BBCAN5 - Dillon Carman Exit Interview

May 12, 2017

Hours before the veto ceremony, you told Karen that Demetres has to go. Had Kevin left his nominations the same, would you have voted to evict Demetres, or could Karen have convinced you to keep him?

Dillon: I would have definitely voted Demetres out, that’s for sure. In order for me to get to the Final 2, I needed to get Demetres and Kevin both out of the house. The first step would have been getting Demetres out.

During your talk with Karen, Kevin joined you. Throughout that discussion, you presented reasons why Ika should go. If you wanted Demetres to go, why did you do that?

Dillon: I was trying to get Kevin to leave the nominations the same. He wanted us to vote Demetres out, but Karen put it in my head that we had to get him convinced that Ika was the bigger threat. Honestly, it was a bad conversation. That conversation never should have happened. I feel like that’s a big reason why I got put on the block.

When Kevin said he is using the Power of Veto on Ika, what was going through your mind and did you expect to go on the block?

Dillon: As soon as he said he is going to use the Power of Veto, I knew it was going to be me.

After the veto ceremony, you mentioned to Karen that you think Ika, Demetres and Kevin are working together. Do you still believe that?

Dillon: That was a thought that ran through my head. It’s tough to say if they are or not, but that was definitely a thought that ran through my head. Kevin has had them on the block twice now and they have escaped both times.

Had Kevin nominated Karen, is there any chance that you would have evicted her like Kevin thought you would have?

Dillon: No, I couldn’t have done that.

When Karen told you she was going to vote you out, is there a reason why you didn’t fight harder to stay?

Dillon: I tried with Karen but her mind was so made up. There was nothing I could have said that was going to get her to sway her vote.

Why do you think Karen decided to evict you?

Dillon: It’s a bit of that and mostly it’s her vendetta against Kevin Martin.

Did you take Kevin’s stuffed pig with you when you left the house, to hold it for ransom like you and Karen had discussed you could do?

Dillon: I wanted to so bad. I seriously wanted to so bad. That was Wednesday. I went to look for it Thursday and it was gone. I’m not sure what happened to the pig. Maybe Karen took it.

You had a bit of a rough start with Ika and Demetres, but you ended up working together towards the end of the game. Did your opinion of them change or were you with them solely for game purposes?

Dillon: The only reason Demetres kind of called me out in the beginning was that he needed to take the target off of himself and put it on somebody else. I don’t fault him for doing that. If he hadn’t have done that, we definitely would have had a better relationship all the way through the game. In the latter stages, we did have a better relationship for sure.

Once you lost Emily, you told Karen that she would be your new Emily. What was it about Karen that allowed the two of you to connect so well?

Dillon: Karen is just a real girl. She is a wild person. She has a ton of personality, obviously. She says whatever she is thinking. She doesn’t filter much. Throughout the whole game, I had a good vibe with Karen. After Emily left, I had to find somebody to pass the time with. Karen was that lady.

You told Arisa you hope that Kevin doesn’t win the game. Why is that?

Dillon: I feel like he thinks he is playing more of a mastermind or more of a better game than he is actually playing. From being in the house with him the entire time, in the first half of the game he really didn’t do anything. In the latter stages of the game, he is obviously turning it up and winning more competitions. He thinks he did more than he really did. He is a Dr. Will impressionist and he is doing a bad impression.

When you get to the jury house, are you going to attempt to sway the jurors opinions of anyone left in the house?

Dillon: I don’t think so. My game has come to an end. I’m not going to talk any more game. If they have questions, I’m going to answer them but I’m not going to try to sway anybody or anything like that. Come finale night, they will vote how they want to vote and it is what it is.

What will you be basing your jury vote on?

Dillon: I really hope that Demetres is in Final 2. He will get my vote for sure. It’s all around game play. Demetres and Ika complemented each other so well. I want to see them in the Final 2. If Kevin makes it, I’m not going to vote for him. I’ll vote for the couch before I will vote for Kevin. I’ll base it on competition, social play, and the best all around game.

How would you rank the Final 4 in order of most deserving to least deserving of winning the game?

Dillon: It would be most deserving Demetres, Ika, Karen and Kevin. Demetres has played a really good game. Maybe he wasn’t the best socially at times, but Ika made up for his social disadvantage. He has just played such a competitive game. He is a wicked competitor and a very smart kid too. I don’t want people to get the misconception that Ika controlled him throughout the game. He really did a hell of a job this season.
