz in Part 2. After breaking up their talk. Vanessa told Steve that John cannot think that Steve is safe right now. Her concern was that John may want to vote with Austin and Liz, if he was willing to make a deal to throw the PoV to them in order to get their votes. She said that he could have just won the veto himself and secure his safety. Steve figured that John was just trying to secure himself either way and would not have actually thrown the competition.
9:00-10:00 PM: Vanessa told Liz that she wants to do things fairly. She pointed out that Liz was on the block on eviction night last week, while Austin has never had to do that. Vanessa asked if she thinks that it’s fair that Austin goes on the block. Liz said yes. Liz said that Austin should understand, since he has never been nominated on eviction night. Liz mentioned that Steve is really good at everything, is going to start winning a lot and he is her target. Liz told Vanessa that they need to stick together because they are the last two girls. Vanessa agreed. Liz pointed out that it is concerning that Austin and John have been getting close lately. Liz said that John loves Austin and is obsessed with him. Vanessa said that that’s not good for Liz, since John would then want Liz out next. Vanessa asked if she and Austin ended up making the deal with John before the veto competition. Liz said to ask Austin, because she did not hear back from John. She said that it seemed as though John would try to win but say that he threw it if he lost. Vanessa asked Liz if she trusts Austin totally. Liz said that she wants to. Vanessa said that she knows the feeling. Liz mentioned that she loves Austin to death but she has to worry about herself. Liz explained that Austin made her realize that she has to have her own back like he has his own, cause she is doing this for Julia. Vanessa said that her gut is telling her to keep Liz off of the block. Vanessa added that she has doubted Austin in the past but has not doubted Liz. They discussed that it is best to have another girl in the house. Liz said that the girls in jury would probably vote for Austin over her, since girls can be jealous and catty.
Vanessa spoke to Austin. She told him that her only thought is that Liz was just on the block last week. Austin said that he will go up on the block if that is what Vanessa wants. He told her that this is him trusting her 100%. Vanessa said that Austin may even be able to convince John to vote for him. Austin said that he might be able to, since John has been saying that it’s not 100% certain that Steve has his vote. Austin said that he trusts Liz and Vanessa to vote for him, so the only concern he has is that some type of twist may be thrown into play. Vanessa asked if they made a deal with John before the competition. He said that John was still claiming that he was going to throw the veto if that’s what he needed to do in order to get them to vote for him and trust him. Austin said that John has been making it seem as though he does not want to be “Rock Stars” anymore. Austin and Vanessa agreed that they should just tell John the name of their alliance, since he keeps asking them all. They then headed outside with Steve to reveal the “Scamper Squad” name.
Vanessa then pulled John upstairs to talk. She told him that John winning PoV actually works out better for her. She said that he now has won four PoVs and it makes it less risky for her to be sitting next to him with her four HoHs. Vanessa said that she is assuming that he is wanting to keep Steve but asked if he is not. John said that he could but questioned what Vanessa wants. Vanessa said that Steve has never been disloyal to John or gone against him. Vanessa explained that John would beat Steve at the end, possibly even by a clean sweep. She told John that Austin and the twins are upset with Steve after last week. She asked John who has a better shot at winning, Austin or Liz. John said Austin. Vanessa told John that she is ready to make a decision with him together. She said that they will need each other moving forward and she would love to work with him. John said that it would suck to be the only one playing in HoH next week if they get rid of Steve. Vanessa asked who he could beat more easily at the end, Liz or Steve. John said that he thought Liz until she told him the other information. Vanessa told John that he is the one person that people like as much as they like Steve. Vanessa wondered who Steve would take to the Final 3. John said that he is pretty loyal and he would likely take the two of them. Vanessa said that Steve doesn’t have any loyalty to Liz, though he may to Austin. She thought that it makes more sense to take Austin out. She also said that Austin and Liz made that decision easy for her, since they were okay with Austin going on the block. Vanessa said that they could get Steve to swear on something that he will take them to the Final 3.
10:00-11:00 PM: Vanessa asked John how he would feel about voting Steve out. John said that he will do what he has got to do. Vanessa then brought up that they are locked in to Final 3 if they keep Steve, unless he wins HoH and Liz wins PoV. Vanessa shook John’s hand and told him that she wants to make the Final 3 with him. Vanessa asked who John thinks that Steve would take to the end. John said that Steve would take him based on loyalty, unless Steve and Vanessa have something, but would take Vanessa if he goes with who he can beat. Vanessa brought up that they get to the Final 3 with Steve more often but they win less often than with Austin or Liz. Vanessa questioned if they are the dumbest people if they don’t break up Austin and Liz. She said that she begun second guessing that John and Steve were as strong of a couple as Austin and Liz are. Vanessa asked who John would get rid of next week if it was between her and Steve. John said Steve, since he is more liked by the jurors. John said that assumed that Steve was leaving if he won PoV, so he was going to vote him out. Vanessa said that she is open minded. Vanessa told John that she will be nominating Austin and then they can reach a decision together later. John said that for now he is leaning towards evicting Steve.
11:00-12:00 AM: Liz told Austin that Vanessa has a way with words and could very well sway the jury if she makes it to the end. Liz said that Vanessa spoke very well during interviews yesterday, presumably while they were at the concert. Austin felt that they should talk to Vanessa eventually and solidify the deal that they made with her, making sure that she will keep him. Austin didn’t think that Vanessa would go against him, saying that he would be shocked if she did. Austin felt that everything worked out well this week, since Steve would want to break them up but John would vote Vanessa out over them.
12:00-1:00 AM: Austin asked John how his talk with Vanessa went. John said that it sounded like Austin volunteered to go up, so Vanessa is nominating him and then she wants him to decide who should go. John told Austin and Liz that Vanessa was running through so many scenarios that he could not keep up. John said that Vanessa is under the impression that is himself and her against Austin and Liz, since no one would be crazy enough to go to the Final 3 with a couple. John said that he is. Austin said that he is worried about having a 1-1 vote, leaving it up to Vanessa to decide. John said that he will do what he has to at this point. He mentioned that the Final 2 deal with Steve seems to have been screwing with him. John explained that Vanessa only found out about it because he was disloyal to it from the beginning and told Clay and Shelli about it. John clarified that Steve approached him about the deal, not the other way around. John said that he was loyal to Becky. Austin asked John if he will tell Steve how he is voting beforehand. John said that he is sick of everyone playing nice. Austin told John to let him know if he needs anything from him, because this is a big thing that he is doing for him.
