Big Brother 23 Day 74 - Xavier wins the Power of Veto
September 18, 2021
12:39 PM: Feeds went down for the veto competition.
3:10 PM: Feeds returned. Xavier won the Power of Veto.
3:10 PM: Kyland was alone in the have-not room. He said this is the moment that everyone warned him about and it’s funny because no one warned anyone about him. Kyland mentioned that you have to be able to save yourself in this game, and in back to back weeks he saved Xavier and showed him that he is not expendable to him. Kyland said he hopes that Xavier can do the same for him. Kyland brought up that the good thing is if Xavier doesn’t use the veto and he gets to final two, Xavier did not save him once in this game. Kyland added that he would still need to get to final two though.
3:29 PM: Xavier joined Kyland in the have-not room. He asked Kyland if he is alright. Kyland said he hopes so. Xavier said he is letting everyone know that he is not doing any veto talk today. He asked if Kyland is sure that he is good. Kyland said not at all. He told Xavier he is happy that he won but it’s the thing that everyone kept warning him about that he disregarded. Kyland said he doesn’t fully know why there would have to be a conversation tomorrow. He added that it’s a vulnerable moment and he gave Xavier reassurances so to not get them is concerning. Xavier told Kyland that he will be fine. Kyland clarified if fine means three. Xavier said yes. Kyland pointed out that Xavier is not expendable to him and he showed him that on Day 71 by using the veto on him to ensure that he is not at risk. Xavier said he will talk to Derek and if he is not willing what needs to be done, Kyland cannot be on the block. Kyland suggested that Derek could say whatever he wants, and it’s more of a question of whether or not Xavier is willing to risk having him sit on the block. Kyland said he prioritized Xavier over everyone numerous times in the past week or two, and it would be nice if Xavier could show him the same by using the veto. Xavier said he knows. He said that he can only say things for now since nothing can be shown until Kyland sees what happens with the veto.
3:39 PM: After Xavier left the room, Kyland said he hates himself right now and he cannot believe that he did not save himself.
4:31 PM: Derek told Azah he thinks that it’s his time. When Azah asked what he means, Derek said he doesn’t think that Xavier is going to use the veto on him. Azah said it doesn’t work like that, and if he makes the decision not to use it, Derek decides. Derek said he thought Xavier would use it on him and then he would still get to vote. Azah pointed out that Derek is not on the block so he does not need the veto used on him. Derek worried that Xavier said he does not want to talk any game but then he was upstairs with Kyland for a long time. Azah said she would never be bitter over anything that Derek decides to do, but she would be bitter. Derek said he is counting on her vote and Britini’s vote if he makes it to the end. Azah said if the veto isn’t used Derek is good but she felt that she would be leaving if she did not win the veto herself. Derek said he felt the same way.
10:45 PM: Azah, Derek and Xavier chatted in the living room. Azah laughed and said she kind of wants Xavier to use the veto on her because she still doesn’t know what Derek will do. Xavier said he trusts him. Derek said if Xavier leaves nominations the same, he does not know what he is going to do. Derek said he will really have to sit down and find it deep down inside because they are talking about his best friend in the game and the person that he has been dealing with. Azah told Xavier to use the veto on her and she will be saying she votes to evict Kyland. Derek explained that it will look so bad since he has been working with Kyland and had him do every move that he couldn’t do since he did not win anything. Derek brought up that Kyland got rid of Tiffany. Xavier argued that Kyland was going to get rid of Tiffany whether Derek said something or not. Derek said the only reason he wants to do it is because he doesn’t have anything on his resume and the jury will look at it like he made a move, but then he will not have Kyland’s vote. Xavier said Kyland respects the game. Azah once again said that she could vote to evict Kyland if Derek doesn’t want to be in that position. Derek said he hopes that sending Kyland home would help him with the jury since they would see it as a game move. Derek said he doesn’t want to be seen as the coward who had to have the veto used on Azah so that he didn’t have to make the move. He continued to go back and forth on the matter. Azah said she has no deals with Kyland and will make the move if Derek doesn’t want to be the one to do it.
11:25 PM: Kyland told Derek that he is stressed. Derek said they are all stressed. Derek said he doesn’t think Kyland has anything to worry about unless Xavier uses the veto on Azah. Kyland said he doesn’t think that Xavier would do that. Derek said that they wont be able to do anything if Xavier does use the veto on Kyland, and they all played their best game. Kyland argued that it depends how you define best because he could have played the game differently to ensure that he got to the end rather than trying to stick to his word to Derek and Xavier. Derek asked what that route would have looked like. Kyland said it probably would have been sending home Tiffany but then using the veto on Hannah in order to send Xavier home. Kyland said it’s tough since he only has other people’s words to go off of but he displayed his loyalty through his actions. Derek said he tried to go for the veto today so that Kyland wouldn’t have to worry.
1:31 AM: Derek told Azah that Kyland is going to be the death of him. Derek explained that Kyland is marking it clear he earned being in the final three and if he doesn’t pick him, he is not a man of his word and it shows that he is selfish and basically not a good person. Azah said he would have earned it if he had won the veto, and the only person that has earned top three is Xavier. Derek said he is just venting to her because Kyland is making him feel like the worst person ever. Derek asked if he is a bad person by sending Kyland home. Azah said no. Derek said someone is getting hurt no matter what he does. Derek talked about having made a deal with Kyland week two. He said he is obviously sending Kyland home and he has already made up his mind, but Kyland is telling him that if he is a man of his word, he is not going to do anything. Derek brought up that Kyland is saying a lot of things that are making him question if they are really taking the game this personally.
