BB17 Day 88 - John uses the PoV on himself, Austin is nominated

September 13, 2015

8:00-9:00 AM: Vanessa asked Steve if he talked to John last night. Steve said that he didn’t talk game with him. Vanessa advised Steve to work on his relationship with John. Vanessa said that he needs John's vote locked in. She explained that John is either really doing a good job of convincing her that “Rock Stars” isn’t a thing or he doesn’t know which way he is going to vote. Steve said that’s good to know. Vanessa told Steve that John asked if they had a deal, so John cannot know about that or else he will vote Steve out. Steve understood. Vanessa said that she had to act like she doesn’t care who leaves but she has to get John to come around to keeping Steve. Vanessa figured that John thought that Steve was going to go, so he may have been trying to play ball and not be the odd man out. However, she was not sure if he was serious or not. Vanessa said that John needs to feel very comfortable that Steve is going to take him. After Vanessa went inside, Steve said “good for you, Johnny” to himself.

10:00-11:00 AM: Austin headed up to the HoH room to ask if there is anything new with regards to Steve’s scampering. Vanessa said no and that Steve is just nervous about what is going to happen. She said that Steve asked what she is going to do but she did not tell him. Austin said that John told him that he has no problem with voting Steve out. Vanessa said that she has to be careful with how she acts about it, since she cannot act eager to keep Austin. Vanessa told Austin that she prefers that John votes with Liz, since she does not want to get the blood on her hands by evicting Steve. Austin said that John is claiming that his Final 2 with Steve is screwing him in the game, so he is done with it. Even at that, they both agreed that it is weird that John would evict Steve. Austin said that if John wins HoH, he would have to throw the veto and let Vanessa go up against Liz. Vanessa said that their best case scenario is that Austin wins HoH. Vanessa asked if she has Austin’s word that he would not scumbag her if they were in the Final 3 with John. Austin said that he absolutely would not do it. Vanessa said that she would not either. Austin assured Vanessa that they would still be trying to target John next week, but worst case scenario is they end up having a 2 on 1 advantage against him in the Final 3.

Austin said that he does not think that John would beat anyone at the end, which is why Vanessa said that she is concerned that someone would take him. Vanessa pointed out that John may be able to beat her. Austin thought that she would be alright, since she would have the votes from him and the twins, and then they would work on Meg and James for her. Vanessa said that she actually thinks that John would beat Steve. They both agreed that they are likely to vote for John to win over Steve at this point. Vanessa said that John’s strategy was better, since Steve has not done anything. She also said that John won more competitions when he needed to and he has had his back against the wall. Austin then headed outside to talk to John. He told John that he feels good about their conversations and he trusts John. John said that this is what makes sense for him. Austin mentioned that he doesn’t want it to come down to a 1-1 vote with Vanessa breaking the tie, because she may not vote for him even though she says that she will. Austin said that it’s easy for her to say that she will now when she thinks that John may vote that way too. Austin told John to let him know if he needs anything from him in exchange for this vote. John said that he would like to increase his odds of winning HoH and will think about it. John felt that his worst case scenario is ending up on the block next to Vanessa, because she would have a lot to say about why he should go. Austin said that his worst case is being nominated next to Liz, though John assured him that he would do what Austin cannot.

11:00-12:00 PM: Steve went up to the HoH room to talk to Vanessa. He told her that he is concerned that if he comes off as nervous in his talks with John, that will give John reason not to keep him. Steve said that that argument that he has come up with is that there is tension between John and Vanessa after this week, yet they would be forced to work together if he goes. Vanessa said that it’s logical that that would have to happen, so it’s not a very compelling argument. Vanessa begun telling Steve some potential arguments, such as that it’s 50/50 if Austin and Liz would take John over Vanessa, but people would take John over Steve because he is the perceived weaker member of the duo. Vanessa said that John doesn’t know that it is untrue because he doesn’t know about their deal, but he needs to think that. Vanessa also said that John always makes the Final 3 with Steve there. Steve asked if Vanessa really thinks so. Vanessa said no and that is what he has to convince John of. Vanessa said that Steve is frustrating her and she questioned why she is playing his game for him right now. Shortly thereafter, feeds went down for the veto ceremony.

