Big Brother 23 Day 39 - Alyssa wins the Power of Veto; Kyland recieves the second PoV
August 14, 2021
9:43 AM: Feeds went down to pick players for the veto competition.
10:19 AM: Feeds returned. The veto players are Kyland, Claire, Derek F, Alyssa, Azah and Britini.
A second veto is in play and could potentially be won due to the High Roller’s Room.
Claire bet on Kyland to win the PoV.
Derek F bet on Britini to win the PoV.
Kyland bet on Alyssa to win the PoV.
Sarah Beth bet on Azah to win the PoV.If the person you bet on wins the Power of Veto, you get the second Power of Veto. If Claire or Derek F win the veto competition, there will not be a second Power of Veto this week. The twist would then potentially be in play for next week.
10:23 AM: Azah wondered Sarah Beth why Sarah Beth bet on her. Britini said because she knows that Azah is going to go for it. Derek F said Azah can still use the veto on him if she wins. Britini told Azah and Derek F to throw it to her if they can, as all three of them would then be safe since they would have two vetoes.
10:44 AM: When Kyland and Tiffany were talking about who Claire would go after, Tiffany said she talks to Claire every single day and knows that she is not after Azah. Tiffany said Claire is looking at Britini and Sarah Beth. Kyland asked if Derek F is at the top of her list. Tiffany said no. She also told Kyland that Claire is not worried about Xavier.
10:59 AM: Kyland and Tiffany discussed the ideal eviction order. Kyland wondered if this week is best to take Derek X out since he has $100 and could continue to win more and win a big power. Tiffany said Kyland would lose his jury vote. Kyland asked when else they can get him out. Tiffany said during the double eviction. They then discussed that Britini will have enough money to play the roulette game next week. Tiffany suggested that she should go this week for that reason. Kyland said that is 1000% what he wants to do. He added that he has all of the reasons to go after Britini. Tiffany said she thinks it’s not bad if the second veto is not won this week, as that means she can play again next week and there is a chance it is available in the event that someone plays the roulette game and two Cookout members are on the block. Tiffany encouraged Kyland to paint Britini as a floater when he talks to Derek X, in hope of getting him on board with Britini being targeted. They agreed that Britini winning the veto is the worst case scenario.
11:16 AM: Kyland told Claire, Derek X and Sarah Beth that they don’t want the power to be used if at all possible. Sarah Beth said she wants it to be used so that they don’t have to worry about it next week with a smaller pool of people to choose from and the roulette power in play. Kyland said he is indifferent.
11:21 AM: Claire and Sarah Beth discussed that Britini winning is the worst case scenario. Claire asked Sarah Beth what she would do if Azah wins the veto and SB gets the second one. Sarah Beth said she would take down Claire.
11:26 AM: Tiffany and Xavier discussed that Britini cannot win the veto. While Xavier said that Alyssa winning is the best case scenario, Tiffany said Claire winning is best. Xavier argued that they want the power used. Tiffany said it’s not the worst case if it isn’t used, as she will keep playing the veto game next week if the roulette power is in play and can lead to two Cookout members nominated. They agreed that they would like to target Britini this week.
11:30 AM: Kyland told Hannah that Azah will take Derek F down if she doesn’t know that Britini is going up. Hannah said she thinks that Azah would keep nominations the same. Kyland said they could have Sarah Beth take Claire down, and if Azah takes down Derek F, Alyssa and Britini could be nominated. Kyland said they could then send Britini out since it’s best for the Cookout. Kyland asked if Hannah agrees with what Tiffany said in that Claire’s targets are not in the Cookout except for Derek F, and she is open to changing that. Hannah said yes. The two then discussed the next two weeks. Kyland said he would prefer Sarah Beth go next so people stop looking at him, but he wondered if Derek X going next is better. Hannah said she thinks they can stick to the original plan of Sarah Beth going followed by Derek X.
11:51 AM: Britini and Claire discussed that at least one veto is likely to be used. Britini told Claire that if she wins, Derek F will take himself down and then she would use her veto on Claire if she feels that Claire would go home over the replacement nominee. Britini clarified that she would have to be sure that Azah would not go up in order for her to do that. Britini let Claire know that Azah and Derek F are going to throw it to her if they can.
12:04 PM: Claire told Derek X and Tiffany that the Jokers are going to try to throw the competition to Britini. She also said Britini told her that Derek F would rather stay on the block than have one of his former teammates go up. Derek X and Tiffany said they are tight.
