Big Brother 18 Day 53 - Paulie wins the Power of Veto
August 6, 2016
8:00-9:00 AM: The have-not reveal took place. As punishment for being the first three to drop out of the HoH competition, Bridgette, Corey and James are the have-nots for the week. In addition to slop, the have-nots can enjoy hash browns and corned beef hash.
9:00-10:00 AM: Players were picked for the veto competition. Victor, Michelle, Zakiyah, James, Nicole and Paulie will be competing. Paul is hosting the competition. Michelle headed to the safari room to talk to the live feeders. She said she still doesn’t get why Victor wants her to go, so she hopes there is a backdoor plan in place. Michelle said she hates being up against the one person that she trusts in the house. Michelle revealed that she definitely plans to blow things up if she doesn’t win the veto. Michelle listed off her downfalls in the game as letting her emotions get to her, being blunt and saying what’s on her mind, and not being in a showmance. Michelle said sorry she didn’t want to embarrass herself on national television. She added that she doesn’t like any of the guys in the house. Michelle brought up hating when people roll over and die but she said she doesn’t think there is much you can do to sway people at this point. Michelle said she thinks this season will be horrible to watch since it’s one of the only season where showmances have been allowed to get so far. Michelle said the only duo that has been split up is Bridgette and Frank. Michelle said people are scared and a bunch of weaklings. Michelle guaranteed that she would be messing things up if she manages to stay and win HoH. Elsewhere, James told Natalie he is happy that he got chosen to play. He said he plans to throw the veto competition. Natalie said she knows since Michelle will ask James to play for her, James will say yeah and then he will throw it. James said he’s taking $5,000 or a trip if it’s a luxury competition.
11:00-12:00 PM: James told Natalie that he is doing his best to keep her off of the radar. However, he said there will come up a point where somebody wants to target one of them and there will be nothing that he can do about it. James said he will let Natalie know what’s going to happen. James said the others know that he is going to try to save her. Natalie said she doesn’t want James to ruin his game. James said if anything, Natalie has helped his game a lot when it comes to Bridgette. James discussed that he tries to tread lightly with Natalie in order to give her her space. Natalie said she likes that because she needs her space and it is not good for their games to always be hanging out together. James and Natalie agreed that Michelle is someone who can dish it but cannot take it.
7:00-8:00 PM: Feeds returned after over seven hours of being down for the veto competition. It was the hide and seek veto competition that James won last season and Dani won in Big Brother 8. Paulie won the Power of Veto. James told Paul that Zakiyah will be expecting Paulie to use the veto on him. Paul said they will have to take Zakiyah out if Paulie doesn’t, seeing as they would be screwing Paulie over by keeping her in after that. James headed upstairs to talk to Victor. Victor said it’s good that Paulie won so that they can keep the nominations the same and get Zakiyah out. James said that might be an issue since Paulie is thinking about keeping Zakiyah. Victor said he doesn’t want to have to choose a replacement nominee. James mentioned that Paulie is down for doing whatever is best for the guys. James said Paulie thinks that Michelle is a bigger emotional threat and she is more likely to come after someone for an emotional reason, whereas he can better control Zakiyah.
8:00-9:00 PM: Paulie told Nicole and Paul that he thinks he will keep the nominations the same. Paulie then spoke to Victor in the storage room, telling him that this is going to be awkward. Victor said James mentioned that Paulie wants to keep Zakiyah. Paulie said he has thought about it and they have been discussing that option. Victor said it’s all the same to him. Paulie agreed and suggested that they meet up with Corey, James and Paul later to make a decision. Paulie told Victor he knows for a fact that Zakiyah will be loyal if she does get saved, though he wants to keep the nominations the same. Paulie then went to Corey and Nicole. He told Nicole that she is the only girl he likes and wants to keep around. Paulie said Zakiyah is going to hate him once he doesn’t use the veto on her, so he needs Nicole to get closer to her in the meantime. Paulie said he wants Zakiyah out but not until after next week when Bridgette goes. Paulie then went to Corey and James, telling them that he is not using the veto and he needs their help with Zakiyah. He said it’s best for their games to keep Zakiyah even though both Paul and Victor want Michelle to stay. Paul and Paulie spoke in the HoH room. Paul said everyone is pissed at James for going overboard during the veto competition. Paul said James is scared now. Paul told Paulie that it is in his best interest for Zakiyah to go since she will be upset at him for not using the veto on her. Paul said they can reel in Michelle at that point. He explained that Michelle and James are after each other as are James and Victor. Paulie said Corey, Nicole and James want Michelle out, so he feels that he is caught in the middle. Paul asked why they are getting James’ target out for him. He said that getting rid of Michelle gives James one less person to target and means there is one less person targeting him. Paul promised that getting Zakiyah out is the best move for the PP alliance. Paulie remained non-commital, saying that they can decide later with their five person group.
