Big Brother 23 Day 11 - Derek X wins the Power of Veto
July 17, 2021
8:47 AM: Feeds went down for the veto player pick.
9:08 AM: Feeds returned. The veto players are Kyland, Britini, Frenchie, Alyssa, Claire and Derek X.
9:11 AM: Frenchie let Kyland know that he blew up the Slaughterhouse. He told Kyland to start building his relationships with the other side. Frenchie felt as though people were isolating him and Britini, so he let the other half of the house know about the alliance. Kyland said that makes sense. Frenchie said Azah, Britini, Claire, Derek F and Sarah Beth are super loyal. Frenchie warned Kyland that if they could do this to him and stab him in the back, they can do it to Kyland as well. Frenchie suggested that someone got in Kyland’s head that he was going to go rogue and target the alliance. Frenchie said the only way to keep both him and Britini would be to put Brent or Christian up next to one of them. Kyland went along with it. Frenchie said he can call Claire, Derek F, Derek X, Sarah and Tiffany up there and talk to them about the plan.
9:55 AM: Kyland spoke to the cameras once Frenchie left the room. Kyland said that what Frenchie did was a smart move “but come on”.
9:56 AM: Frenchie told Azah and Derek F that he can save both Britini and himself. He explained that Kyland is going to nominate Brent or Christian next to him after the veto is used on Britini. Frenchie let Derek know that Kyland will be wanting to get his opinion on it. Azah was happy with the idea of potentially getting Brent out. Frenchie said if they keep him around, he will go after the rest of the head of the snake next week. Frenchie stressed that the veto has to be used on Britini.
9:57 AM: Alyssa asked Kyland if he wants her to go for the veto. Kyland said he is trying not to express what he wants. Alyssa let him know that she would like to win to build her resume. Kyland said it’s good for anyone to win and it’s also almost always good for the HoH not to have to get more blood on their hands. Kyland asked who is likely to go if nominations stay the same. Alyssa said Frenchie.
10:01 AM: Frenchie told Britini that he is about to stay on the block next to Brent or Christian, and then they will go home since Britini gets a vote. Azah told Frenchie that he will need to shut up. He said that he is going to from this point forward.
10:05 AM: Frenchie told Claire he may have a guaranteed way that both she and Britini can stay there. He said he thinks that Kyland realizes that they both got played and by whom. Frenchie said he would be a shield and has always had Claire’s back. Frenchie argued that they could break the group up, send them scrambling, and then the numbers would be on their side. Claire said it’s a good offer.
10:08 AM: The rest of Alyssa’s team joined her in the HoH room. Xavier asked if there is a game plan for what would happen if one of the nominees were to win the veto. Kyland said that he didn’t want to use his brain power on that until he knows that he has to choose a replacement nominee.
10:20 AM: Claire told Tiffany that Frenchie approached her about using him as a shield. She said he would be a shield for everyone, not just for them. Tiffany said he is now wanting them to help him go after the alliance that he did not previously tell them about, which is a no. Claire said that she will be gunning for the veto.
10:25 AM: Sarah Beth told Kyland that people think Claire, Tiffany and herself are on board with Frenchie’s plan but they are not. She added that the three of them do not trust Frenchie. Sarah warned Kyland that Azah, Britini and Derek F all do seem to trust Frenchie, which means that Kyland may be in danger if any of them win next week. Sarah said she still thinks that Frenchie needs to be the one to go. She told Kyland that Frenchie is trying hard to get her not to trust him.
10:46 AM: Derek F expressed his concerns to Kyland about the plan to target Frenchie. He is more worried about the four of Alyssa, Brent, Christian and Whitney. Derek suggested looking in their direction if the veto is used. Kyland said that’s a great idea. Derek said he doesn’t need to be going after Derek X as he is someone who they can work with when it comes down to it. Out of the four, Derek said that he does like Alyssa. They agreed that she doesn’t have to be the first to go. Kyland pointed out that Frenchie has said things about himself and Xavier, so he could do the same to Derek at some point. While Derek worried about Brent and Whitney winning HoH, Kyland said that Frenchie winning is the same thing.
