BBCAN5 - Mark Chrysler Exit Interview

March 17, 2017

You were evicted by a split vote of 7-6. Heading into the vote, did you think that you were staying or going?

Mark: At that time, I had no idea if I was staying or going. I didn’t even know who was planning on voting to keep me safe or to get me out of the house. I kind of had a rough idea on a few people that wanted to keep me around. At the same time, you know from watching the show. You know more than I do. It was a complete toss up. It was a crazy week.

Based on the feeds last night, it sounded as though there was some chaos and discussion of votes flipping in the hours leading up to the eviction. Was that the case?

Mark: Yeah, absolutely. At the beginning of the day, I got up and I felt fairly confident. I was talking to a lot of people. Before I knew it, I was quickly realizing that the entire house was voting against me. It was going to be a 13-0 sweep. Everyone just wanted to just kind of go with the house. I couldn’t really figure out who the house was, cause everyone said they wanted to keep me. I was pretty defeated. I was saying my goodbyes to everyone, and it was really tough. People were getting emotional. I was sitting with Gary and Ika comes in. This is 30 minutes before the elimination that Ika comes in and sat down and talked to Gary and I, and said “was Cass the one that said it was Ika and Gary trying to vote Mark out?”. A day ago, I had a feeling that it was Ika and Gary. I was kind of telling some of my close allies. It kind of went all the way around to them. I said yes. A complete lie. Gary immediately got up, got out the door, looked for Cass, and they started yelling. Everyone starts throwing each other under the bus, trying to figure out what’s the truth, and before I know it Dallas comes up to me and is like “Mark, you are staying”. Here I am thinking that I am done, then I get told that I am staying. Everyone tries to get together and tries to decide how the house is voting. This is what I wanted. I wanted everyone to show their colours and show everyone who they actually wanted to vote for. Before everyone could make a decision, we were called to sit down and start the eviction ceremony, which was perfect. In my speech, I said “I want you to base your vote on what you want and not what anybody or the house wants”. Leading up to it, nobody knew really who to vote for. I was going to be surprised either way. I was one vote off, I was so close. Now I’m sitting out here and it sucks.

Cassandra mentioned that you were spreading lies about her. Based on what you said, it seems as though you only threw her name out there once Ika had brought it up to you first. Is that correct?

Mark: Yeah, I just happened to say yes. I knew from the day before that, Ika and Cassandra, there was kind of a little crack in there and they were kind of butting heads. I unintentionally, or I guess intentionally, put a spike right through that crack and opened everything wide up. The entire house was flipping on each other. If I was to stay, I would have had to come up with something or be honest. Since no one really got the full answer since this was all happening right before the elimination ceremony, I’m not sure if they made up or if there is a huge divide in the house. These next couple of weeks are going to be really interesting.

Which houseguests did you connect with and feel that you would have been able to work with had you stayed in the game?

Mark: Kevin and I, we established a connection pretty quickly. We have a lot in common and we live in the same province. We became friends really fast. Both of our games kind of complimented each other. I really hope all of the best for him. I could really see him winning this game. With our boys alliance, all of the boys feel really comfortable with him. With this crazy week, he did so well with staying under the radar. At the same time, his social game is just awesome cause he was able to kind of make really good connections with some of the girls. I would be really surprised if he was out in the next couple of weeks. I could see him going really far and possibly winning this.

You mentioned a boys alliance. Who all was involved in that, and which other alliances did you see forming in the house?

Mark: I definitely saw Dre and William. We were starting to call them The French Connection. They were definitely working together. It looked like Ika and Gary were kind of working together, as well as Gary and Dre. The girls are kind of running the show right now, especially Gary. I could see him going really far as well. The only person that wasn’t in the boys alliance was will and Demetres. Other than that, we had a pretty strong five person guys alliance that we really wanted to go far just because we knew that the girls were really taking charge and putting up a great fight. The main group was Dallas, Kevin, me and Bruno. We knew early on that the girl were taking over this game and we had to form a strong guys alliance and bring over any girls that we could. I’m curious if they are going to stick together or if they are all going to spread out and try to connect with the girls.

If you had stayed and won HoH, who would you have targeted?

Mark: Karen was definitely on my hit list. It was very well known that we were gunning for each other. She would have been on the block for sure. As for my second nominee, I thought that I was going to choose Ika, but after everything that happened I would have had to talk to everyone and try to figure out who really was on my side. That one was a toss up.

Did the newbies ever discuss sticking together in order to get the veterans out?

Mark: You know what, we really didn’t especially cause Demetres and I were on the block. It was very clear that the veterans kind of were running the game a little bit. A few of the newer houseguests were a little bit scared of them. When I was trying to keep myself safe, I was mostly focused on the veterans because I knew that a lot of the newer houseguests were just going to follow.

Were any showmances developing in the house?

Mark: Not really. Sindy definitely attached on to me very quickly. I wasn’t sure if I was going to make anything of it. She is an awesome girl. I can’t wait to see her outside of the house, but I didn’t want to lead her on and kind of give her any high hopes. I’m really interested in seeing if anything is going to come about with any showmances later on in the season.

Who do you think are the biggest threats to win the game, and why?

Mark: Right now, after week one, Gary and Ika. They are absolutely taking over this house. It’s going to take an army to get those two out of the house. It really is. I feel like a lot of people are really scared of them just because they are not afraid to express their feelings. I am kind of hoping that someone takes them out. At the same time, I don’t think it will be for quite a while.