12:00-1:00 PM: At the veto ceremony, John used the Power of Veto on himself. Vanessa nominated Austin as the replacement nominee. Steve told John that it comes down to Vanessa now. He said that he needs to figure out what he should do. John told Steve that he can bounce some ideas off of him if he comes up with anything. John headed outside to work out with Austin. Austin told John that Steve seemed surprised that he was the one to go up on the block over Liz. John said that he knows how it feels being in the position that Steve is in, but that would have been him had Steve won the veto and he likely would have gone. Austin told John that he would be happy with him as HoH, since Liz and Vanessa would likely both choose to take him if they won the PoV. Austin said that they would likely both be safe, so he is fine with giving John HoH if it comes down to the two of them. John said that he likes that idea. Austin said that he is fine with making that deal if it is what John wants in exchange for his vote. John said that’s awesome. Austin pointed out that Steve will not throw HoH. John brought up that he doesn’t know if he can beat Steve in the end. Austin said that he is unsure if anyone can. Inside, Vanessa spoke to Liz and told her that they are now guaranteed Final 4 and it will be 50% females there. Vanessa said that one of them is now for sure in the Final 3 and it will likely even be both of them. Liz told Vanessa that Steve is freaking out. Vanessa said that she will win the PoV with Steve out of the house, so she needs Austin or Liz to win HoH. Vanessa said that the three of them will be safe if that happens. She eventually mentioned that John winning PoV could mess up their plans as well, though he would likely take her. Liz said that Steve is someone that will for sure win the intellectual competitions if he stays around, while Austin has no shot. Vanessa wasn’t sure that Austin had no shot, but she said that Austin would take her so it’s fine if he wins anyway. Liz mentioned that Austin seems to be a bit nervous but he is handling it well. Vanessa said that he does not have to be nervous. Vanessa told Liz that she believes that John will vote to evict Steve, which would allow her to not have to get the blood on her hands by doing it herself.

3:00-4:00 PM: John told Steve that he has been telling Vanessa that he will turn on him this week. Steve asked if John said that he would vote him out. John said yeah. John told Steve that he needs to make Vanessa tell him to keep him. Steve asked if Vanessa is buying that John would turn on him. John said that he thinks so. Steve said that it’s brilliant work on John’s part if so. John explained that he argued that their Final 2 is what is hurting him in this game. He said that he needs Vanessa to approach him about keeping Steve and not the other way around, otherwise she will assume that they are still tight. Steve warned John that Austin and Liz will promise him everything in order to get his vote, like they did to him last week when he was HoH. John said that he knows that. Steve asked if what they promised is even believable. John said yeah. Steve said that it would not make sense for John to keep Austin around, since he is then forcing himself to work with Vanessa, who still has a relationship with Austin. John admitted to telling Austin and Liz that he would throw the PoV to them to see if they would keep him over Steve. John said that he believes that they would have went through with it and evicted Steve. He also said that he would have thrown the veto comp if it came down to him and Austin or Liz. John again told Steve to get Vanessa to approach him about voting for him, then he will do it. After John left, Steve spoke to himself in the backyard. He said that he is so done with this game. He mentioned that he doesn’t even care if he leaves. He then said that Liz winning HoH might be the best case scenario, since the only way that he would leave is by John or Vanessa voting him out. Steve said that it would be a huge point with the jury if he was the one to take Vanessa out. Even though he swore on his mother that he would keep Vanessa over John, Steve said that breaking that promise is the price that he is willing to pay to win $500,000. Inside, Austin asked John what Steve was talking to him about. John said that Steve has no idea what to do and he told him to convince Vanessa that it is best for him to stay. Austin asked if Steve has faith in John voting for him. John said yeah but it’s not happening.

5:00-6:00 PM: John and Vanessa discussed the vote. John said that if Steve stays, one of them will probably win the PoV and then they can get rid of Liz. If they got rid of Steve, John said that they could take out Austin if they win the PoV. Vanessa said that Austin is the type of player that they could convince to throw the veto competition as long as Liz does not have HoH. Vanessa said that Austin would be on board because Austin is better off not having Liz in the Final 3. She said that he is a lock to win if Liz goes to the jury. John said that he feels like Vanessa likes keeping Austin better. Vanessa said no. She said that mathematically she thinks that they should keep Steve, though it is very close. Vanessa told John that she is fine leaving it up to him and not even knowing how he will vote. She said that she would break the tie in Steve’s favour if John decides to vote for him and make it a tie. Vanessa said that she would then have to salvage Liz and explain that it was actually better for her game to have Austin go, which it is. John said that both Austin and Steve think that he is keeping them. Vanessa said the same goes for her. Austin then came outside and broke the talk up.

