Big Brother 23 Day 13 - Derek X decides not to use the Power of Veto
July 19, 2021
10:31 AM: Derek F told Kyland that this probably would have been the week to win HoH if he was going to win one. Derek talked about not wanting to win until they get down to around six now. Derek said he gets why Kyland is making this move and he knows that he cannot change his mind. Derek admitted that he would save Frenchie if he could, since he believes that Frenchie would help them down the line. He said he respects the move and will go along with it because there may come a time where he wants something that Kyland does not, and Kyland will have to go along with things at that point. Derek talked about a final three with Kyland and Xavier, and a final two with Kyland. Derek said he would never be upset if Kyland were to take Xavier, but he knows that it would be tough to win over the jury against Xavier. Kyland said that Xavier will likely have three teammates in jury. As for next week, Derek said the next person to go needs to be a girl. He suggested that it will probably be Claire or Whitney, which will be followed by Brent the next week.
11:00 AM: Kyland spoke to the cameras. He said it was awesome for Derek F to come to him with a final two. Kyland said he loves Big D and would be down to sit at the end with him. He also thinks that they would have a fair shot against each other as of now. Kyland said they have to make it through these next couple of weeks and cannot have Brent or Whitney win HoH. As for Sarah Beth, Kyland said he will take her as far as he possibly can but he admitted that the final two phrasing is not completely truthful.
11:04 AM: Frenchie said they all know that he is going home but he wants to be on the block against someone that would allow him to leave with his head held high. Derek F suggested that he go talk to Kyland and work his magic. Frenchie said he is past that point and just doesn’t want to be sitting next to Britini.
11:11 AM: Derek F asked Britini who she would go after first. He assumed that it would be Brent and Whitney but Britini threw Hannah’s name out there. Derek suggested that she leave Hannah for later in order to get Brent or Whitney out first.
11:31 AM: Kyland let Claire and Tiffany know that Derek X is down to work with the group, referring to the Kings and the Queens. They said that he is the ace up their sleeve. Kyland said Derek is willing to throw HoH to them but not to the Kings even though he would not be targeting them.
11:51 AM: Frenchie joined Kyland in the HoH room. Kyland assured him that there is still a lot of time for things to change. He added that he is open to all options. Frenchie reiterated that he has cared about him since Day 1 and even told his team that he will always go to bat for him. Frenchie made it clear that he would not target Kyland or even use him as a pawn if he were to win HoH again. Frenchie said they could work together to decide the best route to take. Kyland said that would require full trust. Frenchie explained that he let some family things get in the way of game, which led to him making some bad decisions. Frenchie talked about being willing to give Derek X a second chance. Kyland said he would like to know who the two votes were if they are going to build trust. Frenchie said he is allowed to tell one of them but he can go ask the second person if he can share the details. Frenchie said he made a promise not to tell and wants to stick to his promises. Frenchie then talked about wanting to sit next to a strong competitor in order to make things interesting. He said that there is no campaigning against Britini so it will be boring Big Brother with him having zero chance. Kyland argued that he is not being honest if he says that because there is never zero chance in this game.
12:10 PM: Feeds went down for the veto ceremony.
1:22 PM: Feeds returned. Derek X decided not to use the Power of Veto. Britini and Frenchie remain nominated.
1:23 PM: Kyland spoke to the team of Brent, Derek X, Hannah and Whitney. He asked if they still feel the same about the vote. Whitney said yes. Brent added that he would surprised if it’s not unanimous. Kyland looked to see if the team was willing to offer him any protection moving forward. Brent said Kyland has his trust until he gives him a reason not to. Whitney said that his name has not even been on the radar. Brent said his gender hasn’t even come up since they have to target females. Hannah called Kyland a man of integrity and said those are the type of people that she wants to keep in the game. Should Kyland go up due to someone outside of the team, he will have their votes.
1:24 PM: Britini spoke to the cameras. She said that she plans to chill for the rest of the week. She doesn’t think that Frenchie plans to campaign, plus she believes that everyone wants him gone. Britini said she meant it when she said that she came there to be a beast, and now she has a reason to put whoever she wants on the block.
1:38 PM: Derek X told Kyland that he is curious if the Kings have a consensus target for next week as knowing that information would help him decide whether or not to throw HoH to them. Kyland said everyone has talked about the same target, referring to Brent and Whitney.
1:40 PM: Kyland spoke to the Kings. Christian let him know that they have his back next week. Alyssa and Sarah Beth said the same thing and added that they will protect his team as well. Kyland told the team that yesterday Derek X wasn’t sure about throwing HoH to them but just now he said that he is curious how they feel because he is wondering if it would be safe to throw to them. Alyssa said 100%. The team discussed that Alyssa is the one they would prefer to get HoH if at all possible. Xavier asked if their team is on the radar of other teams. Kyland said no but a couple of people have said to pay attention to the couples. While Kyland only named Frenchie and not the second person to say that, he said the other person is not coming after Alyssa and Christian. Alyssa still worried and said she would want to target that person. The group was surprised to hear that Brent and Whitney are referred to as a duo.
1:57 PM: Frenchie let Britini know that he is super proud of her and he picked her for a reason. He said that she is proving why he did it every day. He said that she became his little sister in the house.
2:00 PM: Frenchie asked if the others would have rolled the dice on Day 1. Brent said yes but Derek X said he would not have wanted to risk anything for his team. While Frenchie would be safe this week had he done it, he said that he does not regret not doing it.