9:00-10:00 PM: Paulie told Paul that they can get either Michelle or Zakiyah out this week, followed by Bridgette next, week, then they can either get whoever remains out of Michelle and Zakiyah out or go after James or Victor. Paul said he would prefer to use Victor to help them get James out before they take him out. Paulie threw Nicole’s name out there as another person that they can target. He said that they need to separate Corey and Nicole because Corey tells Nicole everything. Paulie said it will become obvious what they are doing in another week or two once two or three more girls are out of the house. Out in the hot tub, Michelle told Natalie she would not be surprised if Paulie doesn’t use the veto. Michelle said she has accepted that there is not much she can do at this point. She said she has already pictured her picture going grey and she has thought about how she will answer Julie’s questions. Michelle said she would like for Paulie to use the veto on Zakiyah so that she doesn’t have to campaign against her best friend, but she doesn’t want Natalie to go up next to her.
10:00-11:00 PM: Michelle told Natalie that she thinks Natalie will go far. Michelle said she would put money on it that Natalie will finish in either second or third place. Natalie encouraged Michelle not to give up on her own game. She pointed out that she has been on the block but managed to survive. Natalie asked Michelle if she thinks that James would use the veto on her if she is on the block. Michelle said it would depend on what the house wants. However, she said she knows that James would not vote against Natalie. Michelle brought up that she loves Bridgette now. She explained that she was previously jealous of how tight Bridgette and Frank were. Michelle said she thinks the only votes she could get would be from James, Natalie, Bridgette and Paul.
11:00-12:00 AM: Paulie told Bridgette that he probably should have used a hiding spot that was more out in the open so that he didn’t have a chance at winning today’s veto competition. Paulie let Bridgette know that Paul and Victor are pushing for Zakiyah to go but everyone else wants Michelle to go. Paulie advised Bridgette to remain friendly with the nominees because they will likely go after Victor and Natalie if she does that. Bridgette didn’t think that they would go after Natalie. Paulie said there is a good chance that someone who would keep Bridgette safe will win HoH next week. Paulie said he has been leaning towards getting Michelle out but the fact that Zakiyah lied to him has made him wonder why he wants to keep her too. He said Zakiyah is going to lose it when he doesn’t use the veto. Bridgette asked if Paulie is definitely not using it. Paulie told her that he is not using it. Paulie revealed that the only person who he trusts 100% is Corey. He said he trusts Paul enough but thinks that Paul might exaggerate things when he wants something. Bridgette said Michelle would think about how she can shake up the house the most if she wins HoH. Paulie agreed. They talked about how that may mean that the two of them end up on the block if she wins HoH. As for James, Bridgette said she is trying hard to trust him but it is tough to do. Paulie said he wouldn’t if he were Bridgette. She told him that Natalie wants her to trust James.
12:00-1:00 AM: Corey spoke to Paulie about this week’s vote. He said Michelle is a better game player than Zakiyah. He wondered if they should tell Paul about a piece of information he got. He told Paulie that Michelle is the one who made up the “Advancemen” because the Fatal Five was real and she wanted to deflect attention off of the girls. Paulie asked how Corey knows that. Corey said Nicole told him about it. Paulie said that means Nicole was in the alliance too. Corey then downplayed the how serious the alliance was. Their talk was then broken up by some other houseguests. Michelle headed to the safari room to talk to the live feeders. Michelle said she will definitely campaign hard after the veto ceremony, though she will not throw Zakiyah under the bus. Michelle said this game is her dream and she will not go without a fight. Michelle thinks that playing strategically would have been nominating someone who beats Victor time after time, though he nominated her and says that he is playing strategically. Michelle said she will blow people’s games up if she knows that she is for sure leaving. Michelle said she has a feeling that Paulie is going to walk away with the $500,000, but she is going to make sure that does not happen. If she is leaving, Michelle said that she will blow Paulie’s game up. She thinks that Paulie is playing Derrick’s game but he is winning competitions. Michelle mentioned she thought that she had a lot of friends in the house but she doesn’t think so now, which is why she is going to blow their games up. Michelle said she will blow up the games of Paulie, Nicole and James. Michelle looked back on past moves and said she should have used the veto on Frank. She also said that having Tiffany in the house would have even been better.