11:33 AM: Frenchie told Derek X that he is a good dude. He said to stay close to Kyland for him because he is being manipulated as the people that were on his side are using them to do their dirty work.
11:38 AM: Britini spoke to the cameras. She said that their plan could work as long as Alyssa doesn’t win the veto. She fears that Alyssa would leave nominations the same.
12:28 PM: Kyland asked Hannah what she would like to see happen after the veto ceremony. She said that she would like to see Frenchie go home. Kyland said he thinks they escape this week without nominating someone from the Cookout while still avoiding creating any suspicion about them working together. Kyland said he plans to continue publicly working with certain people outside of the alliance in hope of going on the block next to them rather than next to another member of the Cookout. He said that Tiffany is doing that as well.
1:04 PM: Derek X let Kyland know that if the opportunity arises to throw the veto competition to him or to Alyssa, he will likely do that.
1:09 PM: Feeds went down for the veto competition.
5:41 PM: Feeds returned. Derek X won the Power of Veto.
5:47 PM: Kyland filled Derek X in on the pitch that Frenchie made earlier in the day. Kyland said Frenchie was letting his desperation make him sloppy. Kyland explained that Frenchie was trying to get him to go after Brent, Christian and Whitney. Derek and Kyland eventually grabbed the chess board and spent a significant amount of time reviewing the house and all of the groups and potential groups in it.
5:52 PM: Alyssa asked Britini how she is feeling. Britini said she is okay since she did everything she could and moved as fast as her little body could during the competition. Britini said she ultimately knows that she is fine. Alyssa advised her to relax, have fun, and then do one on ones on Wednesday if she is still on the block.
6:05 PM: Azah told Tiffany that Frenchie prayed to God after not having done so in years. He said he asked God to give him a clear mind this morning, then he came up with this plan. Azah said she thinks that the plan could work. Azah suggested that the veto needs to be used on Britini so that Brent can be put on the block. Tiffany asked if Azah is comfortable talking to Kyland about it. She said that Frenchie already brought it up and Kyland is considering it.
6:18 PM: Britini told Azah that Derek X needs to hear that Kyland doesn’t have his back after he won this veto. She added that Derek needs to ask himself if getting Frenchie out really benefits his game. Britini said that she would be 100% fine working with Derek moving forward. She called him a beast and said that he is unbeatable in veto competitions. Azah said it would be asking a lot of him to use the veto in order to get his teammate, Brent, on the block. Britini said he was already going after Brent, but Azah thought that it may have since changed.
6:34 PM: Frenchie let Xavier know that he has him outside of this house for life. Xavier encouraged Frenchie to be happy. Frenchie promised that he is good and that they will have fun until he leaves on Thursday.
7:04 PM: Frenchie told Hannah and Tiffany that the last thing he would want is for his kids to see people being mean about him. Hannah said she doesn’t think that he has to worry about them attacking him personally.
7:09 PM: Frenchie told Azah and Xavier that he is not going to have a pity party. He said that they are going to have a blast and do something fun every day until he is gone.
7:10 PM: Frenchie told Derek X and Kyland that he doesn’t want to talk game. He said this has been a blast and he wants to say nice checkmate. Kyland said we’ll see. Frenchie assured them that there are no hard feelings if he goes home, and he hopes that they will still come to the farm. Frenchie said worst case scenario he gets to go see his babies, and best case scenario he stays another day and will always be the bigger target than the two of them. Frenchie told Derek and Kyland that the two of them need to stick together.
7:34 PM: Frenchie told Derek F that he had a blast and he probably gave the fans one of the most fun first weeks ever. Frenchie said the thing he is the most proud of is their final two. Derek said he feels defeated since he did not expect to be there for the summer without him. Derek said he is trying to keep Brent and Christian at each other’s throats. Frenchie said they read everyone like a book and his Big Brother radar is off the chain. Derek said he already voiced his concerns to Kyland since the two of them and Xavier will get slaughtered by the rest of the alliance.
