Big Brother: Over The Top - Danielle Lickey Exit Interview

November 18, 2016

Before the double eviction, you and Jason made a fake Final 5 deal with Alex, Morgan and Shelby. Do you think that you overlooked the potential repercussions of such a move?

Danielle: We definitely overlooked the possible repercussions of it. We thought that we had everything wrapped up, tied in a bow, ready to go. We knew we were getting Alex out. We were pretty confident that someone in our alliance was going to win the double eviction, which we did, but we did not take into account that care package. We did not think that we were going to be getting a care package. Getting a care package and it being the one that it was was definitely the most detrimental part of it all. If that wouldn't have happened, we would have sent Morgan home and it really wouldn’t have mattered. Shelby would have been there alone. We definitely didn’t think that all the way through. It was definitely something just to be funny. They took it pretty serious, which I don’t blame them for cause we definitely got their hopes up. Yeah, we should have thought that through a little more and not been so petty.

You mentioned in your speech that you respect Shelby’s game. What is it that you respect about her game and do you think that she would be a deserving winner?

Danielle: I love this question. I respect the fact that she just kind of had everyone convinced that she was not a threat at all. We targeted her early on just because we thought she was kind of annoying, then we were like “no, let’s not play a personal game. She is not a threat. We will leave her for later”. Later came around and she showed that she was a force to be reckoned with. She showed that she was very intelligent, she was good at competitions and that is probably what I respect the most about her. She played a very very very smart game. I think she does deserve to win. Obviously personally I would love for Jason to win cause I adore him. If it’s not him, the only person left in the house besides him to win is Shelby. I hope that she does well. I hope she makes really smart decisions in these next two weeks. I respect her game immensely. I can’t wait to talk to her afterwards and tell her I wish we would have worked together. Our games were very very similar. Yeah, I respect her game immensely.

You were frustrated with Justin this past week, calling him a traitor amongst other things. You had the opportunity to evict him during the double eviction. Are you still happy with your decision to evict Whitney?

Danielle: I am happy with my move because I just had this gut feeling about Whitney. She was part of our alliance but she came in so late that we didn’t know exactly where her loyalties were. If Justin left, that was her biggest connection to our alliance. I had a feeling that she would target me first out of anyone from our alliance. I was correct. I don’t regret sending her home and keeping Justin. I regret trusting Justin so much, but…actually I don’t even regret that that much really. I feel like I would have ended up on the block regardless whether I sent home Justin or sent home Whitney. It just kind of showed me that Justin really isn’t the person I thought that he was.

Yourself and Kryssie said that you would be happier seeing Jason win than to win yourself. You talked about it being his dream but it’s your dream too and he has already had a shot at this, so what is it about Jason that makes people willing to put his game ahead of their own?

Danielle: There is just something about him. You can’t help but love Jason. This is his second time around and he really has given up a lot to be here in this game, both the first time and the second time. While it was my dream to play Big Brother and to win, when I was 10 years old I wasn’t thinking “I want to play Big Brother cause I want to win $500,000” or whatever the case is. I was just “I want to play Big Brother, I want to play in the comps, I want to strategize”. I got to do all of those things. His dream is to win and to change his life for the better. I think that is what makes people want to put their neck out there for him. I don’t regret doing it at all. When I said I would be more happy to see him win than me, I meant that 100% because I think he deserves it and I adore him. I want to see him do well.
