Big Brother Canada 6 - Jesse Larson Exit Interview
March 23, 2018
Heading into the week, when Hamza won HoH, what made you feel safe with him?
Jesse: I felt safe with him cause we spent a week in the catacombs together. We cooked a lot of slop meals together as have-nots, and slept in the same room. I really felt I got to know him on more of a personal level. After him winning the HoH and telling me that I was super safe minutes after, I had to just give him the benefit of the doubt.
Who do you think led the charge to get you out of the house?
Jesse: You know, I think Will had a lot of influence with that vote. With him, V, Merron and Hamzy working together, and Will not fully on board, I think that he was ultimately the broken link the whole operation and unfortunately a big part of the reason I am out the door.
When you campaigned on Wednesday night by saying that you would separate yourself from Derek and Kaela, and even target them, what would your plan have been had those people actually kept you?
Jesse: I did not want to target the showmance. Ideally they would have won the next HoH. We could have started to form a little team from there and save it. I was open to the idea.
You pulled six people into the red room yesterday afternoon, just before the live show. Feeds went down towards the end of your pitch. Did you feel that people were receptive to the idea?
Jesse: Everyone verbally said they totally understand the position, but everyone was just too scared to take action collectively as a group. I think it was gaining some traction. I do think it came at them a bit late. I was essentially saying “throw the past three weeks of knowledge out of your head, and let’s focus on this right now”. It was just too late.
At what point would you have wanted to see Kaela go in order to ensure that you were Derek’s number one?Jesse: That’s interesting. I wouldn’t have worried about it until the halfway part of the season. It would all be dependent on who was left in the game because Kaela is super smart. She knows this game inside and out. She would definitely be a threat if we got to Final 5-6 area, so then likely.
You and Paras had a connection. Was it real, or was it game?
Jesse: Paras is awesome. We really genuinely connected. It totally wasn’t game. If anything, it was held back a little bit because of the game. We thought it wouldn’t have been smart to go out into a full blown showmance right out of the gate. Who knows what would have blossomed out of that had I stayed longer than three weeks.
Who would you have chosen if it came down to picking between Derek and Paras, and why?
Jesse: Paras would be better in a Final 2 scenario. It’s tough to put a name to it depending on how the game would have flowed.
Can you explain what happened during the party when Olivia threw water at Paras?
Jesse: Yeah, that was interesting. Liv might have even splashed me a bit jokingly. I am not quite sure what the context of that one was. After a couple drinks were flowing that night, Liv felt the need to splash Paras maybe slightly out of jealousy. I’m not sure.
Paras insisted that Olivia was targeting her for being close to you. Do you agree with her, or do you think Paras was focused on getting Olivia out for other reasons?
Jesse: I think that absolutely could have been the case. I heard that Liv had thrown some names around earlier, including Paras, for those kinds of reasons. I totally believe her for that. I’m not sure what other reasons Paras would have for trying to get Olivia out.
Hamza went from being on the block to winning HoH. Do you think that the target on his back shrunk or got bigger over this past week?
Jesse: I think the target on his back has increased but also his posse increased. I think his position in the game dramatically flipped 360 degrees. If it’s not Daela that wins this next HoH, I am not sure if anyone is going to target Hamzy now cause he has 3-4-5 people behind him. I think he is a massive target but he might skate by for a while longer.
When Arisa asked you for your pick to win the game, you didn’t have an answer for her. Do you have one now?
Jesse: Yeah, i thought about that. That is an extremely tough question cause the game could go any way. Thinking about it more, someone like Johnny could have a good chance. He is pretty physical and pretty social. If he got in the right social groups, he can flip flop groups pretty easily, fly under the radar, and have a good chance at the end.