8:46 PM: Britini told Frenchie that Derek X and Kyland apparently want to have a meeting with her. She expects them to say that they are not using the veto. Britini said she wants to present to Kyland that it was very clear he was a pawn and he got taken off of the block, and he made it very clear that she was a pawn so she would like to be taken off as that pawn. Frenchie said that she has to accept what it is at this point. She told Britini not to take it out on Kyland, as it is not him. She said that she has no reason to be mad at him if he isn’t mad at him. Britini asked if there is anything to be said to Derek. Frenchie said no. He told Britini that he does not want any feathers ruffled at this point.
8:52 PM: Xavier told Tiffany that he likes Frenchie as a man but his gameplay has been so erratic that he is a liability. Tiffany brought up Frenchie telling her and Claire about the Slaughterhouse last night. Tiffany said she knows Frenchie created it because he talked about wanting create an alliance with that name from the beginning. Tiffany then talked about him approaching them about wanting to start a girls alliance. They agreed that they have no issue with Frenchie on a personal level but he played too hard. Tiffany said Frenchie thinks he makes the show as he said the rating will drop if he leaves. Tiffany said it is not the Frenchie show and she will be voting to evict him if he is on the block on Thursday. Xavier agreed. Tiffany told Xavier that Azah and Derek F are still drinking Frenchie’s Kool-Aid so that’s why she is talking to him about all of this.
9:36 PM: Frenchie told Whitney that he has not been feeling good about doing some thing that he would not do outside of this house. He said he thinks that’s why he wants to go. Whitney asked for specifics. Frenchie said he was told that he was thrown under the bus by five people including her. Whitney said she did not say one bad thing about him until yesterday when he asked why she was smirking. Whitney said she has a hard time believing him. Whitney clarified that she has no beef with him outside of the house. Whitney said she was so caught off guard by him saying that he was out of the alliance. The two talked things over for a long time, with Frenchie saying he took it out on her the most because he likes her the most. Frenchie admitted that he got mad at her based on a feeling and not facts. Frenchie claimed that his loyalty has always been with the Slaughterhouse and he would not go against an alliance that he named. Both expressed they felt as though the other was using the fact that they were parents to get close for game reasons, and then to exploit that relationship. They said they wished that the communication had been better.
10:44 PM: Frenchie told Derek F that he is about to ask to go home. Derek pleaded with him to stop. Frenchie said he doesn’t want to take the chance that he will be stuck in a hotel room for four weeks. Derek asked him to sleep on it but Frenchie said he is ready to pack his bags and go.
11:19 PM: Kyland told Britini that the house consensus remains that Frenchie needs to go. Kyland said he does not want Derek to use the veto because he does not want to have to put somebody else on the block. Derek chimed in and said it is his understanding that Frenchie will be leaving 12-0. Britini said it’s a game and she has no reason to be upset with either of them, and she will not retaliate if she wins HoH next week.
12:01 AM: Britini told Derek F that Kyland made it very clear he wants the chaos to end, which means he thinks that Frenchie has to leave. Britini said she let him know that she is not pissed. Britini said she told Derek X and Kyland that they are safe if she wins HoH next week. She explained that they are being manipulated and this is not their fault. Derek said he needs to talk to Kyland since both of their teams will now be down a player. Derek said “I’m coming for each one of them b*tches heads on a platter”. Britini said she made it clear that she is not after them next week but she did not promise safety beyond that. She also said that Derek can go after them next week if he wins.
1:12 AM: Derek F said he doesn’t get why they are getting rid of a teammate. Brent said Frenchie should not have run around telling people about the alliance, or have told people that he knows who the votes were. Derek said he is chilling and he will check up on Frenchie to make sure that he is okay. Brent said he thinks Frenchie knows that he betrayed him because he has been so distant from him. Brent explained that Frenchie was throwing him under the bus to people close to him. Brent reassured Brent that they will be okay. He said they have the seven remaining alliance members plus he has Derek X and Hannah on his side. Derek said they will be looking stupid next week if a girl wins, as a girl should be going this week. Derek said that they are slipping now. Brent said they can get to the end with the rest of the Slaughterhouse if they do it right.