12:07 PM: Tiffany spoke to the cameras and said that she does not want to lose Claire right now when they are other options to send home. Tiffany said she can keep Claire from putting any of the six on the block. Tiffany brought up that Kyland is trying to pull her back in closer. She said that she will work closely with him but she will be sleeping with one eye open. As for Derek X, Tiffany worried that he is smart enough to catch on that decisions being made don’t align with the alliances in the house.
12:39 PM: Hannah told Claire that in an ideal world Alyssa would go up in her place. If he cannot go up, Hannah asked if it’s beneficial for Britini to go. Claire said it would be nice to split up the Jokers. Claire figures that Kyland is keeping Alyssa and Xavier in the game so that they have to target those two over him. Claire and Hannah discussed that Derek X is too trusting of Kyland. Claire said she thinks Derek X wants to keep Kyland around because Kyland is worried about the girls all working together.
12:50 PM: Hannah told Tiffany that she would prefer for Kyland to win the veto. If not, she said Britini winning is not a bad option since it would result in Alyssa going up. Tiffany said Kyland wants to keep Alyssa. Hannah said he wouldn’t have any other choice unless he put one of them up instead. The two then talked about needing to throw Derek X off of the scent in terms of them working with Kyland. Hannah worried that he is becoming suspicious after he found out that Kyland had shared some information with her earlier in the day, as he said that was “interesting”.
1:24 PM: Azah told Britini and Derek F that they should both use the veto if Britini wins. Azah said she wants to force Kyland’s hand to see who he would nominate. She said she would rather risk going up just to see. Britini said she is not going to use the veto if Azah isn’t the first replacement nominee in that scenario, as she does not want Azah on the block come Thursday.
1:28 PM: Hannah told Xavier she would prefer if Claire and Derek F didn’t win since Alyssa or Kyland winning leads to the same outcome and the power would then be out of play for next week. The two discussed that Kyland is becoming a bit of a liability. They agreed that they would like for him to go first once they get down to six.
1:38 PM: Azah asked Britini and Derek F if she should go for the veto. Britini told her that she has to go for it. Given that the competition is OTEV, Derek said he is not going up the ramp unless Britini is already up there. He suggested that Azah could do the same since Britini winning is the best case for them. Britini pointed out that she would then be guaranteed to make it past the first two rounds.
1:40 PM: Alyssa, Claire and Kyland strategized for the OTEV competition. They discussed who would go to which areas of the yard. Claire let Kyland know that Derek F plans to follow him around.
2:18 PM: Derek X asked Kyland if he has a goal for the week. Kyland said his goal is to remove potentially threatening variables. He said there is only one person he isn’t sure about as to what they would do if they were to win HoH. Derek asked if Kyland wants Britini to go this week. Kyland said “overwhelmingly”.
3:36 PM: Tiffany told Hannah that Kyland claims she is in on everything he has going on, which is what he uses to pitch her that she is his final two. Tiffany said there is one thing that Kyland doesn’t share with her, which is that it’s him and Derek F. Tiffany said that is Kyland’s true final two. Hannah said she believes that. They talked about Derek F being someone that everyone will want to take to the end. Tiffany suggested that all three guys will need to be the first to go once it gets down to the Cookout. Hannah said she doesn’t know about taking Azah to the final three. Tiffany said they could beat her. Hannah preferred to go to the final three with Xavier, which Tiffany said she is fine with.
4:23 PM: Feeds went down for the veto competition.
6:22 PM: Feeds returned. Alyssa won the Power of Veto. As a result of his bet, Kyland received the second Power of Veto.
6:25 PM: Claire, Derek X and Tiffany discussed that Kyland threw the veto to Alyssa. They were unhappy with his decision to do so, as Claire would have received the second veto had Kyland won. Tiffany told Claire that Alyssa had said she would use it on her. Derek suggested that Claire talk to Kyland before speaking to Alyssa.
6:28 PM: Xavier told Kyland he thinks that this was the best case scenario. Kyland said he wanted Alyssa to feel good and also wants to make Claire feel good, which he believes that he can do by using the veto on her. They discussed that Britini would then go on the block. Kyland asked Xavier how bad the final round looked. Xavier said it looked like Kyland threw it.
6:36 PM: Kyland asked Claire to be honest if she bet on him because she feared that he would not use the veto on her. Claire sad yes. Kyland said he wanted to make sure she knows that she can trust him, and there is no question that he will be using it. He said that it will be used on her and he is willing to say that to whoever she wants. Claire said that telling her is good enough.
