Big Brother 23 Day 46 - Xavier wins the Power of Veto
August 21, 2021
8:59 AM: Feeds went down for the veto player selection.
9:15 AM: Feeds returned. The veto players are Sarah Beth, Claire, Xavier, Alyssa, Azah and Derek F.
3:15 PM: Feeds went down for the veto competition.
8:55 PM: Feeds returned. Xavier won the Power of Veto. Xavier received multiple punishments during the competition. He will be the third nominee in the next week that he is not HoH, he lost all of his BB Bucks, and he will have 24 hours of solitary confinement starting later this week. Derek F won $7,500 during the competition.
8:57 PM: Xavier told Alyssa he is dealing with the reality that being safe means that he is going to be nominated again by a power. Alyssa said she went for the solitary confinement, the BB Bankrupt and the slop. Xavier pointed out that he will be playing in the veto competition next week. Xavier said he had to go for the third nominee punishment or else he thought that Claire would have beat him.
9:02 PM: Kyland asked Xavier how the third nominee works with the Coin of Destiny. Xavier said the only way for him to come down is by having the veto used on him.
9:04 PM: Alyssa, Sarah Beth and Xavier discussed Xavier’s solitary confinement punishment. Sarah Beth said it’s the 24 hours leading up to the live eviction.
9:06 PM: Azah told Derek F that she might go on the block now. Derek said they will put Derek X up. He asked what she wanted him to do and why he wouldn’t go for the money when he is safe for the week. Azah pointed out that the perception is that Alyssa took him down and replaced him with Xavier. Derek said he knew that Alyssa or Xavier were going to win as soon as he saw the competition. Azah said she is looking at it from the angle of jury management and working with the Kings. Derek reiterated that he is safe and he knew that he could not win the competition so he went for the money.
9:17 PM: Derek F asked Alyssa if she is mad at him because he went for the money. Alyssa said no and she does not care because Xavier is off of the block. Derek said he was safe and knew that he would not win the competition. Alyssa said he is fine.
9:19 PM: Claire cried in the shower. Derek X laughed and told her to leave that in the DR. Derek told Claire he thinks that she is good and there is a very good chance that he is going up. Claire kept crying and said she should have gone for the third nominee.
9:21 PM: Claire told Tiffany she feels like she let them down by not going for the third nominee. She said that she should have won the veto. Tiffany told her that she is fine. Claire said she knows she is and that’s why she didn’t go for the third nominee. Tiffany encouraged her to stay strong and not focus on the past. Tiffany said that Claire is not going anywhere.
9:34 PM: Sarah Beth told Derek F she is happy for him. He said he didn’t want it to come off as though he asked her to help get him off of the block and then he took the money. Sarah Beth said it’s still helping her because he has BB Bucks. Derek said he hopes that he can get 75 next week in order to be able to play. Derek said it’s really only him and Derek X that can play if he is still there. Sarah Beth said there is no way that Derek X will be around since they have the votes.
9:49 PM: Hannah and Kyland ran through scenarios of who would go up and be nominated next week depending on who stays and who wins HoH. Tiffany joined them and said she is assuming that Derek X is going on the block but she will not take it personally if Claire goes this week. Tiffany said if she had to choose, she would choose Derek X to stay over Claire. Kyland said his concern with that is when the time comes to beat Derek X, people will be looking at him to beat him, not Hannah and Tiffany.
10:08 PM: Kyland told Xavier that Claire is more likely than Derek X to leave two members of the Cookout on the block than Derek X is, and Derek X isn’t targeting him, but people are going to be looking at the two of them to beat Derek. Xavier agreed and said Derek X has the most money and Derek F would be sitting pretty if they took him out. Kyland agreed.
10:12 PM: Claire told Xavier that she should have gone for other things in the veto competition. They discussed that Xavier at least gets to play in the veto competition next week. They talked about how they expected it to come down to the two of them since people who aren’t on the block didn’t have the same incentive to take the punishments.
10:20 PM: Hannah asked Kyland if they should vote democratically on who to keep. Kyland said no since they have six people and it will be split 3-3. Hannah said she, Azah and Tiffany would want to keep Derek X, and Kyland said his personal preference would be to do that. Kyland clarified that he would not be able to vote based on his personal preference since he knows that he will be counted on to beat Derek down the line if so.
10:37 PM: Sarah Beth told Kyland that Derek X is going to be gone. She figured that Hannah would vote to keep him and Tiffany may as well. She said that everyone else is a confirmed vote to evict Derek X. Kyland said that he could see Azah voting to keep Derek. Sarah Beth talked about needing to do damage control after Derek X goes up. She worried that he could bring up to Alyssa and Xavier that she knew about the plan to get Christian out in advance, and she was working with Derek since she didn’t trust the Kings. Sarah Beth figured that it would be best to tell them that Derek is lying about her knowing of the plan in advance.
11:35 PM: Derek X joined Kyland and Sarah Beth in the HoH room. He asked if he is getting backdoored. Sarah Beth said she doesn’t have a lot of options to nominate and she has to consider all of them. Sarah Beth said she didn’t intend for Claire to go home this week and she is considering all of her options. Kyland said he didn’t see it as an option for himself at the start of the week. Sarah Beth agreed. Derek asked what pros and cons she is weighing. Sarah Beth said Derek has been loyal to her but she wonders if she will get another chance. She said he is smarter than her and more liked than she is. Derek asked if she thinks they have a better shot at going further as a trio. Sarah Beth said it’s possible and she is willing to talk it through. Sarah Beth asked who would stay if Azah goes up. Derek said it’s up to her. He said if he stays off of the block, he will be forever indebted to her. Derek mentioned that Derek F now has the money for the coup d’etat and if he stays and gets it instead, he would not put either of them up.
12:50 AM: Tiffany told Hannah she knows it’s just a game but she has probably had a better friend in Derek X than she has had in Claire. Tiffany talked about how she trusts Claire and talks game with her. Tiffany said losing either one of them hurts like hell. She said she feels so bad for Derek X because he has been targeted since Day 2. Hannah said she is preaching to the choir. Hannah added that the first time she cries in this house will probably be when Derek X leaves. Hannah said Derek is expecting to go on the block but he thinks that the vote will be a tossup. Hannah said she is voting to keep Derek regardless. She said she hopes that he wont hate her. Hannah said she is upset but not fully upset since she thinks that there will be a Battle Back.