2:03 PM: Alyssa and Kyland had further discussions about the duo of Brent and Whitney. Kyland said that if Brent was able to rally the votes, then they never had a shot at stopping him since everyone is claiming to be targeting him during discussions this week.
2:07 PM: Alyssa told Christian and Xavier that the plan is still to act as though they are in the Slaughterhouse. She said Brent, Derek F and Whitney still believe that it is a thing. She mentioned throwing HoH to Claire, Tiffany or Sarah Beth so that they can take the shot. Alyssa told her teammates that Kyland said every single person wants Brent and Whitney on the block. Christian said it would be better for Brent to go. Alyssa and Xavier agreed.
2:39 PM: Britini told Kyland that everyone is telling her that she has nothing to worry about but she will do her one on ones on Wednesday to check in with people. Kyland promised that he will let her know if he hears of anyone having any doubts, but no one has had any up to this point.
2:41 PM: Kyland met with Frenchie’s team. Frenchie said he told Britini not to be upset with Kyland since even he is not upset with him. Britini clarified that she is not upset. Frenchie pointed out that his team and Kyland’s team will each be down a person, so it’s best that they work together in order to avoid one of them having their whole team picked off. He also said there is a possibility that someone from one of their teams could end up returning. Frenchie said that he will not be campaigning against Britini and will not say one word against her. He did ask that he not be evicted by a unanimous vote. Derek F said that he is willing to vote to keep Frenchie. Azah said that they don’t have to bring it up with anyone else if they have already settled it amongst their own team.
3:06 PM: Frenchie told Kyland he knows that he is going out but he has had Kyland’s back since Day 1. Frenchie said he refuses to ruin anyone’s games before he leaves. He told Kyland that he doesn’t want him to find himself in the same position next week as he did following his HoH reign. Frenchie said he would like for Kyland to be the last person that he speaks to on the way out the door, as he wants to tell him he loves him. Frenchie said he has a lot of respect for Kyland and would like to work with him and Derek X should there be a Battle Back.
3:50 PM: Feeds returned after being down for 41 minutes.
4:53 PM: Brent told Derek X that the second Alyssa said she wants to be best friends with him outside of the house, he cut that off because he would want something else if anything. He said that there are plenty of other women if not. He mentioned that he likes Hannah too. Brent said he doesn’t like competing for women and he can see that Christian is all over Alyssa. As for Hannah, Brent said that he is not her type. Derek suggested that he has Whitney. Brent said he could never with Whitney.
7:40 PM: Brent told Derek F and Derek X that if Frenchie wants to keep lying, that’s how you get a terrible reputation in the house. He thinks that Frenchie, knowing that he is going home, had the opportunity to come clean and apologize. Brent said that Frenchie went from being the hero to the villain so quickly.
8:35 PM: Derek F asked Xavier what he thinks in terms of who they should take with them out of Azah, Kyland and Tiffany. Xavier said the goal is to take all of them. Derek said he knows that 100% but he wants to know who they are brining to final three. He mentioned Kyland’s name. Xavier asked if he thinks that he can beat Kyland. Derek said he thinks so since Kyland is likely to lose more members of his team before jury. Derek told Xavier that Kyland is on board with going final three with the two of them. Derek said Xavier is the only person fully getting him and he is going to follow his lead. Derek asked if he should be worried about Alyssa, Christian and Sarah Beth. Xavier said no.
9:15 PM: Alyssa and Christian laid upstairs together while the the rest of the houseguests slowly began to gather in the living room. There was little to no game talk.
9:39 PM: The houseguests went outside to play foosball and pool.
10:52 PM: The houseguests gathered outside as Derek F hosted his talk show.
11:22 PM: Derek F asked Frenchie if he is going to do one on ones this week. Frenchie said that he will give him his right now. Derek told Frenchie to stop teasing him. The feeds then cut to elsewhere in the house.
12:42 PM: Claire and Hannah discussed that Alyssa is Xavier’s type but Christian is also involved with Alyssa. Hannah thinks that Christian is pursuing Alyssa but Alyssa is probably just bored. Claire pointed out that they are all on the same team. The girls agreed that they see something happening with Brent and Whitney. Claire said she thinks that Kyland is cute but she doesn’t think they would be that compatible dating. Hannah didn’t think so either. Hannah said that she is too young for Brent and Kyland. Hannah said of all of the guys, she could see Claire with Xavier the most. Claire said she thinks that they have similar personalities. She did say she thinks Xavier takes relationships seriously whereas she starts off less seriously. Claire said Derek X reminds her the most of people that she has dated in the past in terms of personality, but she sees him as more of a brother in the house. Hannah said she isn’t interested in a showmance. She said that she does not like Derek X but she has a crush on him.
1:30 AM: Hannah asked Tiffany if there is anyone on her radar heading into next week. Tiffany said Hannah’s team minus her and Derek X. Hannah acknowledged that Brent is a big threat. She said that right now she would like for her team not to be targeted since there would be more people fighting for her safety the next week, but she gets it. As for Whitney, Tiffany said there is something about the way she moves that makes her think that she is cutthroat. Tiffany added that it’s the fakeness for her. Tiffany said she and her team having been talking about Hannah since Day 1 and they want her with them. Hannah said she has been talking more with Claire recently and likes her. Tiffany said Claire is her girl and they are coming for her and she cannot lose her. Tiffany made it clear that she will not sit Hannah next to Brent or Whitney. Hannah said she is never coming after the five others in the Cookout.