1:00-2:00 AM: Zakiyah asked Paulie if he has changed his mind. Paulie asked about what. He said Zakiyah knows who is going home this week. Zakiyah asked about the replacement nominee situation. Paulie said Michelle is going home even if he doesn’t use the veto. Zakiyah asked if he is not going to use it. Paulie said it’s an option in his head because he feels that she is not in danger. Zakiyah said she understands if he wants to keep it the same. Paulie said she should trust that he wouldn’t leave her up there unless he knew 100% that she wasn’t going home. Paulie said James can eliminate two votes, so he will get him to eliminate the votes of people he suspects would vote Zakiyah out. Zakiyah asked if he wants her to do the same thing if it’s ever the other way around, leaving him on the block. Paulie said not if he is in danger. Paulie told Zakiyah that Paul and Victor are getting close to Bridgette and now trying to get close to Michelle, so he wants to see what happens. Paulie said he will pull Zakiyah down if he gets a sense tomorrow that people are trying to screw him over. Zakiyah said she is a little nervous. Paulie said she could panic if on the block if he wasn’t the one in control of the situation.
3:00-4:00 AM: Paulie told James he broke the news to Zakiyah that he is seriously considering not using the veto. Paulie said Zakiyah handled it pretty well. Paulie said Zakiyah asked who he is worried about going up. James said him, but Paulie said he wants to keep James, Corey and himself a secret so he wouldn’t say James’ name. James told Paulie that Natalie swears up and down there is a guys alliance. Paulie said he wonders who is putting that in her head. James backtracked and said she is not swearing up and down but she keeps asking about it. Paulie figured that Bridgette put it in her head. Paulie said he believes that Paul and Victor have an ulterior motive when it comes to keeping Michelle. James said he can cancel Paul’s vote. Paulie told him to cancel his as well. Paulie pointed out that they could get Victor out before Bridgette if they want to lower the suspicion of a guys alliance. Corey joined them and said Paul is the only one who would vote Zakiyah out. James said he is not going to let Paul vote this week. Paulie said Paul wants James to cancel his own vote. James said he asked about that but he is not allowed to. James asked if Paul and Victor would try to flip on them. Both Corey and Paulie said no. Corey said they might after this week. James said that’s what he is saying since he doesn’t understand why they are trying to keep Michelle. Paulie said he wants the suspicious girls out so that they can chill as the boys. James said they should not sleep on Victor. Corey agreed. Paulie said Victor is robotic and loyal but he needs orders. James said they can’t ignore that Paul and Victor may have something going on. Corey said Paul would be game to get Victor out next week but it doesn’t mean that it can’t change. James brought up that Bridgette, Michelle, Paul and Victor could be building a little squad. Corey said Michelle questioned why Victor is getting to close to Bridgette, calling it shady. Corey suggested that they could get Victor on board by telling him that. James and Paulie agreed that they would be scared with Michelle in power, though they kind of know what they would get with Zakiyah. Paulie said the only two people he doesn’t want to see as HoH are Bridgette and Michelle. He said Michelle can go this week and then Bridgette can go next. They talked about the double eviction. Paulie said Zakiyah is trained and knows to put up Bridgette and Victor, while Michelle is not trained. James figured Paul and Victor want Michelle in the game to win the double eviction in order to keep the two of them safe. Before heading to bed, Paulie and Zakiyah talked things over. Zakiyah admitted that she is worried. Paulie told her not to worry. He assured her that he has got her. Paulie said it’s a done deal that Michelle is going home. Zakiyah said she would hate for people to take her out because she is on Paulie’s team. Paulie again said that it’s a done deal, adding that it will be unanimous. Paulie said James, Corey, Nicole and himself are voting Michelle out, as is Natalie. Zakiyah said she wants to get Victor out of the house. Paulie said he will be open for the taking and that the only person she has to beat out for HoH is Bridgette, cause the others will then drop out.