6:00-7:00 PM: John told Austin that Vanessa is 50/50 on what she wants to do, so he is going over it with her but it doesn’t matter. Austin thanked John, though he said that Vanessa being 50/50 makes him nervous. John said that Vanessa being a bit scared of Steve is working in his favour. Steve pulled Liz aside. He told her that he feels that it would be rude not to ask her about her vote, though it is also rude to ask her to vote against Austin. He said that he would appreciate her vote even though he does not expect it. Liz thanked him for asking but said that it is probably not going to happen. Steve then headed upstairs to talk to Vanessa. She told him that she doesn’t know if John is trying to feel her out or if he doesn’t know what he wants to do. She assumed that John wants to keep Steve but is afraid to say it to her. Either way, Vanessa told Steve that she will be able to get the result that she needs. She said that she needs to finish her talk with John.

8:00-9:00 PM: Austin told Vanessa that John wants him to throw HoH to him in exchange for his vote. Austin said that he will obviously not do it. Austin planned to tell John that he would throw HoH but he wont actually follow through on it. Vanessa said that she cannot ask John to vote for Austin, since he would then tell Steve. Austin said that John wants to blindside Steve and he is saying that his vote is locked in. Vanessa said that John is playing smart, since he knows that she is going to keep Austin and sees that his vote is meaningless, so he is trying to get something out of it. Vanessa said that John has been feeling her out and he would vote to keep Steve if she would. Vanessa asked Austin not to promise anything to John. Austin said that he will go back on it even if he does.

10:00-11:00 PM: Vanessa told John that she is ready to do something crazy. She said that she wants to make a big move and not do something predictable. She explained that she wants to leave her mark on Big Brother history and blindside someone. Vanessa told John that they need to be able to tell the jury that they took down a big target and Steve is not it. John said that Steve is not a big target for them. Vanessa said that it would be stupid to take Austin, even though she is friends with him. Vanessa pointed out that there would be no way to get around getting to the Final 3 with a couple 50% of the time, meaning that they would have to win out. With Steve, Vanessa said that they could at least make arguments to each other. John said that someone put it in Vanessa’s head that he and Steve are a showmance. Vanessa said that Austin started saying things last week about the two of them always taking each other if they make it to the Final 3. John said that he wants to win, so they are on the same page. Vanessa said that they cannot know that it’s coming. She said that she will swear on something big that they are evicting Austin. John agreed. Vanessa clarified that neither Steve nor Austin can know. Vanessa said that Liz will be really mad at her but she will explain that she kept her safe and kept her off of the block. Vanessa said that this is a big move and is something worthy of winning the game for. John agreed that Austin needs to be taken out. Vanessa told John that Steve is not a big threat, as evidence by how he is breaking down. They agreed that Liz and Steve will have a hard time winning HoH after a blindside like this. Vanessa said that it will be a big bomb dropped on the Big Brother house.

12:00-1:00 AM: Steve spoke to himself in the backyard. He said that he can beat John, since he had no HoH wins. He pointed out that every juror except for Meg won an HoH. Steve said that the two things that sold him on taking John is that John did not make any big moves and he was never HoH. Steve mentioned that he is a big fan of the strategy of winning the Final 6, Final 4 and Final 3 HoH comps and he did it. Steve then admitted that he is talking very elaborately about scenarios that have not even happened. He said that he came there to win and he will do whatever he has to do to win the game, such as swearing on his mother and going back on it. Steve said that it has no affect on her and it wont impact her in a negative way. Steve explained that honesty, integrity and loyalty play no role in his game, even though he is those things in his everyday life. Steve discussed going back on his word to Vanessa that he would take her over John. Steve said that it’s upsetting because Vanessa would have deserved to win a lot more than John. Steve said that he made two huge moves that changed up the game, one being the first person to go after Austin and the twins. Secondly, he said that the biggest player in the game and the one that had the biggest impact on the game is Vanessa, and he was the one who got rid of her. Steve said that he had a Final 2 with Vanessa and gave her a taste of her own medicine. Steve said that he has had a Final 2 deal with Johnny Mac since the beginning of this game and he has to stay loyal. Steve said Liz, get to steppin’ and said that he is sorry but he has to evict her. Steve said “I think I just won this game”, but he told himself that he cannot get cocky since John still might not take him and a lot can happen.