6:40 PM: Kyland told Derek F that he is not going anywhere. Kyland filled Derek in on his plan to use the veto on Claire in order to nominate Britini. Kyland said it will be a 7-1 vote with Azah being the only one to keep Britini. Derek worried that he and Azah would then be alone. Kyland said that people wont have reason to nominate them once Britini leaves. Kyland said he would like if Derek could tell Azah that he filled him in on the plan prior to the competition and asked Derek to let her know but he forgot. Derek said he will just say he knew about the plan beforehand.
6:41 PM: Claire told Derek X and Tiffany that Kyland said this was about trust and he is going to show her that the veto will be used and she is going to come off of the block.
6:43 PM: Britini told Xavier she is pissed since she could have saved them all today. She said this sucks because she thinks that the vote will be 4-4 and then Kyland will break the tie by evicting Derek F.
6:50 PM: Alyssa and Claire discussed that Kyland seemed to have thrown the veto competition. Claire said Kyland told her that she will come off of the block. Alyssa said that makes sense if he wants Britini out. Alyssa said she will keep it the same after Kyland makes his move.
7:39 PM: Xavier told Hannah that Kyland probably knew the answer in the last round and he is smart enough that he could have thrown it better. Hannah said Kyland thinks the rest of them are fools. Xavier said he is pissing everyone off and becoming a liability. Xavier called Kyland a house target at this point. Hannah said he will have to go up next to Sarah Beth. She mentioned that Sarah Beth may need to stick around if Kyland is going to be the target week after week, because he would be in a vulnerable position. She suggested that Alyssa may need to go next instead. Derek X was also mentioned as a possible target. Both agreed that Derek will need to go if Alyssa or Xavier win HoH since they are the only ones that can take that shot.
7:40 PM: Derek X told Azah that what Kyland did by throwing the competition makes no sense. He said it seems obvious that Claire is his target at this point, or else he would have won the veto and let Claire have the second one. Derek said he is trying to figure out where people are in the game. He said there is Alyssa and Xavier, Kyland and Sarah Beth, people put him and Hannah together, Claire and Tiffany, and then the Jokers as a threesome. Derek said he doesn’t know what the connections are between those but he does not believe that there are none. Derek said he is scared there could be a powerful group of four that he is not seeing. Derek asked if Azah has thought about it. She said not until now.
7:54 PM: Derek F told Britini that he wont dare campaign if Azah or Britini end up on the block next to him. Britini told Derek he needs to explain to Kyland that this is his chance to take out someone who is a threat to him moving forward. Britini later cried and said that she does not want Derek to go home since he is one of the only people she can trust and talk to in the house.
7:56 PM: Alyssa told Kyland that she is down to help with his plan as long as Sarah Beth and Xavier are good. They agreed that it is best for Alyssa not to know the plan at this point. Kyland said he will fill her in on what he would like for her to do and who the replacement nominee would be prior to Monday’s veto ceremony. Kyland asked Alyssa who is at the top and bottom of her list. She said Derek X is at the top of her list followed by Britini. She said the two current nominees are the ones that she is least worried about. Kyland asked if Alyssa would promise to vote to evict who he wants. Alyssa said she would do it as long as Sarah Beth, Xavier and possibly Hannah are not on the block. Alyssa let Kyland know that she is not going after Kyland, Sarah Beth or Xavier if she wins next week.
8:23 PM: Kyland told Xavier he is annoyed by how the final round looked. Xavier admitted that it looked awful. Kyland asked Xavier if he and Alyssa would 100% vote to evict Britini. Xavier said yes. Kyland said Azah can vote for Britini to stay, making it a 7-1 vote. Kyland said he feels strongly that Sarah Beth should be the next to go but he is concerned about Derek X winning the third power. Xavier said he has talked with Hannah about it and the shot at Derek X may have to be taken next week.
8:52 PM: Alyssa told Derek F that she doesn’t know what she is doing yet. She mentioned that Kyland did not tell her anything when they spoke. Derek said he feels as though Kyland may use the veto on Claire.
8:55 PM: Alyssa let Xavier know that she and Kyland agreed it’s best for her not to know what the plan is so that she does not have to lie to people. Alyssa said he promised not to nominate Sarah Beth or Xavier, and he will let her know before Monday if he wants her to use the veto and who will be going up. The two discussed that Derek X will have to be their target if they win HoH next week.
