Big Brother Canada 6 - Johnny Mulder and Olivia Riemer Exit Interview
April 27, 2018
Do you regret your decision to put Ali on the block instead of someone from the trio, or do you think that Ali and Liv would have went back on their word too?
Johnny: I think that they would have broken their word too. Liv has been denying it so much, but I think that would have been the case, especially cause they came in and tried to ruse me into putting one of them up. I couldn’t risk having Ali, Liv, Derek and Kaela all in the game, working together, and ousting me. That being said, for my heart and who I want to see win this game, it’s more painful for me to see Ali go home than the trio. In that sense I have some mixed feelings.
You and Ali discussed that you would have voted to evict Kaela if Johnny had nominated Maddy. Do you think you would have followed through on that?
Olivia: Yeah, we were going to send Kaela home for sure. At first, of course, we were wavering on the idea. When it was a real possibility that Ali or myself were going to be put on the block as the replacement nominee, we said 100% we will keep our word and vote Kaela out if you don’t put us up.
Johnny: But also consider you would have had an entire week of Derek and Kaela campaigning to you guys, like they did to the trio. That would have been very tempting to you guys.
Olivia: But we are not as easily manipulated.
Johnny: I mean you chose them over Erica and I in the first place. Just saying.
Olivia: Our idea, not theirs.
If Kaela had gone, what would your game plan have been in terms of which side you would be on and who you would have wanted to get to the Final 2 with?
Johnny: I was kind of thinking that Will, Maddy and Paras, if I had soured my jury votes with Derek and Kaela, would have seen me as someone they could have beaten in the end. They would need the remaining two of the trio plus Derek and Kaela to win. That being said, Liv and Ali were definitely my backup options. I think that is what the trio saw. They were correct in what they saw. Again I had my loyalties spread pretty thin across the house. I was setting myself up on too many angles.
You talked about not wanting to go to the Final 2 with Ali. You said this to Johnny at one point last week. Did you want to go to the end with Johnny, or who would your ideal Final 2 have been?
Olivia: On a personal level and on a respect level, I would have loved to go Final 2 with Ali, but I didn’t think it was realistic, and with two people in the finals having a really similar game, I find it hard for either one to have a strong case. I would have been happy to go to Final 2 with Johnny as well.
You found out early in your HoH week that Ali and Olivia had been sharing info with Daela. If not for that, would you still have nominated Ali?
Johnny: They did not know that I knew 100% that was happening. Even weeks prior, when Erica was still inside of the game, was aware they were sharing information. When Kaela told me “many people are telling me you were trying to get me out”, I knew that had to be coming from them and potentially one of Paras, Will and Maddy. I had my suspicions throughout. It didn’t really change things but it definitely cemented things with that conversation we had in the HoH room, with them telling me it was more than what they had been telling me the entire time. It made it easier to put Ali on the block.
Yourself, Ali and Daela talked about not touching each other until the triple eviction. You would get questioned about whether or not you would even target them at that point. How deep into the game did you want to go with Daela?
Olivia: I think it varied from week to week. We were planning on not touching each other until the triple. We were honestly doing that, but Ali and I had very strongly discussed putting them up in the triple, or at least one of them. We wanted Derek out more than anything but we wanted to keep working with Kaela.
At one point you said that you would not vote for Maddy, Paras or Will to win the game if they kept Kaela. Is that still how you feel about that?
Johnny: I loved threatening them with my jury votes. The week I was going home, I was throwing that around to everyone, but no. I think I am still open to the idea of one of them winning. I think Kaela is playing a great game, a frustratingly good game, cause I feel I have seen through her the entire time. Other people just don’t see the same. Can’t control everyone!
Who would you have nominated had you won HoH in the triple eviction?
Olivia: I was going to nominate Will, Paras and Derek. I wanted Will and Paras up there, cause worst case scenario they go home. I would have wanted Derek to go home as well.
Who do you think is playing the better game, Derek or Kaela?
Johnny: I think that Kaela is playing the better game. I think Derek has thought has his strategy of hiding behind Kaela has worked great for him this entire game, but I think it has just lost him some respect. On top of that, I think that Kaela does a lot of the work for that duo. She is thinking of things that Derek isn’t, she is putting in the time, and I would love to see her win over Derek for sure.
Olivia: I think that winning competitions does not necessarily mean that you are playing a better game. Although Derek has more wins than Kaela, I think Kaela is playing Big Brother better than Derek.
Who do you think is playing the best game out of Maddy, Paras and Will?
Johnny: I feel like I was closer with Will than any of them, which Liv hates. I think the game Will is playing was better than the two of them, but I think lately he has been getting lazy. He is not really trying as much. Maddy and Paras, there is a lot of room there for them to impress me still, and they have thus far for the most part.
Olivia: I completely agree with that answer. I feel like Will was a good player in the beginning. At the end, he started getting very entitled with people that he really wasn’t giving anything back to in terms of loyalty. Between Maddy and Paras, I would say they are equal, and I could be swayed either way.