9:28 PM: Derek F told Azah that the only thing that might save Britini is if they can get Derek X on the block instead. Azah said if Kyland puts Derek up a day after he shared this info with her, the whole house will know by the end of the week. Derek said they need to see what Hannah knows. Azah said she wants to talk to Hannah first. Azah mentioned that she doesn’t trust Kyland and the way that he is operating is what has put them in this position. Azah said Derek believes that Kyland threw the veto competition and he is wondering why. Derek encouraged Azah to talk to Hannah about her conversation with Derek X.
9:39 PM: Alyssa told Claire that Kyland didn’t give her much during their conversation. Claire said she does not know what Kyland is going to do but he did tell her that she was a pawn when they initially talked. They agreed that the smartest move would be to nominate Britini. Claire said she believes that Kyland should be the one using the veto and that it would be best for Alyssa’s game not to use hers.
10:44 PM: Derek F let Kyland know that he had a talk with Azah. He said it went well but she feels as though Kyland had this planned from the start. Kyland said he didn’t have it planned until this morning. Derek asked if Kyland is sure that he isn’t worried about Derek X. Kyland said he is worried about him. Derek then suggested targeting him this week. Kyland said there is no support from the move and the rest of the Cookout does not want it to happen. Kyland said he personally would like to see Sarah Beth go next week but he is fine with it if they decide to get Derek X out instead. Derek said he would likely nominate Alyssa and Sarah Beth. Derek X was mentioned as a backup option. He later circled back to asking Kyland if he is sure that he doesn’t want to take the shot this week. Kyland said they need to take out the person who would go for the next power, which is Britini.
1:15 AM: Kyland told Tiffany that he wasn’t able to make a plan until the bets were placed. Kyland said he explained to Derek X that his goal is to get rid of the factors that are unpredictable. Kyland mentioned that he asked Alyssa before the competition if they got to the end if she wanted him to throw it to her, and she said no. Kyland said when they actually made it to the end he decided to throw it to her and his brain was thinking so much about how to throw it that he could not think of the right answer. Kyland said he knew Claire bet on him because she doesn’t trust him to take her down, and now he can prove to her that he meant what he said about using the veto on her. As for the rest of the week, Tiffany said it’s better for Azah to be upset with Kyland for putting Britini up than for Derek X to be upset with him due to Claire leaving. Kyland agreed.
1:33 AM: Tiffany spoke to the cameras and said she wanted to see if Kyland would be honest about throwing the veto and he was. Tiffany said she needs Kyland to feel that she is closer to him. She figures that she and Xavier ranked high in Kyland’s exercise in which he asked who is the most influential. Tiffany explained that Sarah Beth needs to go since she thinks that she is the most influential and in every HoH’s ear.
1:34 AM: The Detectives met up in the HoH room. Kyland said he wants to make sure everyone knows that he is taking Claire down. Kyland asked the group if they want to do something to bring in Hannah. They agreed. Derek X said they could call themselves The Detectives again. Claire said it would be tough to differentiate between the four and five person versions of The Detectives. Tiffany said they can see if Hannah has a name. Claire and Tiffany then discussed calling it “The Agency”.
2:22 AM: Kyland explained to Azah that he couldn’t map out a plan until they saw the veto picks and the bets. Azah asked who the veto will be used on. Kyland said Claire. Azah asked why the target changed from Claire. Kyland explained that he didn’t have enough information and Claire was a safe placeholder. He said it came down to who those outside of the six were targeting and who had the money and desire to go for the power next week. Azah asked if he came to the decision himself. Kyland said he came to the decision after finding out that people’s preferred targets were Alyssa and Britini.
2:32 AM: Hannah and Kyland discussed that the right move is leaving Claire in the game. Hannah said that if Claire was taken out, Derek X would be incentivized to go after Kyland and it would look bad if she or Tiffany won and didn’t come after him too. Hannah told Kyland she is thinking that Alyssa may need to go before Sarah Beth at this point because people may nominate Kyland next to her or Derek F since they would fear putting him up next to Derek X.
2:33 AM: Azah told Derek F not to worry about her. Azah said she got the answers to the questions that she needed. She said that Britini is going home. Derek asked if she feels like what she told him earlier about Derek X would help. Azah said no since Kyland planned this from the beginning and nothing is going to change it. Azah told Derek that one of them will be going home next week if the six doesn’t win HoH, since Kyland messed a lot of things up.
